Santa Beckham

How many kids do you know by the name of Santa? Yeah, me either. I have known a Christmas or two in my life, but never Santa. I also know that there are probably not too many Santas out there in the world who are girls. Oh, sure I guess you could name your child Santa, but aren't you pretty much only giving them one opportunity in their life for a meaningful job? If they are a girl, does this mean you are going to give them hormones to grow a beard?

In the world of celebrity baby names, the fact that Victoria Beckham is considering the name Santa for her new baby with David Beckham would probably eclipse almost any other baby name. If attention is what she is seeking, Victoria has found a winner.

Of course I think this is a joke, but we are talking about a celebrity baby name here. So, anything is possible.

I like Lainey's guess of Lala. Because they name their kids after what city they have been in when conceived.

Tara Palmer-Tompkinson's sister. But that's the only one.

Isn't it Santa as in Saint, not Santa Claus?

Even Santa couldn't beat Kal-El.

Exactly @ Keks. Santa is a Female Hispanic.

I was born on Christmas Day and I'm not named Santa. Yikes.

Is the middle name Maria?

If they do the town conception thing, I wonder if they've ever done it in Compton? Normal Heights?

Both my mother and grandmother were named Santa. Sicilians.

I'm guessing she was conceived in Santa Monica or Barbara?

I still think Jason Lee's kid's name of Pilot-Inspektor takes the cake.

My Sicilian grandpa had a sister named Santa. It has a different pronunciation than the Santa in Santa Claus, so it ain't no big thing.

I've known numerous women called Santa. It's not that weird of a name.

As someone noted above, Tara Palmer-Tompkinson's sister is named Santa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Montefiore

RQ beat me to that one. How about Moxie Crimefighter Jillette or Audio Science Sossamon?

enty, i love you. but just b/c you've never heard a name doesn't mean it doesn't exist. 'santa' is actually common in many parts of latin america and western europe.

besides, they already have a 'cruz'...maybe they're into sticking w/ the theme?

I thought of the same thing Keks did; maybe she is going for "Saint". Of course, that would be rather hilarious in that family. Anything to outdo Gwenyth Paltrow on the weird baby names, eh Victoria?

Karrots, read my other comments in today's other posts--I am backing you up 100%. My frustration makes yours look like mild irritation. I am determined to keep this issue in the threads.

No matter how normal or not normal her name is, she is not going to have a very normal childhood...

Where did radio show go to? The one that ENTY took all that money for?

Bxrlvr said...

My mom is named Santa. It's an old Greek name, anglicized from "Santee".

And by the way, she usually goes by Sandy.

Hey, who got their Amber Tamblyn book? What happened to the radio show! I think people donated money for that!

i don't think it's an attention-seeking name. it's different, and not exactly what i'd expect from them but compared to others, it's not dreadful. santa maria (if that was the middle name) beckham sounds actually kind of pretty!

it may very well be a joke, though. who knows?
