This A list hitmaker is not a household name, although he fronts a B+/A- group that you will hear on the radio. The hitmaker has written songs for artists in multiple genres, including many chart-toppers. One of the hitmaker’s clients was this A++ singer who tried to screw him out of royalties from a song. According to the singer, the hitmaker was merely a “fly on the wall” during the studio session, and not a key contributor. The hitmaker and his lawyer argued otherwise. To avoid confrontation and damaging press, the singer and the singer’s camp eventually agreed to a songwriter credit and royalties for the hitmaker. The two never worked together again.
