Britney Overdosed On Heroin? Likes To Be Called Queen Bee

I need one of the fabulous nurses who reads the site to explain this one to me. According to court papers filed by that former Britney Spears bodyguard who is suing because he says Britney always made sexual advances to him and paraded around naked, he says Britney was using various legal drugs for which she had no prescription and also other illegal drugs. He specifically stated she used Narcon which supposedly is only given when you have overdosed on meth or heroin. Is this right or is it used also when someone is really depressed?

Britney also uses Ritalin and meth-amphetamines which she does not need because there is no way anyone in the world needs to see Britney after she has been on the go for 36 hours. In case you are curious, he also says she never showers, never wears deodorant and does not care about her hygiene. OK, that one is a no brainer to anyone who has ever seen a pap photo of her.

It is correct. Narcan reverses the effects of narcotics. It is not used for depression.

I should say, it's not used on someone who OD'd on meth. Meth is an amphetamine, Narcan would NOT be used to treat an overdose of meth. It is used only for overdose of any narcotic class medication (which includes heroin among many others).

I'm not saying that what he is saying is all a lie, but it is interesting when people like this suddenly remember new scandal-worthy things to talk about at the exact time they need publicity for a book, tv show, etc...

Where I'm from you just quit, you don't sue.

Little Miss is correct. Narcan is normally used when someone has overdosed on a narcotic, as it is a narcotic antagonist. It's contraindicated for someone who has had a meth issue, and I have never heard of it being used for depression. None of its properties would have any kind of anti-depressive effect. In fact, I can't think of why she would be taking it. It doesn't have any psychotherapeutic effects at all, that I know of.
Also, Brit Brit's a druggie who never bathes? Color me not shocked.

While I actually believe most of this, I agree it's pretty shitty for him to sue.

I know Narcan has been distributed as part of emergency kits for heroin users in LA, and if that's the case, Brit has a serious problem. It could be that she has Suboxone which contains buprenorphine and naloxone (narcan) which produce a similar, though less euphoric high, as opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin. It’s used to slowly wean addicts off opioids.

it can be used to treat depersonalization disorder which often accompanies severe depression, borderline personality or bipolar disorder. they are more commonly treated with a combo of SSRIs and benzos or tricyclics.

Yeah. Big shocker on the personal hygeine, or lack of.

Didn't he pull this stunt last year?

Remember CPS came out to investigate and cleared her.

I hope she sues Flores, he's the creep who said she sexually harassed him. Take a look at his photo and laugh about that, even in her crazy he's a big NO. He's been trying to essentially extort her for a few years now, and he was fired after only working for them for a few weeks, and never closely with her as he was a "new hire". Please, this guy needs to be sued so he stops looking for a severance check he didn't deserve.

He's as disgusting as Lufti.

I wonder if the refusing to bathe is a control issue? As in, I can't control any other part of my life, but I can control my hygiene?

Either way, I feel sorry for the girl. Fame and the bullshit artists it attracts can be hell on your mind.

Lori said...

i think the bathing has to do with the depression... it is not uncommon.

No clue on the drugs thing but I still feel really sorry for Britney. For whatever reason, I have more sympathy for her than LiLo.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing when he got the job. His mission was to get as much dirt on her as possible or twist the truth as much as possible.

And try to sue or get a bunch of hush money not to talk. Kudos to Jaimie on not paying out and taking it to court. He will not win and I hope he has to end up paying Spears legal fees after losing.

What Lelaina Pierce said. I don't think Britney has ever been in control of her career OR her life since becoming famous. I am not a conspiracy theorist or anything but when I read stories about young, female recording artists being brainwashed or programmed, and then look at Britney, well, it's all right there. Lindsay, on the other hand, has had every opportunity to clean herself up and get her career back on track, and she just keeps blowing it (no pun, etc.).

I was just reading about an old time celebrity who was exploited at every turn - her nannies and pretty much everyone she hired snooped on her and opened her mail (specifically love letters), so they could sell this info to the press. And this was back in the '60's.

If this former employee is trying to exploit Britney, I hope he is punished within the full extent of the law. Even if this stuff were true, it's so personal it's making this hardened gossip eater cringe.

Not sure if some, including first responder Little Miss Smoke & Mirrors are confusing naloxone with naltrexone BUT: naloxone is used in an acute situation to reverse the effects of opiates on the central nervous and respiratory system. Naloxone is only available as an injectable and has a very short half life which is why it is preferred in an acute emergency to reverse the effects of an opiate overdose. Naltrexone has a longer half life and can be dosed twice daily for the same effect as naloxone but is used for the long term management of addiction.

Both are opiate receptor antagonists (NOT narcotic antagonists -- no such receptor!) which means that they bind up the opiate receptor, rendering the user unable to respond to opiates, such as heroin or oxycodone.

One of the nasty side effects is that they can percipitate the horrible side effects of opiate withdrawal in the long-term opiate user.

Given that the bodyguard used the brand name Narcon, he's stating that Britney is/was using a short acting injectable that has no real use outside the emergency situation. Kinetically speaking, what he's saying makes no sense UNLESS it was being used off label to treat depersonalization disorder, as mentioned by another poster.

Depersonalization disorder is a serious mental disorder, which I can see Britney suffering from, for which there are very few treatment options. The limited data suggests some great results using naloxone. If that's the case, this bodyguard is kind of low life scum to reveal her disorder and treatment in such a public forum.

I'm a pharmacist - I study drugs and etc. No disrespect to the nurses but I'm way more qualified to speak as to drugs, their effects and use. There is some incorrect information in these responses, which I find kind of irritating. I'm trained in this stuff and I'm qualified to speak. I can tell from some responses that some are not, but still speak authoritatively as though you were. Please stop doing that.

I know I sound snotty, maybe it's 'cause I'm coming off of 7 days of overnights but I find it irritating that people comment on something serious, like drugs, when they have no knowledge. It's one thing to comment on cooking a roast when you don't know how to cook, worst thing that can happen is a burned up piece of meat. With drugs, people open their yaps and give out advice, sometimes very very wrong advice and someone ends up in big trouble.

When you need drug info, call a pharmacist.

Bitter, you def have more authority than I do on this subject (I'm not a pharmacist), but everything I've read states that Narcan is a narcotic antagonist. If I've confused the drug name, then I apologize. If someone were to ask my opinion of the drug in a professional situation or because they were going to take it, I would never comment simply because it's not my field. But it's not like anyone thought Enty was going to run out and score himself some Narcan.

@bitter pharmacist i am with you 100% buddy. As a fellow pharmacist i get so pissed how under appreciated we are as a profession! We are drug experts but no one asks us for advice (or listens when we give it) :( enty in future asks us before the nurses

In regards to Britney and whatever she is or isnt taking I feel sorry for her. Clearly she has mental health issues and i hope she is getting whatever help she needs.

JustJen said...

Texshan -- No need to apologize, there's just no such receptor. The term "narcotic" references the schedule of the drug, not the chemical class. Opiates are a chemical class of drug that are so named because they act on the opiate receptor. Not all opiates are narcotics because not all are schedule II medications. Codeine, for example, is an opiate but not a narcotic.

What you've read is wrong. It happens. Depends on your source of information.

And thanks, gprincess, for saying it. I thought I was already sounding kinda bitchy so I didn't.

And yeah, I feel sorry for her too. Like I said, lowlife bottom feeding scum for revealing this in court papers but reading it just kinda breaks my heart for her and makes me wish her "people" would just leave her alone and let her try to deal with things without so much pressure.

This poor girl just seems so lost. I have a tremendous amount of compassion for the young Hollywood/music business stars who live without proper adult/parental supervision. The entertainment industry is a minefield and for someone still developing their psyche, not having a sounding board and someone to support your 'failures' and 'rejections' could create serious emotional issues in the long run. I've seen grown men and women seriously burn out in this business and they don't have even half the pressures of fame that these kids do. That being said, any kid who doesn't have parental support is probably at a serious disadvantage - makes me even sadder about all these BI's of parents on drugs and swapping sex partners who are raising families.

I'm bipolar and I go from one extreme to the other as far as hygiene; when I'm really down I don't care much about it because I think I don't deserve to be clean or something. Then I'll cycle up again and take 2 or 3 showers/baths per day. It's hell on the skin. Even with my meds as evened out as possible, it's like this. :( I HATE it.

SolitaryAngel said...

My point was, maybe Britney does it as a form of control, but I don't.

Brit's story seems so tragic. I feel bad for her. If she is abusing drugs while still bipolar I do NOT see this going well.

when will people get a clue and keep their kids out of hollywood? she looks terrible these days. she's what, 29 or 30, and looks 40 and worn out.

I feel so bad for her. It's Depersonalization disorder. Take a minute to watch the Strong Britney interview with Diane Sawyer and you'll understand all.

Pharmacists are hot! :)

Hold on a sec. Nurses take several semesters of pharmacology. I have been an ICU nurse for over 10 years and I have to say I know a great deal about a lot of medications. Including all of the information you provided. I think the case here is a lot of people read Wikipedia and post the info---not being nurses or pharmacists. Sure nurses may not know the mechanisms of action for each drug, however we sure as hell know to duck after pushing Narcan bc you are about to get punched in the face:)

mooshki said...

I don't believe for a second Brit is on any kind of speed. For the past year or so she's always looked like she's moving in slow motion.

gprincess said...

Catherine I appreciate that yes nurses and doctors do study a little pharmacology but it is not your area of expertise - you do not study it to the depth that pharmacists have to. In the same breath while pharmacists do semesters in physiology anatomy and intetlrnal medicine we do not go around diagnosing patients because it is not our area of expertise (nor is it in our remit to do so).
While of course you could answer the question enty put to you, it is frustrating that we are constantly overlooked as a profession in terms of our ability to advise and answer such questions despite the fact that we are best placed to do so.
I hope that I have clarified the point without offending you

Abd chasingheaven damn right we are hot ;)

@Kid Sis: That Britney interview with Diane Sawyer is disturbing. You can see she's just not that bright, but when she says the word "weird," it's like a switch gets flipped in her head and her alternate personality takes over. Very sad. Someone else posted here about the Monarch programming of celebrities; check into it. It's bizarre!

catherine said...

GpPrincess, you in now way offended me. I <3 the pharmacists that I work with....and to be honest trust them a whole lot more than I trust the majority of the docs that I work with. I was just stating that some nurses are very well-versed on meds----some of course just don't care and just hand out meds without thinking.
I guess I just don't work in an atmosphere where pharmacists are overlooked. We actually have a pharmacist that rounds with us...and we usually double-team the residents:)
