George Michael Died Of Natural Causes

George Michael died of natural causes as the result of heart disease and a fatty liver, a British coroner says.

Darren Salter, senior coroner for Oxfordshire, says a post-mortem has found that the singer died of "dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver."

Dilated cardiomyopathy is a condition in which the heart's ability to pump blood is limited, while myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle.

Michael died at his home in Oxfordshire county, southern England, on Dec. 25. He was 53. An initial autopsy failed to determine the cause of death, and his publicist stated at the time that the singer had not been ill.

Salter said Tuesday that because Michael died of natural causes, no inquest will be held.

Sad as it is that he's gone at a relatively young age--relieved to know it was natural causes so that other speculative falsehoods can be dismissed

George Michael lived a fast life of drugs and alcohol and while he achieved periods of sobriety, he had not been sober at the time of his death and both alcohol and drug use take a great toll on one's heart and liver.

This is not speculation, nor is it a falsehood. The British coroner is being generous with his assessment and as a fellow fan of George Michael, I don't blame him.

I think the results show he died from a preexisting condition, not from drugs directly. His near fatal illnesses in recent years certainly contributed to his death, but since there was no foul play, they do not need to make results public.

You can party call your life but a serious illness will kill you. I miss him, so talented and (quietly)generous. One of the good guys.

The british tabloid the sun tried to slander him even in death. They have no boundaries at all. Rest in peace.

The media really don't give a shit about the people behind each story as long as they get more and more clicks. I used to think they "sometimes forget" that there are real people with real lives/experiences behind every story (mostly more privileged than the average reader, yes, but still humans nonetheless). Now I'm cynical enough to think they just don't care.

Heart issues would manifest as extreme tiredness, for one thing. Mr. Michael ignored some of the warning signs. Too bad. RIP.

Oh, his lifestyle most definitely hastened his "natural causes".
