Ace Of Base Member Denies Nazi Past

Yesterday, Ace Of Base member Ulf Ekberg was accused of belonging to a Swedish musical group that promoted the Nazi way of life. The group, Commit Suicide, is known for being very anti-immigrant and that the party he supported with the band has long been known as a very right wing party. Way right wing. Yesterday Ulf said that he was a member of the band but does not recall any of the lyrics that were released and insisted that the lyrics were not his and he is not on the demo and that Ace Of Base will always be a very centric group and that the rest of the members have no leanings in either direction and are very bland as to not offend anyone. Well, that is not exactly how he put it, but that is what he meant. He did say way back in 1997 that he did things he regretted. Hopefully Commit Suicide is one of those things.

I remember hearing that he was a Nazi supporter about fifteen years ago... I guess that would make it around 1997.

Any one who still pays attention to what Ace of Base is up to is certainly too damaged to care if they are Nazis or not.

Speaking as someone who is generally very pro-diversity and pro-immigration - and someone who lives close to Sweden - I can say that Sweden has done an absolutely awful job of managing the flow of immigration over the past 20 years or so. And it's been a huge flow, equal to about 25% of the Swedish population.

A few immigrants have thrived and become a positive, multi-cultural face for Sweden, which is great, but there are a lot of people who are living in what amounts to immigrant ghettos, lifelong unemployed who hate Sweden and everything it stands for. Sweden also had an attempted "Boston Bombing" last Christmas, when a Muslim immigrant attempted a suicide bombing on a busy street full of shoppers.

Stupid, lazy policies without a structured plan for immigrants to become a positive part of the community create breeding grounds for neo-Nazi creeps. The same is true in Denmark, which now has one of the most restrictive immigration policies in the world.

Enty, looking for humor in such a post filled with such hugely controversial land mines is going to be next to impossible. That said, his name cracks me up a little bit. Ulf! I saw the sign, and it opened up my mind I saw the sign. Life is demanding without understanding. I got a new life, you would hardly recognize me I'm so glad, how could a person like you bring me joy? Why would I bother? When you're not the one for me? That song didn't make much sense for me until I recently left my ex.

Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a band I hate even one note from more. Being proNazi would actually make them rise in esteem for me.

Ulf: Open up your eyes -- we saw the sign. Life is demanding; but we're not understanding.

eeeeeeeeeeewwwwwww Seachica I hate that song!!!

I think I only liked it when that little alien critter on American Dad sings it!

He looks like a mashup of Steffan from SNL and Pauly Shore. Nice.

While he epitomizes the euro trash look I totally confess to loving Ace of Base and still bump their songs on occasion (especially when my boyfriend isn't around to judge me). I had all of their cds too when I was in high school. But then again I have a love for 90's dance music. A love that will never die (although thank god I grew out of my vinyl pants and platform London Underground heels era).

Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go bump "Cruel Summer" while gazing out of my cubicle and dreaming of my childhood.

I used to work at Sirius and he was always there lurking around. Not as a guest and I don't think on payroll. Not sure why actually but he was always there. He dresses like this daily.

Some of you forget to mention what Sweden, or corporations from Sweden, do in many of those countries where the immigrants came from. Unfair exploitation of natural resources (and people), toxic spills, water pollution... Not to mention those UN programs where they are paid for receiving refugees. Most of those refugees, whose stay in the country is financed by UN, are placed in ghettos and denied any possibility of working, etc.

I live in a country with the highest immigration rate in the last years, second to the USA. So I understand there are many problems, but it's just curious how we choose to ignore the problems our governments and big corporations do create in other places and the low value the lives and health of the natives have for them.

But, yeah, we are so perfect...

@Boozie ... You used to work at Sirius?? Gimme some gossip on Madison!!!

Pretty much sums up huge chunks of England and France as well. Gone to shit.

Boozie said...

@chop that is too funny that u say that bc she of everyone at that station was the craziest. I was eating tuna one day and she made gagging noises at the computer next to me until I threw it out to shut her up. And lots more too ugh don't miss her.

Cathy said...

To be honest, people bringing tuna in for lunch at an office was always a pet peeve of mine. Maybe it's just me, but I feel physically ill when I smell it. Of course, I wouldn't confront someone over it though.

Boozie said...

I mean people always had like Thai and Indian and NYC street food I don't think my tuna sandwich was a big deal in a huge open office. She was very passive aggressive dry heaving next to me it was incredibly lame. She's a bitch anyway.

He did all that he wanted.
Said this, it's now time for tom morello and all the communist/castro/chávez loving singers to apologize for supporting cruel and despicable dictatorships not dissapeared for 60 years.

@martine according to what you are writing, I think that you would love to be raped, tortured and killed by some of those inmigrants that you love because the country you live in colonized their countries and stopped them from torturing themselves, making human sacrifices, selling their own people as slaves... I won't do anything to defend you, in that case, and even clap at the inmigrant because you think you deserve it, and so do I.

Yo ! Mismo, harsh but true.
Adding to the apologists list: Sean Peen, Danny Glover, Jayzee and Beyonce..... I could go on, but why bother.

@YoMismo as someone who comes from country that was colonized I want to say thank you for coming to "save" us because according to you left to our own devices we'd be killing, raping and selling each other off. So thank you oh mighty and superior one.
/sarcasm
Your understanding of history is greatly lacking. Might I recommend going back and reviewing it starting with the Berlin Conference? You might want to pick a book called "Lies My Teacher Told Me."
It might help give you some insight on us "savages"
