The $6.5M Wedding

I don't really think that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are spending $6.5M on their wedding. Honestly, that is a ton of money and Justin has money and lots of it, but I'm not sure he has $6.5M to spend one night. I know it is a destination wedding, but unless they paid for everyone to fly out on a private jet to Naples and not just some as been reported, the wedding really just costs  the same as any other wedding that people would have if they decided to have a three day wedding extravaganza with food and booze for hundreds. From the photo published in Life & Style it sure looks like the wedding festivities kicked off on a high note. Of course, don't forget that the wedding will not be legal in the US, so there will probably have to be another wedding probably at some point in the future. Or, they could just consider themselves married.

Not legal in the U.S., huh? Pretty slick of them.

Someone (Jessica) looks much happier than the other (Justin).

Is Justin appeasing her with a non-binding ceremony so she gets attention and a (hopefully) pretty dress? Me thinks this is still fake.

Or they could just get married at a courthouse so they don't have to fool with the international rules, like my husband and I did. Wait nevermind, we're not celebrities and people don't think I'm a lesbian. ;)

He looks so uninterested in those pictures

I wonder if he's going to wear his $25k cock ring to the ceremony. (Was that a blind item reveal or just the popular guess?)

Maybe I'm wrong, but he comes across to me as a nice guy. Saw him host an ESPN award show a few years ago and he just came across as nice AND good at what he does.

I couldn't tell you one movie she's been in without looking her up on IMDB.

Justin's thinking is that $6.5 million is a smart investment. Blow Jessica away in a lavish extravaganza of a wedding in a foreign land. But when it comes to divorce, in a few years, it will be easy and cheap because the ceremony wasn't legal in the U.S. Just look at Aston Kutcher and his situation with Demi. So Spend a few million today and save tens of millions tomorrow.

SusanB - ITA on the nice guy bit. I like him and thing he could a LOT better for himself.

curlyhairslacker - LOL! "Wait nevermind, we're not celebrities and people don't think I'm a lesbian. ;)"

Why isn't it legal in the US? I got married in Costa Rica and it was recognized here and another friend got married in Tuscany and it was recognized in the US.

I don't even know why they're bothering with this when she supposedly has a lady love of her life on the side.

If it is for the pretty dress it is all worht it:)

I got married at city hall in a white button down shirt and jeans, and I still want a dress:(

Oh and no I was not knocked up:)
We were together for 20 years before hand, hence, city hall wedding......

Why isn't it legal in the US?

It is legal in the US, just requires additional paperwork. Enty doesn't know what (s)he's talking about. Also, Justin Timerlake absolutely has $6.5m to blow on a 3 day party. For an upscale destination wedding it's easy to spend in the millions for a multiday event.

oh Enty for a 'lawyer' that was a really silly mistake to make, of course you can get legally married in Italy! Come on now! Unless you know something else that we don't ... ?

She's buying a beard, and much more publicity, just as her career would be dying, probably.

He's buying 'credibility' in his Real Serious Hollywood Acting Career, AND a media obfuscation of what he's REALLY up to with his dick. She's kind of like a beard for a guy who wants to be a WHORE FOREVER on the DL...what would they call that?
I know! He's the 'beard', she's the 'landing strip'---in that a wife gives him the adult credibility he doesn't have.

That's all I can imagine would explain much about this odd, cold relationship. I thought this theory up after yesterday's thread.
(I do think he may be a bi-whore, too. Much more pressure to hide it all.)

Holy crap, then, is every couple married somewhere else in the world not considered a legally married couple when they visit the United States? I'm glad to hear Enty got this wrong but really am curious what his thinking was in making the comment.

My ex-husband wanted to get married in Italy (so his elderly grandmother could attend) and what we were told was that, in order for it to be recognized as legal in the US, we had to have (at minimum) a civil service at the court house (where we would be legally married.) A religious ceremony would not have been enough.

His parents were married in Italy and they had to do the two ceremonies, as well.

(We ended up getting married in the US, though, so we did all the research for nothing.)

If a wedding is legal in the foreign country then almost always it is legal in the US.

Does not contradict my statement above but I found the reason it may be invalid:

Residence Requirements

Marriages abroad are subject to the residency requirements of the country in which the marriage is to be performed. There is almost always a lengthy waiting period.

My hubby & I got married in San Miguel, Mexico...unbeknownst to everyone there we had gone to the local courthouse before we left & got married "on paper". Only the guy who "married" us (in MX) knew that it was just that.... a ceremony. Incidentally, cost was 20k to fly a dozen people down (20+ more flew themselves) & party like rockstars for a week, pretty lavishly...relatively speaking. I'm still shocked JT and JB are going this far. So weird.

Yes that was revealed on several sites!

For those who say he or she doesnt look happy, they never do. It is odd and cold relationship, like a business arrangement. They have ZERO chemistry betwn them. And hey, if they hv 6 million to spend on a wedding, go for it!! Enjoy!! U cant take it with u!!

You have to fill out a boat load of paperwork, pay a bunch of money, and stop by the US embassy in Italy, but Americans certainly can get married in Italy and have it be legal in the US.

I got married in a foreign country, and it was legal here. It was so legal I had to get a divorce!

I wanted an Italian wedding, but the EURO killed that idea for me.
