Her mother is extremely controlling and demands to know all the goings-on in the star’s life. The actress secretly resents her mother but is so attached and afraid of her, she can’t help but keep up this sick cycle, even though she is an adult.

I thought Demi at first, but she isn't all grown up, and she is more than just an actress...she's a singer too and think the blind would have mentioned that. Dakota is not an adult yet. Who is always seen with their mom? And I wonder if the mom is famous?
Oh...and BTW...the actress should probably feel lucky to have a mom who cares rather than being resentful. If she's an adult, draw some boundaries, but it sounds like mom really loves her.

Hmm, what about Kirsten Dunst? Wiki states a quote about her sometimes resentment towards her mother and she was in rehab for depression in 2008.

Dakota Fanning is still a child and is only 16. This excludes her mother, because her mother still travels with her and oversees her day to day projects, she knows.

"All Grown Up" was the title of the tween-version of "Rugrats", so I'm thinking this could be a former Nickelodeon child star.

If she's a cutter, where is she cutting? Thighs, stomach, legs, arms? Are there any former child stars who aren't often photographed in the little tiny dresses everyone seems to be so fond of? Does she get photographed in cycles (i.e. every month or so, depending on how fast she heals)? Is there any current photographic evidence of 'unexplained' scarring?

I think this is Keira Knightly.
She's always been very close to her mother. For a long time, her mom traveled set to set with her, even after she was legal age.
She's gone through that whole early 20's angst, I can totally see her as a cutter.
hillary duff's mother was her manager at some point but i guess a lot of celebrities had momagers as child-stars. she also seems like someone who'd call her mom twice a day and say she's her best friend or something.
I'm fairly sure this is Alyssa Milano. Just Google her mother, Lin.
