Like I said on the original, not every kid in private school comes from a rich family. So $1,000 can help a lot.

Every student at a school? or a class? A grand for a kiddy party? Do schools allow lavish parties for each student's b day? I'm not getting this at all

I hope at least some of the needy parents put that money towards bills and didn't blow all of it on birthday stuff. Honestly, how superficial. Way to teach kids what's really important in life.

Here's an idea: Celebrate at home. And stop showing off.

Exactly.

This isn't kindness, it is narcissism.

Back when I was a young whippersnapper, no one celebrated birthdays at school. Yes, I'm that old.

What a pain when the parent shows up with 45 birthday cupcakes, all overflowing with too much frosting. The parent leaves, and its up to the teacher to deal with that shit. Oh yeah, forgot about any lessons for the remainder of the day.

+1, this doesn't seem like a kindness as much as narcissism and superiority somehow

I get it. It's better to have the party at the school because all of the kids get to enjoy it. So often when you plan a party many of the kids from school don't come so having it at the school maximizes the turnout and no mess at the crib. Nice gesture.

I agree. This way the whole class gets to celebrate as well, no one is left out. It's a nice gesture and it's sure to put a smile on every kids face.
