Four For Friday - Kindness

It's Friday again, which of course means announcements. Tomorrow will be a Saturday reveal as I dig something out from the archives. I would love for you to follow me on Twitter and you can find the bird thing over there-------->. Be safe this weekend. I fear that this whole Colorado shooting is going to spawn some ridiculous copycat. I want to see you all back here safe.

I wanted to tell you today about an Emmy nominated actress. She has been in the business for what seems like forever, but she is still young. She has done movies and television and is a great actress. Solid B+/A- list. Everyone knows her. Through one of her recent co-stars, she got involved with a group of people who help injured soldiers and their families. She met a group of injured soldiers who had lost limbs and heard they didn't have enough money to always get the bast prosthetic limbs. There was also the matter of transporting families to where the soldiers were hospitalized. Our actress not only has donated $2M to this cause, but also leased 10 apartments that are within walking distance of one of the hospitals where returning soldiers are sent. All of the apartments are fully furnished and each family is allowed to stay up to two months in the apartments free of charge so they can be close to their loved ones. As a new unit becomes vacant in the complex, she rents out another and has encouraged all her co-stars to help out. So far, they have done a tremendous amount and none of them have asked for or sought any publicity for their actions. She might not always look happy, but this actress, has definitely made me smile and now I know, I will never utter a bad word or slight about her again.

I hope this is revealed.

Hey Enty, considering all the horrible news over the last couple of days, how about posting a kitten or puppy video before the random photos?

Amber said...

Vicki - I should upload the video of my dog to youtube & post it for you. I brought him to work this week and recorded a video of how I was keeping him "busy".

I like the JLH guess. Is she Emmy nominated?

msgirl said...

Claire Danes is a great guess because Enty has previously posted she looks unhappy in photos.

I appreciate such a kindness on a day like today, to wipe away some of blackness.

Cake said...

Just noticed it says "Emmy Nominated"

If it is just Emmy Nominated_

Julie Bowen

Please?

Has Ginnifer Goodwin ever been nominated? She never smiles, but I love her.

*karen* said...

The blind says "still young" and never says that she actually won an Emmy.

I like the Claire Danes guess, but I'm really not sure who it is.

msgirl said...

Emmy nominate could also be a winner, Enty is trying to widen the circle by not giving it too much away.

Patty said...

Wait, and she's not tweeting about this. Imagine that!

For me, Claire Daines just gets better and better. Did not like her after the Mary Louise Parker hubby stealing thing, but have slowly liked her more and more and love her in Homeland. This blind seals the deal for me. Claire is nominated this season, I believe.

Nice blind Enty.

For those who want cute kitty videos, check out my son on youtube. "Baby bites cat". He's the cute little dark haired baby in the diaper chasing the cat around the kitchen. I love my son!

I'm thinking this is someone who is Emmy nominated this year seeing as the noms just came out. I like Claire Danes for this...

No guess, but hope for a reveal. I am very happy for a kindness blind, particularly for our wounded warriors and soldiers. There are far too many that need our support.

I spent 2 weeks in one of these recovery areas to help my baby brother recover from what should have been lethal injuries. The govt paid for my flights and housing for 1 week.

For most of the other wounded soldiers (burns and amputees), their recovery takes 3-4 years. Recovery and family are tied. There are some resources (like Fisher House Foundation) for families to stay with their loved ones as they recover far from home, but there are just not enough.

Stepping off my soapbox in a sec... The Wounded Warrior Project and the FINE folks of San Antonio do amazing things for our injured soldiers and their families. I have never seen so much goodness in people.

Sis said...

Rosie O'Donnell has done these kinds of things before with and for our wounded soldiers.

I think this blind is for someone younger.

Green Wave Gal said...

OMG Amber...adorable! :)

cute, @Amber!

Vicki Cupper said...

Luckylass, I love the Wounded Warrior Project and Vacations for Vets.

hope this is kyra sedgwick...

I also like the Claire Danes guess. She has been around forever and is still young.

It says that her co-stars got her involved. Mandy Patinkin is involved with post 9/11 charities. The show Homeland is war related so I can see them doing research and meeting with soldiers. And Damien Lewis probably worked with veterans (old ones) during Band of Brothers. So...yeah I'm guessing Claire.

EmEyeKay said...

@Anishinaabeg Ikwe - that poor, poor kitty certainly deserves the extra tuna. And your son is adorable.

Vicki Cupper said...

Amber that video made me die!!!

Not sure how I feel about the cat video. o_O

Amber said...

Haha thanks, guys! I am one of those weirdos who talks to and laughs at their pet :P

Agent**It said...

@ luckylass , The Wounded Warrior Project is a wonderful organization. Please let us know if you have established any kind of assistance fund for your little brother. You're a great sister !

Deep said...

Could Courtney Cox work?

Vicki Cupper said...

Amber, that's completely normal. I would have conversations with my cat.

Hendrix said...

I seem to remember this blind from before?

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

January Jones is an interesting guess. She's 1) been Emmy nominated, 2) never smiles, 3) still young, and 4) would be someone ENTy hasn't said nice things about in the past, thus eliciting his promise not to snark on this actress going forward.

Amber said...

Hendrix, it's similar to the Alison Brie one, but it's slightly different.

Little Miss Smoke and Mirrors said...

@Deep Courteney Cox has the distinction of being the only Friend who was never nominated for an Emmy.

EmEyeKay said...

Due to the high volume of cute cat requests, I have changed my profile picture :) Doing my part to make today less sucky.

Shane Joseph said...

Claire Danes and Kyra Sedgewick have both won emmy's. so it excludes them.

Rebecca said...

Love her!! Hope this guess is right!

whocaresnow12 said...

Claire Danes. She became very involved with veteran medical charities in the last 2-3 years. she's also very involved in women's charities.

Rebecca said...

Love her!! Hope this guess is right!

Stop Soldier Suicide is also a fabulous charity I want to plug here. Their purpose is obvious from the name.

Many many more soldiers are surviving these days but PTSD is an awful thing and many of these young men struggle.

@Hunter, that's a new one to me, thanks. We do fundraisers every now and then and we donate to a veteran's charity.Stop Soldier Suicide, thanks.

@EmEyeKay, thanks for the change, much easier on the eyes than the last one:)

Grey said...

I'm thinking Ellen Pompeo for this.

Nominated ages ago when Grey's first came out. Has been in tvs and movies. Her character and herself always look pouty

luckylass said...

@Vicki, Agent**It - Thank you. My bro is doing great - no assistance needed. My family and I are so very grateful for that. It is all the others that I worry about. So many, so very young, from far-from-affluent families too. It was the most eye opening experience of my life.

Hunter is very right. My bro (he's still in) is constantly telling me these stories.

Amber, Monty is adorable. Is he a mini pin?

I was thinking Sela Ward, since she works with Gary Sinise now. But Claire Danes is a great guess!

Thats okay, if my pets in my way, I say,"Excuse me."! Lolololol

Brooke said...

For some reason I thought of Julia Louis Dreyfus. Not sure that's right, but that's what was in my head while I read this blind.

Steppy said...

I have no idea who this is - but God bless her. We need more people in the world like this.

MochiNYC said...

I thought I'd delurk to give a shout out to another really great group - Paws and Stripes. www.pawsandstripes.org.

They rescue dogs from shelters and train them to work as service dogs for wounded vets.

Two great causes in one!

And bringing it back on topic -- I have no idea who the answer to this blind is, but she's doing a wonderful thing!

Vicki Cupper said...

LMAO @Auntliddy, I do that with any animal, even the pigeons.

I'm wondering Tina Fey?

definitely claire danes.

Sexthan (hehe), he's actually a Prague Ratter. It's a breed from the Czech Republic. He has min pin coloring, but his head is kind of like a chihuahua with a longer snout. He is 6 lbs of monster!

Autumn said...

On board for Claire Danes.

My immediate first thought was Courtney Cox...Not sure she'd be considered "young" enough plus she'd never been nominated for "Friends" but I was thinking maybe she was for "Cougar Town"...

__-__=__ said...

No idea but thanks for the kindness blind. Very inspirational.

diatribes and dish said...

She was my thought, too.

Texshan said...

Ah! Thanks for telling me, Amber. I was only able to catch glimpses of him and thought he was a mini pin because of the coloring and his ears. He's super cute! What is it about little dogs? They are so confrontational! My two pomeranians think they are Billy badasses, when they really, really aren't. My white one, who looks like a dandelion fluff, is convinced he is a killer and runs around growling all of the time. My red one picked a fight with a boxer at the vet's office last week. Yet they are both terrified of my (declawed and elderly) cats. So dumb.

I was so glad Monty finally got his toy. I was starting to feel bad for him!

Hmm. I suppose it's Claire Danes?

Speaking of great charities for our servicepeople, you MUST go here:

Caution: you may not get any work done for the rest of the day, though.

msgirl said...

Many of the guesses here (Julia Dreyfuss, Kyra, Ellen O) are older, it says this is still a young actress. It's hard to believe that Claire Danes is still young because she has been around forever, I'm solidly in that camp, makes me love her more.

Baba said...

Kristen Stewart sillies.

ash said...

kristen stewart has never been nominated for an emmy and i don't think enty thinks of her as a "great actress."

i like the anna paquin or claire danes guesses. theyre both very good actresses. anna's been nominated for an emmy. claire has actually won - not sure if that rules her out or if that's just enty being tricky because she's also been nominated and not won (for my so-called life) / not won yet (this year for homeland).

lostathome said...

Lol was that cat in The Village?

Reese said...

Whoever she is, please reveal. This is wonderful.

kim called said...

I love whoever this is, and like the danes guess. also fyi: theres an awesome post by himmmmmm on the colorado dark night article posting. kinda made me think and made me misty eyed at the same time. i really hope this blind is revealed and we have more good oens liek this.

Tru Leigh said...

What about Jennifer Anniston?

LindolBee said...

How about Rose Byrne, she never smiles, is Emmy nominated and does both movies and tv.

Bob Smith said...

To donate $2mill, you'd need to be absolutely loaded....I can't imagine many actresses would seriously be able to do that. You'd need FriendsMoney I'm thinking. Courtney Cox doesn't smile much in pap shots. I"m sure she was nominated for an Emmay for Courgar Town...and she's still young comparatively. Most importantly she comes across as a really caring sensitive person in interviews.

CC FTW!

Mango said...

$2 million is a LOT. It has to be an actress earning a lot of bank. I don't think Ginnifer Goodwin is in that category, nor Rose Byrne. Yet.

Robin the Mad Photographer said...

...but I thought everyone talks to their pets? God knows I do--I have whole conversations w/Jezebel, and sometimes she even talks back. ;-) Seriously, I do think animals understand a lot more than we give them credit for, so why wouldn't I treat my cat like a sentient, intelligent being? (Besides, my mom tells me that Tibetan Buddhists believe that cats can read minds--anyone happen to know if that's true?)

As for the blind, I'll go w/Claire Danes, and hope her pregnancy is going well.

Cosette said...

jennifer aniston

Frufra said...

@Robin - I also think everyone talks to their pets - I mean, why have them if you don't have a relationship with them?

Bear in mind, though, that I also talk to birds when I'm walking, sometimes squirrels, too. I also talk to myself when I find interesting new products at the store :-). I basically have no shame and love to hear myself speak!

This has my former gradeschool classmate Cynthia Nixon's fingerprints all over it. If not her, one of her costars, I would bet.

Blame it on the 1970s, and our liberal teachers.

Claire Danes - I thought of her right away but the 'might not always look happy' comment clinched it.

The guess is clare danes....the saddest part of this story is that if money and thought had been put into stopping the illegal invasions then soldiers wouldn't be hurt now and the thousands upons thousands who have lost their lives in their own country would be alive today as well. It's simply crazy.
