Wow, makes you wonder about the chicken or egg nature of her and Antonio's break-up. We know she went to rehab several times during their marriage. But then we know he cheated on his first wife.
Very difficult to be an aging actress once known for her beauty - or an aging actor known for his beauty, for that matter. Even Mary Pickford was a drunk in her later years. You have to find a cause, like Doris Day and her animals. Otherwise it's hard to get up in the morning. Frank Langella writes in his book about how terribly lonely Elizabeth Taylor was in the last years of her life.

I love John Waters and would kill to meet him. So much so that my husband bought me his last book.
I agree that her biggest demon is she put her greatest self worth on her sexuality and (young) appearance and now that she's aging she is rudderless. She does need to pull her head out of her ass and focus on doing something for someone or something else. Focus on something other than her own vanity.
Awww Sherry! John was the BEST! He is a big fan of SD based band The Locust. One of their members introduced me to John after he did a spoken word tour stop at UCSD. We talked about Hatchetface and he signed ALL of my Waters books and DVDs. He is a personal idol of mine.

It's gotta be tough to grow older for these once bombshells. Mel needs to find something meaningful. The man is gone, the kids are grown, she's got a bad tattoo and plastic surgery. I feel sorry for her.

Whoa whoa whoa LadyH. I just saw this. YOU'VE HEARD OF THE LOCUST TOO?? I will never forget seeing the Blood Brothers play at Great American Music Hall (SF) and this band comes out dressed like locusts and plays 10 seconds of hardcore screamo punk. It was an experience I will never forget.
