Oh @Montana, the reason why Jana looks so shiny? It's cuz she and Will were just having wild passionate heterosexual sex in the limo on the way over and she's still all sweaty.

I heard Catherine Zeta Jones sing "Send In The Clowns" and thought it was awful (she looked old too). So I was really surprised when she one a Tony. Has anyone seen or heard anything about her broadway performance?

ReplyDeleteI wondered the same thing about CZJ because she sounded awful. I saw her on letterman a few weeks ago and she sang absolutely beautifully so I was stunned to hear how bad she sounded last night. Then when she won she mentioned she was sick and had nearly lost her voice so maybe thats the reason, but yeah, she did look old.
Send in the Clowns is a tough song to sing since so many iconic singers have sung it.

I thought Catherine's song was horrible and not from the singing, which was okay. What was with all the jerky movements? Was that supposed to be acting?

I think y'all need to cut some slack on CZJ. Like quoting the bible, her song was taken out of context. Plus she didn't win the prize because of that one performance but overall.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think everyone who voted saw the various performances. As MontanaMarriottt said, Send in the Clowns is a difficult song to do because its been done way too many tmes by too many singers. I thought CZJ demonstrated the right angst. Still I admit I was as surprised as she was for the win.
When Will and a strange woman came out onstage, I thought: "Where's Jada?" That is NOT Jada Pinkett Smith! She looks like an odd robot-

And Catherine Zeta Jones sang like a Bobble-head.. she kept jerking her head from side to side! Either she didn't know where the camera was, or the director made her follow some stylistic, bizarre staging.
She looked old? She IS aging, but her role in "NIght Music" is that of an aging actress realizing she's losing her touch, and her husband...
"Send in the Clowns" was written for Glynis Johns, who had absolutely no breath control, so it was written in short phrases so she could catch her breath. Most professional singers alter the phrasing so it sounds more ... musical.. I guess CZJ is from the Glynis Johns school of musical theatre.
I'm loving all the Jada comments. She deserves every single bit and more. Ugh.

I like Melanie and Antonio, but as actors and to look at--I remember hearing stuff about Melanie doing drugs but haven't paid much attention to it.
