Because The World Needs Another Singing Competition
ABC was feeling left out of the singing competition shows so they have a new one called Duets. Kind of like the movie but without the Huey Lewis/Gwyneth Paltrow love fest. And that is a good thing. The show has Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Nettles and Lionel Richie who go out across the country and find someone to sing a duet with in front of an audience. That is the reward. To sing a duet. Notice they did not pick singers who cannot sing. Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were not offered these gigs.

Interesting that they have Kelly Clarkson, Robin Thicke and Lionel Richie as they're talent. All three have already been on The Voice this season.

Seachica, "I Call It Love" was a hit on smooth jazz radio and he sang it on Dancing With The Stars.
I know he's cheesey, but I love Lionel. "Endless Love" was a wedding song.

Nicole Scherzinger's voice is actually *almost* as good as Whitney's. She did and impromtu verse or two of "I Will Always Love You" on X factor to give someone an example of how it SHOULD be sung.. she was amazing and I was blown away that she had that kind of talent. Never would have known.. thought she was more of a performer than a singer.
Do we get to do the duet with the bust of Lionel too?
I liked Huey and Gwyneth singing in Duets.
A member of our family is Lionel's hairdresser, she has traveled the world and made a very nice living for a very long time.
Wow, more places to travel and more people to have sex with for Robin.
I love Lionel. I can't sing, but I would like to dance with him like in the "All Night Long" video.

I used to love american idol and would watch it w/my friend and her kids.
now I find all of those shows horribly boring. alot of people can carry a tune, very few can have a real career out of singing.
those shows are like americas next top model. the winner disappears after a bit and then another one is chosen, so the old one is a has been. rinse and repeat.

IDK if I would say almost as good as Whitney's, but she can sing. I think her image throws people off. She does look like more of a performer than a singer.
