What B-list singer and celebrity spawn dubbed the singing voice of that A-list actress and Oscar winner/nominee in that movie where she sings those '80s cover songs? She went uncredited for this job (but got a nice paycheck), and was pissed off when the actress did the talk show circuit saying she had so much fun singing.

I hear ya@ PlanetJ, but considering she has taken on Scientology to a degree, I doubt Madame Kale smoothie Goop intimidated her. If true, I pretty sure she would've spoken up on some level ??

@Derek, yeah,it's confusing.--Lisa Marie Presley(the B-list singer who is also a celebrity spawn) was the actual singing voice in the movie "Duets" which starred Gwyneth Paltrow playing a singer(the A-list actress who's also an Oscar winner).Gwyneth's voice wasn't good enough so they dubbed her voice with Lisa-Marie's voice. Lisa-Marie got paid really well but was not credited & it was supposed to be a secret so everyone would think that it was really Gwyneth singing the songs & that Gwyneth actually had that great smoky voice.-Even though it was a confidential deal,i guess Lisa Marie just thought it was bullshit that Gwyneth would go around adding to the lie about how much fun she had singing all those songs,when,in fact, she did not even do them--basically saying that Gwyneth was so full of it on all the talk shows! --Did I just confuse you even more??
Interesting. This is the movie that her dad directed so he had to have been involved in the deception. The only thing I have trouble with is that there were so many people involved in that shoot. Huey Lewis for instance. He'd know a fake singer ASAP. Was it in his contract to be quiet or did he get some hush money too?
I know Hollywood is a whole lot of smoke and mirrors- I guess I'm just wondering about the logistics of it all and keeping things quiet.
Ya, this one isn't true. Give Lisa Marie's singing a listen, and it's not even remotely close to the sound of the voice in Duets. If it was dubbed in Duets, they got someone who sounds like Gwynnie. I'm no GOOPer, but that's her singing in Duets.

It could be that Gwyn wanted to sing, like Audrey Hepburn and Jeremy Brett in My Fair Lady but the ultimate decision makers wouldn't let them. They did renditions but they ended up dubbed, both unhappy about it.
It's supposed to be a secret at least until the movie is somewhat old or it would ruin the atmosphere knowing someone else was singing, or dancing, or jumping into a lake etc.
If it wasn't Gwyn or Lisa Marie, my money's on Marnie Nixon.

hey @H20-- i didn't know who jeremy brett was & i love "My Fair Lady"so i read his wikipedia profile & his 1st major movie role was War & Peace with lo & behold,Audrey Hepburn..who knew Freddy had a crush on her for that long... ; )
