This former A- list mostly television actress who had multiple chances on network television but only ever hit it big the first time has also only hit it once big in movies. She has had serious health problems but there she was chain smoking away for almost an hour this week outside an event.

addiction is a bitch
often people that have severe stress/anxiety/emotional distress in their lives smoke. not an excuse, it just seems the common denominator. Im so glad I quit. hope she can too though the stress of a movie promo tour doesnt help. she didnt look too hot on her quickie GMA interview promoting Vacation.
I know a woman who had breast cancer and she still smokes like a smokestack and I dont understand why? Maybe she feels she cheated death?

Maybe because smoking can cause lots of different cancers (lung, mouth, liver, and many other body parts which names I don't recall in English and don't want to look up), but in the breast one, her parents are more likely to blame because it is genetic the only known for sure cause.
Only people that have severe stupidity issues are stupid enough to start smoking. Save your excuses for your eulogy -and just because you use the "not an excuse" disclaimer, we all know you intend it so.
