This could literally be anybody. I used to listen to a podcast if a guy who used to interview celebs about their movies. He said most of them are nice and professional, but those sitdowns last for hours. The celeb sits there and is asked the same questions over and over by a parade of reporters. The actor was probably exhausted and hangry. Not saying he wasn't a dick, but his handlers should have done a better job in handling him.

@tricia13: totally untrue. If you talk about this Esquire interview in 2010,the writer recognised himself that he changed the tone of the interview because Bale only talked about the movie.

Weintraub is known and not pathetic.
My guess is this is Bale and he has it out for Weintraub for unknown reasons. OTOH, Bale has been known for irrational outbursts at people who haven't rubbed him wrong. Yes, press junkets suck for actors. I couldn't do it. I'd start getting sarcastic and mean about an hour in.

I couldn't do your job either. After college, I worked with some Alzheimer's patients for minimum wage (I really needed the cash.) It's some of the most frustrating work in the world, especially the endless repetitions.
Even if someone is making beaucoup bucks, endlessly repeating things is not fun.

You never know what's going on with these things. I don't think it should be off-limits to ask RDJ about his past, but I don't know what the parameters were for this superhero sit-down interview.
My personal feeling is that an actor should say things like "I'm here to talk about the movie and nothing else. If you delve into this area again, I'm leaving." Which is sort of the vibe, but not the verbalization, that Downey was giving off.

I have no opinion on this matter, currently. Just sharing information so others can think for themselves.
THe actor is one of the Avengers 3 promoters. So, it's no Bale, nor Reynolds. Also, it's not Renner or Evans because they are not among the A3 promoting actors too.
My word is on Cumby or Stan. Both brainless sometimes.
This Steven guy later tweeted that people need to stop asking who the actor in question is because he isn't going to answer. Why whine about it then? Who knows what kinds of questions were being asked. I say, post the video of the ridiculousness or move on.

Joel McHale? I heard on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast how some guy called him the worst person he'd ever interviewed, because he was so arrogant and obnoxious.
If the actor saw him and immediately went off, clearly there's a reason... some history there or something. The interviewer is trying be play it like he's clueless and was taken by surprise but I'm not buying that for a second.
All contemporary "journalists" deserve to be treated as dirt for their assholness and ignorance. I support whoever he is.

It's Anthony Mackie.
He and Frosty have a history and Mackie didn't appreciate the way an interview made him look. It was while Mackie was doing press for "Our Brand is Crisis" and Frosty brought up Man Of Steel. Mackie didn't like the movie and Frosty was like, "I play it on a loop because I love it so much." Mackie and he went back and forth playfully, but during the Civil War press tour, Mackie was asked about the incident by a friend of Frosty's and Mackie pointed out that he thought the interview was edited to make him look bad and he didn't appreciate it.
So, I am sure Mackie saw Frosty and started giving him shit. And, yes, Stan and Winston Duke were in the room along with publicists. No one stopped the interview and it's my personal take, that they must have thought Mackie within his rights to say something. I think this was a long time coming and Frosty blew this way out of proportion.
Yes, Disney/Marvel took the interview footage away. This has just all gotten out of hand. Jessica Chastain and James Gunn even tweeted to Frosty about it. We have confirmation on Twitter from other people who were there that it was Mackie.
I find it hard to believe that Frosty didn't know what he was walking into and I would say maybe he would learn something from this situation, but he was already getting his clickbait on last night. I'm not mad at Mackie or Frosty, it just sounded like something that had been building up for a couple of years.

Also, Krishnan got EXACTLY what he deserved from RDJ. He was rude and belligerent and started off the interview that way. RDJ had every right to leave that interview. And Krishnan gets off on interviewing that way. Go look up his interview with Richard Ayoade. It's terrible. Yeah, RDJ has a big ego, but I'm told he is very gracious and he does a ton of charity work.

I usually feel we're on the same side, but this is a little extreme. There are still good journalists out there. Not a lot, but they exist.
Anthony Mackie is appealing, though I was disappointed to see him in "The Night Before." He would've been a million times better as "Shaft" than the new FBI-friendly Usher (mis)casting choice.

I don't know. It's unprofessional. People have to work all the time with people they don't like -- coworker, clients, contactors, whatever. The only person who looks bad is the one with the anger management issue who can't keep it under control despite literally being paid to speak to tge press.
It's not right that journalists continue to ask RDJ about his dark past. He has graciously shared much of his journey through recovery and has been open about his struggles with addiction. How much more is there to ask? And why bring it in an interview for a movie? It seems underhanded to me.
Keep in mind that RDJ has paid his dues with addiction. But every time a journalist brings up his dark past, he/she immediately sends RDJ back to that place. He doesn't deserve that. RDJ isn't a man who should be defined by his addiction. Let's move on.

Or actors could do smile and do their promotional jobs even if they are tired of answering the same questions? Just because a reporter is "no-name" doesn't mean that they can be treated like dirt. Obviously some journalists/reporters do take it too far, but usually the diva behavior is on the part of the celeb.
No - Ms. Norman, you would be woefully incorrect in your guess to this blind. Referencing a 3 year-old story which has ZEEERRO to do with this blind is the wrong way to do this. Sorry. But yes, you named an actor. So that was close :-) I'd have accepted Mister Green Jeans or Captain Kangaroo. They were actors also.
As for other comments ascribed relative to that older non-story (which was attempted to be spun into a story by a thirsty mouth-breather interviewer to up his own fame/ratings in a hurtfully deceitful backstab), try this on:
You're about to be interviewed in a medium that will go to millions, many of whom are young impressionables. For months in advance, the interviewer has agreed to stick to the questions or closely therein. He provided HIS QUESTIONS (not yours but HIS) so you could get your answers ready to oblige him. Ninth one you've done that day already. You get there and he starts wanting to ask you about drugs, and jail, and many things you've discussed ad infinitum plenty before. No shame, just old news. You gently ask him not to.
He insists.
You try to joke to roll it off.
He pushes to the point of rude.
He ignores the off chance that EVEN ONE SINGLE KID could think "their onscreen hero" is now bragging about not being ashamed of his past. Now talking openly about drug use and jail. TO a kid who doesn't know the distinction between "owning it" vs. "bragging". So that one kid goes to emulate "his hero". He does drugs. He gets arrested.
Life NOW RUINED.
Now...imagine that is YOUR child that did that. Or someone you know personally. Are you going to blame the interviewer whom you've never heard of? No. You'll blame the actor. And it'll destroy lives, and splash everywhere that: HEADLINE - "Hero actor blamed for kid's drug addiction/overdose/arrest".
Rinse and repeat. Who in the hell even wants to hear those old stories that have been played out many times? Not kids, and not good parents. So sometimes? It's better to just walk away. And funny enough, over 10 years and over a squillion interviews THIS is still what someone wants to bring up? Really? Because - color me cocky with an ego Sharpie - but if that's the WORST any actor ever dishes out to an interviewer? Well, then. We'll call it a good career. No seriously, there is a huge responsibility that goes with fame that we regular folk never have to consider. As a mother of 4, it was tough enough: do I tell them the truth of my sordid youth or do I pretend I never did anything bad so I don't normalize drug use? I opted for honesty and shared many cautionary tales in hope they'd learn from my mistakes. Ha! Ha!!! Ha!!!!! (It didn't work.)
I still don't know what's the best approach with one's own kids, and I sure as hell am glad I don't have to worry, every day, about the effect of my words on other people's children, young fans.
Too many reporters like to ask questions that they know they shouldn't ask. It was probably more deserved than he's admitting.

@just sayin are: that huge responsibility with fame, you’re not wrong. I think we all got a thought provoking response from Himmmm this time in the difference between our relatively anonymous thought processes vs thought processes in the public eye, especially when playing a role kids are likely to be fans of.
As for one’s own kids, the advantage there is that you can follow up. But here we are on CDAN referencing an interview from 3 years ago. And another from 8 years ago, both without the full dialogue available.
There’s a lot more miscommunication in extended silence than we remember.
+1 Han Niam. Better to be rude or risk looking like a jerk, get up and walk out, than say something you regret later. R has not only millions of fans of all ages to consider but kids of his own, one old enough to be dealing with his own issues now, and 2 young ones. I don't think anyone has the right to sit in judgment of him. He looks like a pretty damned good person from where I sit.
As a teacher you are at least dealing with actual human beings with varying degrees of genuine personalities.
When it's the fakest phonies feigning emotions in the entertainment and mediawhore industries, it's the worst type of annoying in even the smallest dosage. Violence or any anger expressed towards them should be chalked up to temporary insanity(or the most sober, sound and just judgment of an actual human person)
If this indeed was Anthony Mackie, then 100% there is a back story with the interviewer and he had his reasons. Mackie is a class act. Always very respectful. Could it not have been the best timing - yes that's possible. But he was obviously set off for a reason. And without being there or seeing the video, none of us should judge and instead take into account that he always handles promoting his projects professionally. Obviously more to the story than the journalist / interviewer is leading people to believe.
My daughter's boyfriend is a journalist and has been interviewing celebrities since he was in college. He has not had a bad experience with any of them. I keep waiting for some dirt to come out but so far everyone has been extremely pleasant with him.
Also because they have a tendency towards suicide by multiple gunshot wounds

It is refreshing to read genuine, like, actions, man. It's cool because the kids do look up to those movie stars, man. My kid who shall remain gender-less (only because the internet is weird not like a lifestyle thing) is obsessed with their character of choice. As a parent, it is comforting to read that people involved in the film franchises, actually DO care about the children of the world their selling the movie to. Although I've never been to jail, I did a small mountain of coke during the 70's and 80's. It would have been a much larger mountain if I had my way then. Need a little bump during the day to get through it, sure why not? Need a bump to get ready for partying that night, sure it was there. I carried vial with the little spoon attached to the top everywhere I went. I normalized it to myself.
RDJ paid his debt. He did his time and made a fantastic come back. Some where betting against him, while he gained legionaof fans for facing his demons.

"It's who everyone thinks it was" is basically confirmation it's Anthony Mackie, as he's the top contender on Twitter. He must still be hung up on that Man of Steel interview if he went right into it as soon as he saw the interviewer.

I felt really sorry for RDJ in that interview. I could see his breathing getting faster as this nugget pushed a light hearted interview for a superhero film into something TOTALLY darker and disturbing.
I think RDJ came out of it pretty well and handled it much better than I would have done.
I think it won him even more fans.
