Did John Mayer Put One Foot Out Of The Closet?
I read so much crap everyday that it starts to just blur in my mind. Drugs here, divorce here, crap from publicists over in the corner, and then there are bits and pieces of interviews that are the real gold. It's tough to find them though because you have to read through all the innocuous self-serving hyperbole in order to maybe find some nugget which is interesting. More often than not, there is no nugget and you have wasted another three minutes of your life.
Reading a recent interview with John Mayer is not really my idea of fun, but, I thought maybe he would talk smack about Pimpa so I read it. Well look what I found. I don't want any misunderstandings here, so I am going to just pull the section directly from a British interview I believe.
American rocker John Mayer is scared to show fans the real him - because he's worried they'll abandon him in droves. The 29-year-old singer has a wholesome reputation, but longs to let everyone see the hidden side of his personality. He says, "On the one hand, I want to mess up. To slip, you know? "But then the other part of me runs John Mayer Incorporated, the business, and I'm incredibly controlled about how people see me."
Now what on earth could cause John Mayer's mostly female fans to leave him in droves if they found out his secret. I guess it could be that he enjoyed when Pimpa watched him get it on with Jessica or that he likes hot wax dumped on his body while he wears lingerie around his apartment, but the way he describes the part about slipping up or the way people see him leads me to believe that maybe Mr. Mayer is testing the waters to see how people would take to him if he took more than just one step out of the closet.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I can't figure out why his fans would abandon him in droves if they found out his secret. It's not like he's going to say, "I've got permanent bad breath. I hope my fans can support me."

Maybe it's because he's not so secretly a mysogonistic douche. His stand up comedy is a prime example of this. He's got serious issues with women.

I think John Mayer IS Gay. There are too many rumors and this interview convinced me that they're probably true.
I like early John Mayer, before he became so precocious. I think that if/when he "comes out" he may lose conservative fans, which is why he's still in the closet.

I agree with the first commentor. I don't think he's gay. I think he hates women. You know, fans would be shocked because he writes songs about wonderlands and such but really he's a gigantic asshole to women. Just like my ex-love John Cusack. He is portrayed as a sweet guy but what he really is is a misogynist. It would kill their woman-based careers if it was found out.

I don't know the dirt on the scummy relationships Cusak has had (pretty bad rumors out there about him), but I did read something pretty loathsome about him in Black Book magazine; he was describing one of his favorite activities - "celebrity looting":
John Cusak explained how a store asked him to come over and patronize it; get some free stuff. He and his friends went straight to a rack of $8,000 leather coats and took several. The managers "...got all nervous and twitchy. They freak. But you look at them real hard and walk out. That is celebrity looting."

If there's one thing I've really, truly learned from this site it's that Hollywood is just a mirage. It's all smoke and mirrors.
