Blind Items Revealed #4

June 8, 2015

I don’t think she could have got away with this two decades ago when she was at her peak, but there was this former A list singer this weekend who has not done much since then but some reality television and had a few legal issues. At an event she insisted that people only refer to her as Ms.__________. No first names. She even made the organizers of the charity event do the same thing.

Toni Braxton

Meh, if they're not her close friends, family, or business associates, they really shouldn't be calling her by her first name anyway. We expect kids to refer to their school teachers and principals as Mr., Ms. or Mrs. ______________. Hell, when my kids were little and I'd go for parent/teacher conferences or other school events, I referred to the teachers & principals by Mr., Ms. or Mrs.____________, and they reciprocated by calling me Mr. Eddy. Unfortunately, I'm afraid millennials have brought a "cool casual" aspect to many aspects of social interaction and tried to make everything as informal as possible. I'm still somewhat "old school" and I believe etiquette and formality should trump casualness in certain social and business situations.

Now, "Get off my damn lawn!"

Well, I'm Gen X and I HATE it when people call me Mrs.! My kids' friends all call me by my first name (or "..........'s mom" *L*), and I like it that way.
