Steve Martin - Wild & Crazy Guy

Steve Martin way back in 1978. Hilarious.

I saw him perform twice , in RI and MA. He was funny doing stand up in his prime.

But, he is no George Carlin, RIP.

I juts got his book from the library, Born Standing Up.

Haven't started it yet (I'm reading Vonnegut"s bio) but will let you know how it is when I do.

I have been in love with Steve since I was 12. I used to have that cardboard life size cut out of him that is in this video I got at a antique store, and kiss it goodnight when I was 12! Now I still have a thing for Silver Fox's and would love to meet him someday.

Steve has always been one of my favorites. If you want to see a very different Steve, watch his movie 'Pennies From Heaven'.

And now I love him and his banjo.

OMAMA - I predict you will love that book. Sometimes I'm scared to read books by people I adore, because I don't want to know if they don't live up to my image of them. I came away from Born Standing Up loving Steve Martin even more than before.

Can't wait to see if you agree with me!

The Jerk is one of the best comedies ever.

@Del Riser: The first time I saw "Pennies from Heaven," I HATED it. It came on TV one night, I started watching it, and thought it was one of the best movies I'd ever seen. I enjoy it like a cult film, and I usually don't enjoy musicals. Bernadette Peters, Christopher Walken (in and out of character) and Jessica Harper are great in it, too.

I love Steve Martin. Bowfinger is one of my go-to movies that I've seen dozens of times. Absolutely hysterical send-up of Scientology, way before most people were even aware of their nuttiness.

And also a good reminder that Eddie Murphy really does have a great talent, no matter how he may choose to squander it.

@Robert, I understand, the first time I saw it I think I was in shock.

I've since watched it several times and agree it is in a special little warped category that I like.

So Steve's record of doing no wrong is unblemished in my eyes, he is just brilliant!

This video is hilarious! Especially the lip synching part.

I agree with Mooshki - hard to say Eddie Murphy is not talented once you've seen that. It's a great movie.

And every time the phone books arrive I have to get all excited and say, "THE NEW PHONE BOOKS ARE HERE! THE NEW PHONE BOOKS ARE HERE!"
