Todd Palin Filing For Divorce

The National Enquirer is reporting that Todd Palin is going to file for divorce from Sarah Palin. That would be kind of a crusher for her family values platform. Of course the fact her teen daughter got pregnant and her eldest son had a shotgun wedding probably don't really help either. Oh, and then of course the affairs, the snorting coke off an oil barrel and that pretty much dooms your chances of winning anything unless you are Bill Clinton.

Todd is apparently tired of all the scandals and media attention and has said enough. I could see that. I could also see him setting himself up for life by writing a tell-all. Bristol and Levi's books would be like pocket change if Todd wrote a true tell-all book. If he did that thing would be snapped by the left and the right and people who don't care about politics. Face it, at this point, I think everyone is fascinated by Palin scandals and they really do not have anything to do with politics, just juiciness.

Greatest Wife Swap Ever

I don't know how the producers of Celebrity Wife Swap managed to pull this one off, but it will be a winner. If you have never seen the show Wife Swap, it basically involves two polar opposite households swapping wives for a week. It can be and is usually really good because it is so easy to find couples that are polar opposites and the results in that kind of case tend to be good.

Anyway, for Celebrity Wife Swap, the producers are going to swap Ted Haggard's wife with Gary Busey's live in girlfriend. Do you remember Ted Haggard? He once was a hugely popular pastor who spoke out against gays and drugs and ended up doing guys and doing drugs. So, he quit in shame, started a new church and has probably been keeping his gay thing on the down low. You know his wife has just got to be a bundle of fun.

Can you imagine Ted Haggard's wife having to hang out with Gary Busey for a week. Well at least she will have an honest relationship for a week. On the flip side, anyone who can live with Gary Busey full-time has got to be very easy going and I think it will be fun to see her in Ted Haggard's life.

Scientology Is In Trouble

If you are as interested in the downfall of Scientology as I am, then I encourage you to read anything and everything by Village Voice editor, Tony Ortega. The guy is brilliant and spends a great deal of his journalistic energy on bringing down Scientology. He has a great, but very long article about Marty Rathbun and the torture he has gone through the past five months because of the attack first policy of Scientology. Marty and some of the other recent defectors from Scientology are starting to have a serious effect, because the defectors are the rich people. If no one can afford to buy all the programs and services then the house of cards will come tumbling down. You get the feeling that all it will take is one spark and then Scientology as we know it would be no more. I don't care what religion you practice, I just don't think its right to make people have to pay to succeed in your religion, and if they try and leave, to hunt them down and make them come back. I don't think it is right to make someone sign a billion year contract to work for free and control their lives. I don't think it is right to split parents from their children forever just because a parent leaves the religion. Anyway, I hope you have a chance to read Tony's article.

Today's Blind Items - The Director's Wife Has Been Busy

Apparently the Director's Wife is separated and in the process of getting a divorce. It started months ago when her husband was dropped from a couple of projects. He directed a hit movie and now has nothing lined up and nothing down the pipeline. It might even have something to do with what he had his wife do to secure him that directing job. Meanwhile our actress has been taking "meetings" in NY and has a couple lined up in L.A.

Last week our actress had a major meltdown during a sitdown for a monthly magazine that your parents probably read but you have never opened yourself because she was prodded about "internet rumors." Those rumors included why she had to go to a network and discuss her involvement there with a former President of the network.

Once those questions were asked, our actress and her publicist went ballistic and another interviewer was brought in to finish the interview. Despite our actress and the Director showing up at an event together, our actress had confided to a makeup artist at the magazine interview that she was not sure if her husband would be there or not.

Out in Los Angeles during Emmy week, our actress did not wear her wedding ring and told this B- list actress/Emmy nominee/one of my favorite people who is finally getting the love she deserves on a hit network show that she's about to be back on the market. At a party during that week, our actress was the focus of attention from a long line of guys who wanted to meet her. I bet that is not all they wanted.

The Director has moved out and has another apartment close to the one he shared with our actress.

R.E.M. Calls It Quits

Bands break up everyday, but when a band has been together for 30 years, I think it is important to reflect for a few minutes on said band. I have loved R.E.M since the first time I heard them. They are one of those rare groups that was able to produce great songs and albums over a long period of time and never really had a dry spell. One of the other great things about them is they were a band that sounded like their albums but without lip syncing. When you went to a R.E.M. show you knew you were going to get everything from the group and that included real vocals. I don't think you get the same energy when there are backing tracks and lip syncing. It is just not the same thing. You might get a good show but you are not going to get that live whatever happens happens kind of vibe. If you go see a Britney Spears show, it might be good, but it is kind of like a ride at a theme park. You buy an expensive ticket, buy some souvenirs, wait in line and get on a ride which is pleasant but the outcome is pretty much known from the beginning and the experience is the same for every rider. That is not how music is supposed to be and R.E.M knew it.

One More Year Before Courtney Stodden Poses For Playboy

Somewhere lost in the shuffle of 16 year old Courtney Stodden marrying 51 year old Doug Hutchison is that Courtney has now turned 17 and is within one year of reaching her ultimate goal which is to appear in Playboy. She might not have said it publicly, but I promise you that is exactly what will happen when she turns 18. If you don't believe me, then click here. I encourage you to read her Twitter feeds, or as I like to call it, child porn. Remember this is a recently turned 17 year old who is writing it. In the meantime though she has a season of her reality show to get through with Doug. I might actually give it two seasons rather than one but it depends what network picks it up. If it is Oxygen you stay on there forever unless you are Paris Hilton. If it is NBC or something then it will last a few episodes and she will be counting down the days to the Playboy check.

For some reason reality shows do not do well on networks. I mean the celebrity based ones. You would not see a Basketball Wives on NBC or Real Housewives. Do you remember when Victoria Beckham had a reality show? They put that on a real network and it just did not work. There just are not enough people who are going to watch it. Despite all the attention they receive in the tabloids, with the exception of Jersey Shore and a couple of others, the reality shows do not have big audiences by network standards but can be huge by cable standards.
