Sometimes when a man cheats, the wife is cheating too. OR, she's just not that into him anymore. Not every situation like this ends in divorce. Not every situation is the man being a cad. He could be a good partner, just not a good sex partner. I never had this scenario in my life, but like separate bedrooms, separate lovers can work for some people. After 30 + years of marriage, few people continue the same connection.
