This is so sad; everyone was rooting for him to pull through. Springsteen concerts will never be the same.
ReplyDeleteA partial statement that was just posted on Bruce Springsteen's website:
"It is with overwhelming sadness that we inform our friends and fans that at 7:00 tonight, Saturday, June 18, our beloved friend and bandmate, Clarence Clemons passed away. The cause was complications from his stroke of last Sunday, June 12th."
RIP, big man.
ReplyDeleteRIP. So sad. I'll miss him and his sax.

Thanks for posting something about him. I feel a bit heartbroken because I'm such a fan.
ReplyDeleteHe was responsible for some of the most iconic and well-loved tunes from my own childhood. What a great output of work, truly.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P., CC.
About six years ago, in L.A., we had great seats to the left of the stage near where the Big Man stands. During one song, we were all standing, my sister and people around me were clapping, dancing, singing along. I was standing, and doing my usual thing - not clapping or singing, just joyously listening. Out of all the people in my section, Big Man saw me, pointed at me and starting clapping, urging me to do so as well. Of course I did. Who could refuse the awesome Clarence "Big Man" Clemons?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna put on "Independece Day" as the sun sets this evening and remember the big guy.
ReplyDeleteVery sad, but he had a great life doing what he loved. Very lucky in that respect.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I heard him perform with Bruce on many occasions.
ReplyDeleteHearing his passing made me sad. He was such an integral part of E Street. When I heard all I could think about was the line in 10th Avenue Freezeout..(Am I wrong on the name? Apologies for my stupidity.) But who can forget when Bruce sings: "..and the Big Man joined the band" and his sax immediately thereafter..iconic.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great musician. Don't remember hearing or seeing anything bad about him in the gossip rags. He'll always be my favorite sax player. So sad.

ReplyDeleteLove The E Street Band's version of Santa Claus is coming to town. It's still the BEST!
ReplyDeleteSo cool and gorgeous to boot. As Lanasyogamama said, he seems to have had a very good life doing what he loved, tho.
ReplyDeleteWhat Jamie's girl said.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Mr. Clemons
