Blind Item #2

The Pr people of this former A list tweener turned B+list mostly movie actor have moved on from the ex-girlfriend debacle by creating a hashtag that implies he is hooking up with a co-star from his latest movie. Her PR people are less than thrilled.

if this is about zac and sami what was the # ?

Did a quick look through Twitter and Instagram and it looks like #zanna is the hashtag. There are already some photoshops to push the hashtag.

And of course, it's starting arguments between tweenaged fangirls who prefer #bechloe or #benanna.

But as far as Zac's PR people go...at least they started trying to earn their money.

lauren said...

ah makes sense now, i saw that and thought what does his ex sami have to do with this?

Anna said...

This is Zac and Anna, Sami being the ex.
The hastag is strictly for movie promotion and nothing more
One of the 'Mike & Dave Needs Wedding Dates' twitter sites is using it.

lauren said...

what does sami have to do with it? she did favorited a mike an dave tweet?

GroovieMann said...

They probably should have picked an actress not rumored to be closeted herself.

RandomGuy said...

Zac and Sami had an ugly breakup that was rumored to get uglier before the PR people stepped in

lauren said...

they did? zac unfollow and deleted everything, and sami was seen with a new guy the day after? is that what you mean buy ugly? or sami still using zacs name in interviews.

RandomGuy said...

Actually, it makes sense because if she is closeted then she doesn't have to keep trotting out the British boyfriend every 6 months for a pap shot

Anna said...

Zac's ex was mentioned in the blind. Sami is the ex..
Sami did favorite one and is probably trying to act like everything is fine.

She's not rumored to be closeted. Pitch Perfect has a big following with gay women and they treat a friendship between 2 of the characters like they're in love with each other. They want Anna to be gay, but she isn't. I've never read rumors about Anna being gay, other than from Pitch Perfect fans that want her to be. As far as Hollywood goes, no one talks about her being gay.

lauren said...

@anna
so what the actually truth then? everything is not fine, and is jealous?

Rory said...

Forgot to say, Anna's never been super public with her dating life, but no one I've ever heard that's not a gay fan of hers has questioned those relationships she's been in. She was with Edgar Wright for years, she's been with her current boyfriend for years, and there's a few other guys from before Edgar that she dated.

I am now going to go on Twitter and say "Word from the crew of PP3 is that Bechloe is not going to happen because RORY HATES YOU. YOU PERSONALLY!"

;)

Rory said...

I'm sure it's going to happen in the 3rd movie. The reason I hate it is that Jesse is similar to Kay's husband and Beca is similar to Kay. She created a love story between characters that are similar, or were in the 1st movie to her and her husband. The Bechloe fans are so aggressive, trying so hard to get this relationship to be real that Kay's now in a position where she had to let someone else write characters she created and two characters that are similar to her and her husband or she had to write it herself and write the characters in a way she never intended.

That said I can't see how the pressure from fans wouldn't lead to Bechloe happening. There's too much pressure from fans for it to not happen.

RandomGuy said...

I can get that but a writer shouldn't put so much of themselves into a character that they can't take the step back needed to make changes. Besides, making that happen at least gives the script /something/...sounds from recent interviews from the cast they are getting stir crazy waiting for shit to pull together.

RandomGuy said...

I should also note, Ben must be a patient man to put up with all the rumors. I know if it was me I'd be setting fire to the interwebs

Rory said...

That's a reason so many actors date actresses or directors, producers, anyone in the industry. The thinking is that they understand the business and won't get upset by rumors or seeing the person they're with kissing someone on screen. Ben's not on camera, but he's worked on several movies with her. She's kissed guys, had love scenes with guys in those movies, so if he were jealous she would have saw that jealousy come out by now.

Rory said...

It's hard, because writers are always told to write what they know. There's always a part of the writer in their work and Beca isn't exactly like Kay, but there's similarities. Everyone working on the movie knows about the fans love of Bechloe. I wouldn't normally have a problem with it, it's just that I see Kay struggle with writing these characters she loves in a way that she never intended. I really can't see it not happening in PP3. Movie theaters would be burned to the ground if there's no Bechloe.

poe said...

Correct. The hashtag was not from Zac's PR team. It was from the Mike & Dave Instagram account who are simply promoting their movie. People need to chill.

RandomGuy said...

I'm very familiar with the writer process (although not screenplays). And I think the maxim is always "No plan survives first contact with the enemy". That was either Patton or Batman (from Young Justice).

I can see why it's hard for her, but it seems if this is the swan song, just ramp up the ridiculousness of the premise and popularity for 11 and play it all for laughs.

RandomGuy said...

That makes a lot of sense but I imagine it also makes it hard...basically every relationship turns into long distance because of shooting schedules.

Speaking of which, if PP3 stays on track our vacation may coincide with one of your locations so I plan on bringing a big sign that says 'More screen time for Rory' to further mortify my girl while she fangirls over seeing Elizabeth Banks. ;)

Rory said...

I have to be honest, the script and everything with this movie has changed so much over the last year that I don't even know if we'll shoot where we have for PP1 and PP2. I'm assuming we'll be at some of the same locations, but after everything that's changed I wouldn't be surprised if they said we're shooting in China! :) I hope the shooting schedule matches up with your trip!

A few months ago I was having lunch with some crew from the movies and we started tossing out our dumb ideas for the 3rd movie. Mine was Fat Amy gets stranded in the middle of nowhere in Georgia. She has to walk for help, no signal on her phone, finds herself at a cross roads, she says she'd sell her soul to get out of there. The devil appears, makes a deal with her, and she gets back home to the Bellas. They realize she sold her soul to the Devil and make a deal with him that if they can beat a group of Hell's best singers the deal Fat Amy made is voided.

It's "Devil went down to Georgia," but a singing competition instead of a fiddle competition! "Pitch Perfect 3: The Bellas Went Down to Georgia." :)

Anna said...

Don't even know why this is blind it is full of mistakes.

RandomGuy said...

I think if they stick with the Fat Amy and Bumper get married idea then the riff-off should be at the reception between the Bellas, Treblemakers, Fat Amy's family, and a random table of people

Anna said...

I heard that even though it was a PR relationship that Sami was jealous of everyone and everything that Zac paid any attention to.
Especially some of Zac's friends.

RandomGuy said...

Dude! Take the free trip to China! That would be awesome.

And the Bellas could have a riff off with a C-pop group, a K-pop group, and Babymetal. I would probably laughed until I peed if that happened.

And now it's going to get worse (and has started on Twitter already) since Aubrey came out in Nylon as bi.

I hope most celebs have a policy of "don't read the comments". Between "they're gay", "they're cheating", "they're on the casting couch", "they're a dog/slut", "it's just a PR stunt", and all the rest...jesus it must suck.

Rory said...

I thought you were joking about Aubrey! Just looked that up and was surprised how easily the interviewer got it out of her. I did see a tweet from someone that said this is proof that Anna's gay, but I'm not sure how one person saying they're gay means this other person is gay.

Let me ask you this, how do you think Anna's large lesbian following is going to react on the day Anna gets married or does an interview where she flat out says she's straight and has never been with a woman or been attracted to one? Would they still be in denial? Or do you think she would lose a huge part of her fanbase?

Rory said...

Realized you said Nylon, but I read Aubrey's interview with The Advocate. Is it the same interview?

RandomGuy said...

Advocate yes, Nylon was me multitasking and not paying attention to my typing.

That question is a fantastic one and I'm not sure of the answer. If I were to logic through it based on normal reactions of people complicated by group-think I would say it would break down like this:

- There will be a small but vocal contingent of deniers who say the marriage or statement is just because of Hollywood pressure to keep her in the closet. Given how blunt and up front she is, any thought of someone being able to keep her in the closet (if she were) is ridiculous...I don't see her as the sort of person that would put up with that shit. And a lot of her fans get that about her so this group is just going to be the hardcore obsessive ones.

-There will be a similar small group that feels betrayed or hurt and will lash out vocally and be douche-nozzles. These are the ones she'll lose. But it will be a small percentage and barely noticeable.

- The largest group will hem and haw for a couple days until something else distracts them, Anna posts a wedding dress or swimsuit pic on instagram, or Taylor Swift starts dating guy number 2,004. Then they will forget, move on, and still be fans.

It may sound cynical but people tend to prefer to move in groups and in directions that require the least amount of thought and effort. Staying a fan and just shrugging and moving on is the path of least resistance. They may not be as vocal as in the past but they will still be there. Plus, they will always have their daydreams, and no statement will touch that. That's what the entertainment industry is...creation of daydreams and distracting moments.

Rory said...

I wasn't sure how they would react, mostly because I haven't read very much from the fans until recently. I would see a comment here or there, but I never went very deep reading the comments on Anna's Instagrams or Tweets.

Since I started looking deeper I came to realize how intense some of her fans are, so I was a little worried that if Anna made a statement before Pitch Perfect 3 came out it might hurt the movie. I don't think she would do that, making big public statements of that nature isn't her style. I'm glad I got a second opinion on this! I feel a little better about how Pitch Perfect 3 will do if Anna gave a statement or got married before it came out.

RandomGuy said...

Sounds like someone thinks she's about to become Mrs scruffy British hipster ????

Rory said...

HA HA! :) No idea if she is! I was thinking this before PP2 came out. Not just Anna, but Brittany too. A lot of us wondered if the fans would go out to see the movie if either of them got married or flat out said they were straight in an interview. I don't know if anyone would know that Anna got married. She's definitely the type that could easily get married and everyone would find out about it weeks later.

Randomguy said...

I think Brittany will be better off because she's more public about her boyfriends
