Lauren Conrad Reality Show May Still Have Life

Lauren Conrad and high brow are not two terms which I think would be synonymous. Apparently though that Hills and US Weekly kiss ass combination is still alive and well though because the magazine says the reason MTV did not pick up Lauren's new reality show is that it is too high brow. Uh huh. In an interview with US, Lauren says that several other networks have expressed interest in the project. Probably networks we have never heard of or some Ukrainian network just signed on and is really looking for some high brow American programing to fill out its midnight to five am schedule.

"The amount of offers I've gotten has been very flattering." The show follows Lauren as she works on her fashion line. Really? More fashion? Now, I am old now and get confused but didn't either Lauren or some other Hills alum already try the fashion thing and it crashed and burned?

I thought she was finished with reality tv... hm?? Guess she's running low on funds or something. Anyway, her new show was probably too BORING for mtv. That's what this girl is--boring.

It probably was to high brow for MTV.....I repeat, FOR MTV. Remember, this is the channel with "Jersey Shore" and "Teen Moms".

Try VH1, Dear.

@Lauren

My thoughts are that she feels she can "transition" to be a real actress or whatever - if she only does reality TV that isn't shock material or about hookups or whatever.

But the industry is brutal, shock is what sells in reality, and there is always a fresher face willing to show their worst.

In previous interviews, she has said she never wanted to be an actress. But...she also said she was done w/ reality TV so....

I'm sure she just misses the money.

I actually LOVE her clothing line. It's cute, wearable and affordable clothing.

Haha, this is pretty funny because I am wearing one of her dresses right now and I love it! I get compliments every time I wear it. I have a few of her other dresses too.

I've never watched an episode of Laguna Beach or The Hills. Her dresses are available online on Kohls.com (in stores as well) and they are actually very nice, well made and affordable.

Just in case anyone cares to see some her stuff, I found a blog with some photos, including a photo of the dress I am wearing now (11 pictures down, right above the comments section, it the "Ruffle Chiffon Dress"):

It is a lovely shade of tomato red and comes with the cute dark brown belt you see in the photo. It is no longer available on the Kohls website though.

She seems to have turned out pretty ok being a product of MTV. Her clothing line is pretty successful. And lets be honest she is a breath of fresh air over that Snooki chippy.

@Miss Jenny...that really is one cute dress!

She has also written several ooks, at least one of which was a bestseller. (Have not read them but there is a display at Target).I saw this article in Us. I am sure the Style network will pick up the show.

Yawn. This girl is so dull and boring. I wish she'd go away but she's still trying to make herself happen.
Oh, and her "novels" make Twilight look like Shakespeare.

By "high brow," she meant that she wanted them to show her actually working. She should have known better. The only way you get a reality show these days is if you're an utterly useless waste of space. And it's not like she didn't have the qualifications to get that part right.

Judging by that photo Enty posted, she must be one of the few celebs not to undergo breast augmentation. Gotta give her props for that at least.

A friend of mine went to her birthday party last year and said it was huge with an open bar. He walked out at 4am with two bottles of top shelf vodka.

I heard this about a week ago on a local radio station...it sounded like she expected the show to be all about her fashion line a la the Rachel Zoe show and they wanted something like the City or whatever with Whitney Port. SHE said that the MTV people thought was too high brow for the MTV viewers, which I took as her being pissed off that it was passed on.

I think she has been vocal about wanting a real reality show, and for it to be about her professional life not personal. That really doesn't sell anymore but I am surprised MTV passed on it. I thought they were the ones who produced it. I didn't realize you do pilots for reality shows to see if they are picked up.

I'm kind of meh on the idea. But her clothing line looks quite nice.

My, MissJenny, you do dress up when you comment, don't you!
