Blind Item #8 - The Impostor - A Dancing Boy Blind

I want to begin by stating that the penultimate dancing boy blind item, "The Dancing Boys of Hollywood, Part I" was the work of an impostor - someone clearly skilled in apeing my style, clearly unfamiliar with the real life experience of the subject concerned, and clearly aware of what I am actually working on.

There is a backstory here, I believe: for years, beginning as a teen, I had the feeling of being shadowed. I didn't like to walk alone? I didn't like to drive alone. But, time after time, I'd circle back around the block, and only find what I had passed. I'd turn off main roads, and no one would follow. Everyone, including my shrink, dismissed it as a phantasm.

But once, at eighteen, while leaving a summer job early and off schedule - I had just quit in anger - I walked out of the local mall into the harsh afternoon light. Employee parking was far removed. I stopped to light a cigarette, on the way, and felt the familiar emotion: someone was watching me.

This time, when I looked around, there really was someone. He was behind the wheel of a black, late model BMW 7 series, maybe 50 feet away. He had blond hair, like me, and wore glasses, as I did. If I had to guess he was the same age, give or take a year. When he saw me looking at him, he started the car, and drove off.

I thought only of this reoccurring dream, that started with the feeling of being followed: that I was not alone in that womb.

Coming on Monday: the *real* Dancing Boys of Hollywood.

Don't really care for the Doobie Brothers but I love Steely Dan, so I'll say Michael.

Brayson87 said...

@Ophelia, Hope you feel better! Know lots of people that get migraines.

It sucks the govt stripped the pain meds from migraine sufferers because of some sh!tty doctors and junkie patients.

Sweet red pepper cauliflower crust pizza topped with mashed avocado and feta cheese

I think Stey Dan was an extremely underrated group in its time that gained a lot more respect and admiration as the years went by.

*Steely Dan* goddamn this POS keyboard

Smalls said...

Ophelia, at the risk of giving advice that you probably get a lot of as a migraine sufferer, I really recommend these Be Koool strips. When I get a migraine, I slap one of these on and they stay cool for hours. I realize that's not something you can prob do AT work but it's a good choice for when you get home. https://www.amazon.com/BeKoool-Cooling-Relief-Migraine-Sheets/dp/B004AI8ZE6 (Not sure if you're in the U.S. or not!)

I don't know if my terrible headaches are actually migraines, but the heating pad works WONDERS for them. Sometimes I use two at the same time, one for the neck/back of head, and the other covering face.

Popeye's spicy strips with red beans and rice.

Brayson87 said...

@Jennifer, the difference was explained to me as this:

"If they hurt less than repeated cigarette burns, they're probably not migraines. If you've never seen auras/flashing lights or ever vomited from the pain, they're probably not migraines. If you've never prayed to god to just let you die and free you from the pain, they're probably not migraines."

@Ophelia hope you feel better soon! Migraines can be really irritating!

yepthatsme said...

Wow, everyone is having a full meal, and i am sitting here with a large french fries and dip!

Thia said...

I hate migraines and also at the risk of giving advice - my Mom gets terrible migraines. The doctor put her on a seizure medication (tegretol) last year and she's not had a single one since.

@Yepthatsme - lunch is my favorite meal! I eat tiny breakfasts and dinners, but LOVE a good lunch.

@Brayson - excellent description of a migraine. That's pretty much what my mother has explained to me.

Does everyone else love @Sandybrook's keyboard. My work keyboard is the WORST. haha

Dinosaur chicken nuggets with blue cheese dressing

Ophelia said...

haha thanks everyone! i snuck out for a second nap of the day & am feeling a little bit better :)

@Brayson excellent description! And yeah regular old ibuprofen won't make much of a difference & since I've learned to avoid triggers I don't qualify for the good medicine when I occasionally still get one

@Smalls those sound great! I get a stiff neck with mine so maybe I could wear them at work and hide them with my hair haha

@kfitz computers definitely don't help - I'm constantly tempted to get computer glasses haha

@thia I'm glad your mom is doing better! my neurologist said I had to get them weekly to qualify for preventative medicine so I just carefully avoid stuff I know triggers them whenever possible

DB sounds schizophrenic. That would explain a lot.

UniversalEnergy said...

It's not that hard to explain. He explained before that the man who captured the subject and other boys to make them child stars and hookers for molesters in executive positions in movie cos, was from the Middle East and he used to capture boys there for rich men's down-low sexcapades. They traditionally have these boys dance for them and are sex slaves. Look it up.

Maybe on a bid reveal day we can get the Cliff's notes version of the Dancing Boy blinds? I always skip past them because there's too much info to retain, but i'd like to know the gist of it all!

"Why does enty let this guy post on here, most of it is just incoherent rambling anyway. "

The most likely answer is that Dancing Boy is the only actual "insider" who is willing to write for the blog, which brings it some credibility (I know... I know...). DB has obvious issues but he may also have had actual ties with the industry. Or it could be that DB may exaggerate a little, using blind items he had found there as a template to stories that supposedly happened to him, giving Enty some kind of validation for the other stuff he posts.

It could be that some people in the entertainment industry may still be willing to supply Enty with a few tips, but none of them want to sign them with an alias and be traced back.

Sandybrook said...
"So Enty allowed a fake DB to post and didn't do shit to verify an identity? Good lawyering Entern!"

The previous DB blind, the one he now dismisses as the work of an impostor was posted two weeks ago. And it wasn't actually titled "The Dancing Boys of Hollywood, Part I". These words aren't even in the text.

http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2018/10/blind-item-7-dancing-boy-blind-item.html

It took him two weeks to deny he wrote this blind, while he could have just informed Enty of the situation and get the post removed. That suggests that he indeed wrote it, realized from the comments that he was getting ridiculed and spent two weeks sulking. Now, he tries to make a come back by dissociating himself from the poorly received blind item.

Went to this small little town called Bunnell in northern Florida (flagler county) for the famous fish sandwich at Bantam Chef, best fish sandwich in Florida. $7.80 and you get about a dozen pieces of fish on it, its enormous. Look it up on tripadvisor if you dont believe me.

@Sandybrook - you are right about Steely Dan, they were under-rated. I also remember a newspaper quote, calling them 'the ugliest band in the world' as the group members were each physically ugly. I used to have an LP of theirs in the 1970s, loved them.

Still, they're cousins,
Identical cousins and you'll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike --
You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

sandybrook said...

I could probably find uglier bands starting with anything Leslie West (300 lbs. of fat performed in). Absolute cheap shot by that writer, not everybody was Peter Frampton and when he was in Humble Pie they too were pretty grungy.

Adrastia said...

All you need to do to ape DB's style is to bash your head against a brick wall six or seven times then start typing.

This ARG is too hard. When do we all get trolled into meeting up in the desert for a guy who will never show up?

Seriously worried about the mental status of DB. I had a doozy of a migraine today. Managed to teach for the first half of the day but had to go home at lunch. The kids were so sweet and tried to stay relatively quiet, for a gaggle of third graders. I take a preventative, which helps, usually. Still get bad ones a few times a year. Usually my rx pills when I get one helps, not so much on this one. Needed stronger stuff that knocked me out for hours. Still have pressure in my eye so it will come back, bummer. Perfect description of a migraine. They suck.

Gerard said...

Steely Dan is the only band I’ve seen live that takes their music higher than the recorded version. Just a personal opinion as a civilian music lover.

GentleBreeze said...

God help all migraineurs. My world exploded into sunshine when I first was given tylenol-3. Then sumatriptan took away the pain, though I still felt 'sick'. Taking an epilepsy drug topamax did not take the edge off, but retiring and especially menopause - brought my migraines from 3/4 times monthly to 2/3 in five YEARS. Now, feeling one coming on I take tylenol and naproxin sodium and that's all. So, my fellows, there is hope.

Angela said...

@Village Guru

You're right. And the blind is still online...

http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2018/10/todays-blind-items-dancing-boys-of.html

So, DB is the victim of an imposter more than a month ago, and his reaction isn't to write Enty to get the post removed, but to post FOUR other messages (it wasn't actually his "penultimate" post) then to casually mention he hadn't actually written this?

Yeah, that makes total sense. Also, next time I'm covered in gasoline, I'll smoke a cigarette to get rid of the smell.

NicQuerica said...

More incoherent shit, huh?

Oh and open buffet at a place called Dude's. Will have maybe some baked fish or chicken with sweet potatoes and a salad.
