The Goopster Is At It Again

I have to admit it. I have tried to go cold turkey from GOOP. I had to. Thursday mornings when the weekly newsletters came out were driving me crazy and I was spending way too much time writing about The Goopster and how she had no clue about what real life is like. Well, I gave in yesterday. I know, I know, but I had not eaten in 30 minutes so my blood sugar was low. What did I find? I found The Goopster not only modeling clothes for Spring and Summer, but then trying to sell them all to you. So, if you have $18,000 just sitting around you too, can be just like The Goopster because you know, if you cannot come up with the money for Chloe blazer and clutches and Stella McCartney dresses, you might as well just stay home all summer, or at least do not hang out with The Goopster. Yes, she has some lower priced options in the newsletter, but which ones are first? Which ones is she pointing out? All the pricey ones. To her, $18,000 is like parking meter money, but this is the thing, even if you drop the $18,000, it only gets you like three outfits. What the eff are you supposed to do the other 87 days of summer?

Ya know, when you look around and see all the suffering in the world, and within your own community, see families struggling to make ends meet and provide the basics of life it gives you perspective.

Then you start to ask yourself: Why is Goopy's head shoved so far up her ass that she can't see anything but herself? Sure she's no different that any other rich, privileged socialite; but there's just something about the way she comes across that makes you want to loathe her more. It makes one wonder how Chris Martin can stand the very sight of her.

For $18,000 it should be a more interesting outfit. This is bland, lacks character, is unflattering, and not particularly on trend. I usually like Gwyneth's street style (HATE her red carpet looks) so I was actually eager to read her recommendations in Goop. This was a big letdown.

(And I'm not going to even get into what a waste of $18K it is.)

Vintage, clueless, pretentious Goopy. The way she recommends you spend thousands of dollars for "casual" clothing when people are losing their homes makes me homicidal.

And I wonder what she actually pays for ?

i wonder what her mother thinks of her.

SO over this epic pendeja!

Wow. I knew she was pretentious and privileged and found her irritating, but I never understood the level of venom that some people have for her. Now I get it.

The Stella dress is already sold out on the website Goop links to. :-/

I love me some clothes but even if I was richer than rich, I just cannot fathom spending that much money on anything.

@ Rocket Queen - Exactly my thoughts. What dumb Bitch would publish this in a bad economy? The Goopster/Fishsticks. Just clueless.

I do NOT understand how Stella McCartney has become such a successful designer unless people just want clothes designed by the daughter of a Beatle. They are usually drab, seriously unflattering, and in person look and feel kind of cheap. Then there is the RIDICULOUS prices!!! Especially when they seem to be so cheaply made. I do think the sandles are cute, though. That's about it for this outfit.

People who don't appreciate clothing and design always say sh-t like this. I'm not the biggest fan of Goop, but I do like clothes. People talk about buying fancy cars and nice homes and the newest iPad or a new iPhone every time the next one comes out, but no one blabs on about how people are starving around the world or the economy sucks then, are they?

With that said, everything you wear, no matter where you shop, even Forever 21 or Old Navy or Target, is influenced by people like Stella McCartney and Hannah MacGibbon (Chloe). I think Gwyneth is a pretentious, I-try-too-hard twat, but I don't think she's going out and telling people that you have to buy these things to be fashionable. She's taking what's hot for Spring to give people inspiration and ideas for what to buy to be "on trend" or fashionable or whatever this season.

Yeah, I just defended Goop. WTF.

Huh. There's families struggling on $18K and less, and this precious one posts this crap.

I don't look at GOOP, but the "lower priced options" must also cost a small fortune.

Bitch doesn't have to worry about gas and grocery prices, so of course she can blow $18K on hideous clothes!

You know what? I honestly think it's funny. I like Gwyneth. She's monumentally clueless, but I think she's a good actress, and there's no one else like her. Bless her heart.

Ida, in the south "Bless her heart" is the best way to say something nasty about someone.."She so bucktooth she could eat an apple through a picket fence BLESS HER HEART!" She's clueless, Bless her heart!

@Sherry -- Oh, I live in the south. Well, the *northern* half of the south, at least (there's a big difference between VA and LA, as you probably know). But my words were chosen carefully, trust me. ;-)

@Ida- I think the reason its hard to live and let live with Gweneth Paltrow can be explained just by watching her character on Glee.
And she does it in interviews too. Like when she went on Chelsea Handler and said the word 'cunt' for no reason when describing her mean grandmother, simply to cater to that type of audience.
I guess I dont like her because although she is obviously clueless and artistocratic and out of touch ala Maria Antoinette, she tries to come across as street, as hip, as ironic, and as chill in a young- ive survived shit and now i smugly am gonna tell u how to survivor shit too- comradery way. Sigh. I just really hate her character on Glee and I think her voicce is shit.

Ida Blankenship said...

@Jasmine -- oh, I think she's insanely annoying, don't get me wrong! But I am also totally bemused by her. I'm glad she exists, honestly.

She does have this desperate need to be liked, though, which is weird. I mean...GLEE? Honestly?! I miss the perpetually-slouching Manhattan Ice Queen of the nineties who would NEVER deign to do television.

Bitch didn't pay a dime for that stuff she's modeling yet is urging the public to buy it?

I hope she chokes on a Faberge egg.

I actually get tight in the chest with rage everytime I read about ANY THING this clueless bitch has said, done, thought. She - and granted she is not alone in this, just horrifyingly open with it - is clueless about what your average "fly over state" American family is dealing with.

Even if I wanted to duplicate this look at Target - or even The Salvation Army - I don't have the wiggle room in my budget. I am trying to survive on less per year than her outfit costs .. Actual it horrifies me to do the Math on this, but I am surviving on $13,000 after taxes. She is just an elitist skat and I also wonder what her Mom thinks of this. Blythe strikes me as a fairly socially conscious. I would think her daughter would make her nuts with this crap.

I used to really like her when she was dating Brad Pitt, she seemed pretty normal back then. I think she changed when her dad died and she got married to that Coldplay guy and moved to England. She probably has no idea how bad some people have it in the U.S. right now.
