Ethan Zohn's Cancer Returns
Ethan Zohn has given an interview to People and he told them his cancer has returned. Doctors apparently discovered it back in September. Ethan has such a positive attitude about his life and his battle with cancer and I think it is amazing that he does not ever seem to give up. Granted it is easier to not give up when you are making a million bucks a year and do not have to work a real job, but I don't think there is anyone who begrudges him for anything he gets or earns because of the way he handles himself. It seems like he devotes himself to causes and charities almost constantly and if there was ever a better person for Kneepads to be Kneepads with, this is the guy. He is planning on running the NYC Marathon and then having a chemo treatment two days later.

I always wonder what's worse: being diagnosed with cancer, or being diagnosed with cancer AGAIN. That has gotta be just...ugh, I don't even wanna think about it. Good luck to him in his fight, I wish him all the best.
I really like Ethan & his fiancee Jenna, so I was saddened to hear this. Having dealt with a lot of serious health issues myself - though not cancer - I can understand how difficult this must be for them. But they also have each other, and that is just awesome. It really shows the character of a person when they have to deal with a significant other who has serious health problems, especially ones the diseases that can be deadly. I've seen so many people bail, but Jenna stays by his side. Now that's love. I hope that the treatments work well so they can get to living a normal life.
I saw them on TAR and I really liked him. Sad.
@Patty he won his season of Survivor and had been dating another survivor winner Jenna for the last 8 years.
He is a good guy and gives back a lot to the community.
Money has nothing to do with health.
I always thought he was such a sweetie. Good luck to him.
I have a friend who has gone through this twice. So I can tell you it's always there like a shadow hanging over her.

Cancer does not discriminate due to income. Or Steve Jobs and so many others would still be here. Cancer just SUCKS. :(
I love Ethan, too. Such an amazing attitude. I believe his girlfriend Jenna also won her season of Survivor too, right? Great people, by all accounts. Best of luck, E!
Cancer is just so random. I lost one of my friends last week after an eight-month struggle with a brain tumor. He never had a chance.
I only wish the best for Ethan.
Surfer I am so sorry to hear this (HUGS). And you are right, it is so random. No matter how much money you have in the bank, or cushy job you might have, you fight like hell when you get this diganosis.

I'm sad to hear this about Ethan Zohn. He's always seemed like a decent guy, and yes, cancer is unfair and nondiscriminatory . I wish him health.
I do understand what Enty is saying, though. I've often thought that---I see people with horrible illnesses every day and the people with money do have an easier time of it. It's not that cancer is any easier for them, or that the struggle or fear are any less, but there are simple things that make a difference for people--and that people without money can't afford. For instance, a single mother with breast cancer still has to care for her child/ren, while someone with money can afford to have someone else cook meals or even provide child care. A person with money can afford help with housecleaning, which is often difficult for people with serious illness; a person with money can afford to heat or cool their house to their own comfort, not worrying about the bill; a person with money can get medical specialists to treat them. THe list goes on and on.
Thanks JoElla, it means a lot. My friend was diagnosed in February with Stage IV glio (the same tumor that Ted Kennedy had). Other than a biopsy, there was no treatment, no options.
Congrats - that's great news, but I suppose the fear never really leaves you. Hugs back.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said, about Ethan, and having the resources for those extra things that can make a huge difference in coping with day-to-day living.
My father was diagnosed with liver cancer last week. He's not even 60. It's in the early stages so that's positive. Doesn't smoke but drank for as long as I can remember. The alcohol ruined his kidney.
About three years ago my mother was told by a physician she might have breast cancer - MIGHT - after six months of worry and anxiety it turned out she actually never which we were all grateful for.
I'm so sorry about your father, Jason - better to focus on treatment and getting better, than what may have caused this. That's no longer important. Wishing you and your family only good things.
My father has had both stomach and prostate cancer, and is in remission.

Cancer sucks!!!
I had the chance to meet Ethan in Vancouver at a couple of Free the Children events. He is so sincere and works so hard on the behalf of those who need help. His charity, Grassroot Soccer, uses soccer to reach young Africans and educate them about HIV/AIDS prevention. I hope that he can beat this illness again.
this breaks my heart... i love me some ethan, but i also know that he is a fighter and has so much love inside him. i wish him the very, very best.
Folks, Ethan not only doesn't make a million dollars a year but he works harder than most people (and it would appear the author of this blog). Please quit sitting there thinking how much easier it is for him to deal with his cancer (which is a very rare one) because you think he's sitting on a pile of money and has hired help and stuff. He doesn't. He's a regular guy, only better. I wish I could spend all my time running around raising money to help make peoples' lives better.
