RIP - thoughts and prayers for him and his loved ones
Very sad, bipolar disorder is a difficult disease.
It is and I bet time spent with Gordon effing Ramsey didnt help. I swear that man is a virus.
@ Orvilla--I am no fan of Gordon Ramsey by any means, but to blame him for a contestant with a mental disorder is totally uncalled for. This man's issues were there prior to his signing up for the competition, and were not a direct cause of his time spent on the show. If he couldn't handle the pressure of a cooking competition hosted by a group of nasty ass critical judges, he shouldn't have signed on in the first place.
As much as a d-bag "character" Gordon Ramsey plays on MasterChef, he isn't responsible for this guy's suicide. Mental illness is a bitch, and to blame anything other than the disease is wrong. Unless you've experienced the utter hopelessness that kind of disorder can bring on, you just can't understand. I don't even consider this a suicide, I consider this a man who lost his battle with a disease. R.I.P.
(P.S. Gordon isn't a jerk all the time - i've been watching MasterChef Junior, and he's actually kind of cool to the kids.)
Gordon is actually pretty nice on Master Chef. He only gets nuts when he is running the brigade in Hell's Kitchen with a bunch of inept cafeteria workers.
A lot of ill people have delusions of grandeur and are drawn to reality shows thinking it will bring them fame and fortune.
He was just a sick man.
@Tyger - he's actually been awesome with the kids. I've caught bits and pieces of MC Jr and I've been very impressed with how all three chefs handle the kids. Especially Gordon ... I never took him for a softy.
Damn RIP
If anyone is on facebook, you should check out Amy's Baking Company. It was a restaurant shown on Kitchen Nightmares. The page had been hacked a few times, but when the actual owners post something, it is always a hilarious hot mess.
@pip- I was just there and looked in. No hours were posted and it was closed. I asked a business nearby if they were open and was told they are open sometimes but only for reservations (probably from the few loyal customers remaining.)
My boss worked directly with Gordon Ramsay on one of the restaurants for the show six years ago, so I dealt with him alot. He was a very nice man, even a bit quiet and a joy to do business with. I got the feeling his show crazy persona is just a character.
Rest in peace, Josh Marks. Chemical imbalances are heartbreaking and rough to deal with.
it's not a character @cookie, if you that is how he was raised in the kitchen brigade under Marco White.
If you see a few old documentaries of Gordon starting out. He was actually worse to the staff.
But it was only when he was in the kitchen. Most of the contestants gush how great he was to them away from dinner service.
He is a perfectionist.
Rest in peace...terrible. He obviously, like most ppl w/ bipolar disorder, kept a lot of his pain hidden.
Trust me, I know.
Lots of suicides this year.
I didn't know him, therefore he was a good person by default.
RIP then.
This is soo sad...he seemed like a really nice, genuine person on the show..I was rooting for him on the show

@Tyger Lilly [Paraphrase]: 'I don't even consider this as a suicide. It's a person who lost a battle with a disease.'
Bless you for your perspective. Many people fight, and fight hard, but sometimes you can't prevail.
