@cheesegrater - it involved him being pissed off over something Winona said, according to Enty. The more likely conspiracy is the disappearance/possible murder of Depp's partner in Viper Room, Anthony Fox.
No, not involved with River's death, but the disappearance of his partner at the Viper Room. Supposedly, the partner was zeroing in on money that Depp was syphoning off the club into other areas or to pay off some nasty debts. The partner vanished and everyone assumes he is dead. Hold on, I'll look up his name...

unless Depp (and Fox?) colluded to have River Phoenix encourgaged / pushed to take that pink drug drink knowing his system had been clean for ages (on location of his last film?), and knowing it would top him off or do serious damage / put him out of action for a while? i'd imagine Depp was a bit jealous considering River Phoenix was a REAL 'hippy', a REAL free spirit, a REAL artiste. most movie studios, I'd imagine, found phoenix more marketable. so if that dealer is still about and if fox knew about stuff and either of them might spill the beans??

Of course Depp probably only had someone watching him because he's a flight risk cos he's a druggie with his head up his arse, and was yelling 'murder' cos he wasn't allowed out to play til he did his promotion rounds.
