Blind Items Revealed #4

July 5, 2017

This almost television show cost SO MUCH MONEY but go so little return that the numbers equate to about $100 per viewer. Yeah, that is not going to work. The company gave this B+ list dual threat director who was probably A list back in the day, a huge amount of financial leeway. Very few people watched it, but those who did were very very vocal. So the company said they would have to cancel it if a) they didn’t reign in their spending and b) if their spending wasn’t reigned in, it was up to them to wrap it up because they would have to cancel it if not. Instead of reigning in their cost, they spent extra, forcing the cancellation of their show, making it look like the company didn’t support their endeavor and ticking off their small but very vocal audience.

I don't know if anyone can answer this but are the Wachowskis blackballed ? I would think that if this show has been marketed around and nobody wanted it, Netflix probably needed to back away too.

It was a really brilliant show.

Maybe it was but the potential audience probably had to be 100% of Netflix subscribers to cover the budget. Even on pay cable it probably would be too costly.

I was lucky enough to be seated next to Lana Wachowski while Sense8 season 1 was in post-production. First of all, it's impossible not to fall into a deep friend crush on her -- one of the coolest people I have ever met, but her excitement over the show was palpable. A huge, intricate undertaking. A critic friend of mine said that it would make a lot of best AND worst lists after his initial viewing, which is true for anyone who didn't give the show a chance -- it tool me a couple of episodes to get into the flow of it. Glad that Netflix is giving the show a chance to wrap up. Everyone in Chicago who has had a chance to meet or film with the cast and crew has fallen in love with them all. It was something special and even though it had some Scooby Doo moments, it's sad that something so different and awesome wasn't embraced by more people. The acting and editing was breathtaking.

LOVE this show and sad it is ending. Glad they somehow worked out a deal for a resolution to the 2nd season cliffhanger. I'm somewhat sorry they didn't work harder at cutting cots, but I can't imagine it would have been the same. The location shooting costs must have been astronomical, but I think it would have been very obvious if they'd dropped some of the locations.

I wonder about the economics of a lot of these almost television shows especially given some of the casts.

Come on, Enty. Netflix did not support Sense8. They gave preference to several other shows (bad shows), but did not support Sense8.
