Ryan Seacrest Signs Up For More Easy Money
After using Ryan Seacrest as Today Show bait for Matt Lauer, Ryan ended up getting paid by American Idol. For doing nothing a few hours a week, Ryan Seacrest will continue to host American Idol each week for approximately $15M a season for the next two seasons. He does bring continuity to the show and if Idol wanted to throw that much money at him, I certainly don't begrudge the guy for taking it. It just seems like an astonishing amount of money until you think that he has been on the show since the beginning and that Britney Spears is set to get even more than that as a judge on X factor where her contributions will consist of things like saying, "Good job," and "Can I get some more of that Pepsi stuff. I like the way it bubbles in my mouth."

Out of all these judges and hosts that are overpaid, Ryan (and Tom Bergeron) deserve it! Ryan works so hard and he's great at what he does.

Andriana - well can you imagine if he came out? His career would be in shambles. I can buy that he's depressed, it must be horrible to have to lie to the world, and the bigger the star you are, the more of a lie you live. Aw shucks, now I'm feeling sorry for him. Poor guy. And it's just getting worse, not better.
If the blind about some remaining in the closet because of his mother is about Ryan, I wonder if when she passes he will come out. That would take a tremendous amount of courage for someone who is host of America.

sorry I deleted b/c I was afraid my friend would see my post (she reads the site) and get mad not that I'm revealing anything but I guess since people already responded... a friend of a friend works for E! and says that ryan is very closeted and very depressed. :( I actually feel bad for the guy.

I think this is probably a case of someone who is so good at what they do, that they make it look easy / like "doing nothing."
In reality I could easily see someone less good making a real mess of it, either in terms of not having the live show run on schedule or in not helping the audience bond with the contestants and/or the show.

Not a fan, but he is supreme at what he does. And if he is closeted, im inviting him to jump out bc its no ones damn business who he sleeps with. I dont see why a same sex oriented person has to ' come out' anyway. No one shld care. Look at Manilow, spacey and orhers, they dont say and its fine. No one shld care unless they want to date the person involved!
auntliddy -I certainly don't care, and you don't either, but the problem is MANY people care. And Ryan's popularity rests with middle America.
He does 4 hrs of very intense live TV every week and keeps things on track for the most part.
I think he deserves as much or more than any of the judges--he is a big part of the show in my opinion. I think he is one of the best live hosts around right now.
It is a sad thing if it's true that he is gay and feels he can't be true to himself--if he is the blind we had recently and it is to not upset his family, I understand, but I wish he was able to be honest--in the end that is what makes you happy. I bet his family would be ok and he'd be happier. He seems very close with them and they seem to support him in everything he does. Sad this is between them.
More power to him. He is a hard worker.
If he really was the new Dick Clark, the least he could do is host a show where young people dance like dorks to pop songs. And the American Idol group medley numbers don't count.

I disagree with others that say his career would be in shambles if he came out. He makes a lot of money for a lot of corporations. He won't lose any work. And young people wouldn't really care for the most part.
He's ecstatic because Dick Clark is finally dead and Seacrest doesn't have to put up with the old fool on New Year's Eve anymore.
i never really liked Ryan. I dont understand what he does. I do think he should come out the closet. I would respect him way more.
