Annual MV Clue
It is that time of the year. Another year has flown by and this week marks seven years since I first figured out how Blogger worked and hit publish for the first time. Almost 30,000 posts later and hundreds of thousands of comments I still like to go back to that first blind item that people still discuss. MV. If you have not read it yet, you can read the original 2006 blind right here.
I have a couple of new clues to offer this year.
She has been on a very popular CBS sitcom.
She has been on Saturday Night Live more than once.

As many have mentioned, it would not rock the industry to the core if it was Jlo, but it would if it was Mary.
Please search all my previous posts about MV where I detail why it's her.
Take into account ALL the clues, especially the fact that because S died, MV had to step up her game and actually learn to improve her voice since she could not rely on S anymore.
There has yet to be anyone who can show me how MJB doesn't fit the clues.
Remember, this would be a shocker!

I agree with you Versace. And I did just go back and listened to Love Don't Cost a Thing. And her newest. In Love, it sounds like her in the quick verses and another singers hitting the tough notes and the chorus. The Pitbull song sounds different. I think it's a little bit her and a LOT of other singers all auto-tuned together.
You just know in this day and age this is all going to come out at some point. Why would she still risk it? And the fact that she and Britney both judged singing shows and gave negative feedback to people who could sing them both under the table is just a joke.
And it's not Mary J Blige. She sang the National Anthem at the World Series and it was live and great.
@Ms. Cool- I actually think MJB butchered that song! She ruined it for me. If she were on The Voice or Idol or some show being judged by her voice (not her performance or looks or style), I honestly feel she would get ripped apart for her vocals.
Regarding her singing the National Anthem...she has been ripped by fans and non-fans when she has sang at various venues (Kentucky Derby for one). Just Google and Youtube. I will say one thing...her fans are strong and seem to see no wrong in her!
Again, the clues state she started out a weak singer , therefore she needed a back-up singer and eventually had to imprive her game to the point where she has to hold her own now when she sings live. It doesn't mean she can't sing now. It's just that for someone who has done as many tours, sold as many albums, etc., I would expect that someone to belt it out like the likes of Celion, Mariah, Kelly Clarkson or Christina. In my opinion, she could not hold her own against any if those 4 singers!
Does that seem obvious to anyone? MV has been around for years and everywhere doing her thing. This applied to Mary J. Blige, yet her "talent" is mediocre. She puts on a good performance and wails around and gets dramatic on stage, but I don't think that translate to a singer worthy of all the accolades MJB has. Someone a "great" a singer as MJB is to her fans, should not have news and forum posts, etc. as she does when you Google her. The other divas Ientioned most likely do not.

Like I said before, remember, Enty is willing to take this blind to the grave. He has dripped it out over 7 years because it would be so scandalous and shocking. He hss stated he fears for his life over this one. Do you really think he would feel that way over s JLo or Britney blind? Maybe. But there are a couple of clues that don't fit JLo or Britney. Almost ALL fit MJB. Why would Enty drip clues that don't apply to the popular guess?

To clarify, I meant to say, why does someone of her fame and magnitude have posts on the internet of how bad she sings or sounds. The other divas I mentioned certainly do not to the point where they can prove their singing chops if someone doubted them.

As for her singing the National Anthem at the World Series...again, if you play the video ofthat performance and turn your back to it and only listen to the vocals, they are not great at all for someone who hss achieved tge success and number of records sold and awards as she has. If I were an alien visiting from another planet who never heard of MJB, and you told me her resume and the sat me down to listen to her, I would expect someone to crush it! She does not. I feel alot of MJB's success is based on her connections in the industry that can get her gigs, her personality or approachability and because she has a good story/background people can relate to (started from nothing/the hood). Listen to Kelly Clarkson, Mariah, Whitney, etc. sing the National Anthem. MJB would rank last on that list of good performances. Yet, she has the awards to say otherwise. How? Why? She loked nervous as hell in the video before singing that National Anthem. Why if she has supposedly sang live a hundred times before. I know that's subjective to say though.
My point is, just because one person says it's not MV because they are a fan doesn't make it so. On the contrary, I think someone like MV would have fans that would not and could not believe it if it were revealed it was her.
I always unintentionally get in at the end of these posts so I don't get much feedback, so I appreciate your consideration Ms. Cool!

Yeah. And I think Enty himself eliminated Beyonce by stating it was not her in one of his clues.
JLo was eliminated for me because she has not done all the world concert tours Enty stated in one of the clues that MV has done. JLo's first tour was Let's Get Loud, then the other 3 she has done was when she was in concert with Mark Anthony (not really a personal tour for her), her Dance Again World Tour and Q'Viva, which was her reality show with Mark Anthony where she performed at the season finale (I was there), so I don't know how that is even listed as a concert for her. But anyways, she does not have the sufficient amount of tours under her belt to be MV.
Mary J. Blige on the other hand has a shitload of tours she has done since 1997 until last year's Liberation Tour.
In my opinion, MJB's success is based on WHO you know to make you reach your goals and become successful. She is a person with friends that make one not question her or them because there will be consequences. She has been fluffed and primed in front of the world.
It's all just fancy lighting, designer clothes, make-up and a friendly personality. What has gotten her by and accepted without questions is that she cemented her success early on with the help of S. By the time time S died, she was established, so from that point forward, why would anyone doubt her vocal talent?
What has never rested easy with me however, is why would Enty risk even hinting at this secret identity he knows of? Why share on a blog for others (and the world) to try and figure it? Is it real? Is it just a made up person he is getting the kick of watching everyone try to guess? If there would be such consequences to the reveal of this blind for him, why even dangle it in front of the world for seven years?
I guess in the end, it's all in the name of...entertainment. ;)
I remember reading somewhere that S is dead, but looking back, I can't find that clue. Did I make that up?
I pulled up a few of JLo's very first videos - back in 1999-2000. Listened to them very carefully with my eyes closed. Then pulled up a few from her latest album. Did the same. Aside from the very obvious & obnoxious auto-tune (my ears! my ears!) going on these days, there are a lot of subtle differences in the singing... for example, the way certain words are pronounced, the way the singer holds certain notes and sings certain words. It makes a very good case for it being Jennifer Lopez. Then again, if you really want to, you can find some similarities as well.
Do people change their singing style THAT much over 10 years? I'm thinking no... not really. If you picked someone who sounded similar to her to begin with, only better, you can blame the differences on auto-tuning, on age, vocal cord stress... There are a lot of things you can throw out there. But when you listen to someone like Barbra Streisand, who NEVER changes... kind of makes you go hmmm..... Also, I did the same experiment with a few Britney videos. Aside from the obvious auto-tune, I really didn't detect any difference between the vocals then, and the vocals from just this past few years.
@lutefisk - that's ridiculous! The decision making behind JLo doing an 'intimate' venue like that if she is going to lipsynch - someone's in denial maybe?? And ~10yrs is JLo at the height of her fame (I think? Certainly not on the down-slide like now), so surely she could have been a little selective in her appearances!?!

Alita, if I am not mistaken I believe I won the tickets from MTV. It was touted as an intimate JLo show, and they were looking for a certain target audience. Again, my kids were too young so I know it had to be about 10 years ago.
My cousin said she came out, talked to the audience, and sang to pre-recorded tracks. She did say she was beautiful in person, but we attributed that to many, many plastic surgeries over the years.

JLo fits this best. Sure, it's not such a big deal now, but considering how big a singing sensation she was when the blind first appeared, the escandolo factor back then would have been huge.

@lutefisk & @CountJ - yeah I gather that she'd $how for the opening of an envelope - just think maybe someone could have been a teensy bit more cunning and made it a dimly lit intimate venue - or changed it so only kids under 13 (instead of over) were there. Or a special intimate 'do for the visually impaired (instead of her usual hearing impaired victims). Something so that the lipsynching wasn't quite so glaring!

Aside from your opinion that Mary J. Blige is a good singer, please tell me which clue eliminates her. I think she is a strong contender for MV. I don't expect everyone to agree.

@lord manatan . Someone on lst yrs clue called out MJB too. You do make a good case, I must admit and it would blow us all away, BUT she could always sing live. I remember the v first time I saw her all those years ago. It was on YO MTV RAPS before her 1st album dropped. She was singin d shit outta something while puffy rapped. She was AMAZING then & sounds exactly same now. No difference to her tone or sound quality more polished and mature now maybe. She could always hit the notes she can now. How anyone can accuse her of not being a good singer is beyond me. Have seen her live. There was never any need to have to fake her voice when it's always been awesome.

I remember hearing brittanys mama made her get the plastic surgery when she was15 ,boob,nose,etc. and 1 of those surgeries severely damaged her vocal chords.. maybe the breathing tube or nose job. and her vocal chords are shredded, which is the real reason she has to lip-synch.. pre 1st rolling stone cover in undies, she sang live and well.. after that is when her issues w/ drugs, alcohol, mental problems started, but her mama won't let her tell the truth about what happened.. she tried to write a tell all years ago and that was when her dad had her declared mentally insane.. the facts check out people..

Britney is the answer for sure! Check out a backup singer called Myah Marie that has been singing "backup" for britney for years! She sounds exactly like what britney's "voice" since 2000 sounds like (which is when the blind item says the woman was hired to sing for her)

Without a doubt Britney Spears. I looked at all of the BI reveals and she fits every single one of them. It even fits why in 2006 "S" stopped receiving money (this was during Brit's crazy time). The CBS sitcom was indeed HIMYM (she played Abby in 2008) and SNL 3 times. Given the shitstorm with allegations that it isn't her singing on her latest album, I am 100% convinced this BI is about her.
