Summer isn't over for me yet but nothing special or unusual has happened yet this summer.
I took a new position at work. Yeah, I'm not really all that interesting. Sorry.

The Fappening
Dammit Dragon!
The fappening...?
Girls weekend.
Game of Thrones tour.
My daughter living at home for the summer. She lives close by in college housing but this was absolutely wonderful. We're in tight quarters but I didn't care.
Actually if we are counting that, last night was absolutely gloriosky!
I fell in love.
The Giant Leak of Newdes @Courtney
Hope it works out for both of you anna
Thanks sandy.
Thanks so much @sandybrook.
Finishing chemotherapy.
@Lexa
Wow, Lexa! You just put everyone else in their place! That is truly something worth celebrating. How are you, now?
@ItsCourtneyD
@annanaannnaaaa
Congratulations, ladies!
Stand up paddle boarding in HAWAII
@ANNA Congrats, there is nothing that tops FALLING IN LOVE. Best of luck to the HAPPY COUPLE. This makes me very happy to hear <3
@LEXA: Sending you a lifetime supply of HeisenHugs! I am so sorry about what you are going through and wish you the BEST
I found a Master's program after 11 years of earning my BA and working. The 11 years were comprised of 4 years of misery at work, and 7 years of meandering, travelling and being a bona fide lost bullet.
I feel as I can imagine one would feel before getting married for love.
Congrats to @Lexa and @Anna.
Wishing you the BEST!
Congrats to both of you!
Having my son surprise me with a visit with his girlfriend. Then my daughter came to visit as well. They live across the state from me and to have them with me for a week filled my heart with joy
Long walks with my dog and the fact that I have gotten through another season without someone I love that is very very bad for me.
@Sophie Helene
I think I understand exactly, Sophie. It took me seven years to start my Master's, but in my case the delay was due to illness. Fighting for it meant that I appreciated it so much more.
Enjoy yourself now, you've earned it.
This is a truly pathetic highlight in comparison with the rest of you, but this summer I've had several full night sleeps, for the first time in many years.
Meeting my niece from ND and spending time in NC with family.
+1 million!
@Yoj
I am happy you pulled through, but I do not have your merit. I did not go back because I just had no real direction, I was just lost... I really stumbled onto that program and a light went on. Now I can't wait!!! PLus I was admitted in second year so it means I have only a year to go before I graduate.
Is that how you became a librarian (did you not mention that at some point?)
Sharknado 2. Yeah, I don't have a life.
Yoj, one should never look down on a good nights sleep. absolutely crucial for brain function.
+1 billion Lexa. Hope you are well.
@Sophie Helene
Doesn't matter, all that's past now. You've paid your dues.
Twenty-one-year-old graduates rarely know what they want to do for a career and not everyone gets that "lightbulb" moment, at any age.
Good luck, Sophie!
Sorry, I forgot to answer your question! That's me, getting carried with sentiment.
Yes, my MA was Library & Information Studies. I'm also in a MA Conservation programme now (one and a half days a week, specialising in Books and Archival Materials), with two years left to go.
@Sherry
Thanks, Sherry
Sending best wishes to you Lexa.
Beach house rental with my family.
I can't believe summer is over. Kids are back in school and Pop Warner football started last Saturday.
@ Lexa, congrats to you and a long healthy life ahead.
@ Anna, love is grand. Congratulations!
@ Courtney, congrats on the new job.
@ Sophie, yeah for school. Congrats!
@Pug, Reno & Anjelicka - Nothing beats family & friends!!
That's lovely, PugsterMom. Did you bring your furbabies with you for the vacay?
*Pondering if Count is going to make this date an annual holiday?*
Annnnnnnna : that's the BEST thing to have happen. Also a great time to fall in love. You get to go out and do more, then, come winter, you know each other well enough to spend most of your time, inside and alone together. Congrats! <3
That's massive news Lexa. Take care of yourself. Xx
Congrats on your new job ItsCourtney
:)
Sophie Helen: you must feel so satisfied, proud and brimming with a sense of achievement. Congrats!
Thank you everyone! <3 <3 <3
Cancer-free and hair is comin' back.
That's tough Brenda. Glad you made it through and thank harvey for fur babies. X
Lexa, people tend to feel so much better physically, mentally (goodbye "chemo brain"!) And emotionally. Good luck with uour recovery :-)
Garden fresh tomatoes.
Congratulations to everyone! Such nice memories from this summer.
My main best summer moment was taking a four-day vacay with my homegirls sans husbands and chitlins. We've been friends for over 30 years, and I just think that is major.
In general, I love every moment of the summer because my work schedule is so slow and I get to spend every moment with my little guy, Evan. He is 3, and a total trip. I love that we were able to go on "adventures" and cook together and have family dinners. I am a piano teacher and am blessed with 50 students, but I work until 9 p.m. every night during the school year so my time with my little guy will be fleeting starting next week! Plus, he's starting pre-K. Eep. He is so stoked.
Cool Susan! I went for 4 days with my MIL, her friend and my 2 SIL's. No men or kiddos. It was a grand time!
Girls trip to Memphis Tennessee. We had a blast!
Nothing. This summer sucked ass.
We've been friends over a decade. I kinda feel like we're made for each other at this point. Thanks for the support, cdaners. :)
Thanks neighbor!!!!
I'm also glad my post wasn't tl; dr for ya sandy.
Best wishes to you, Lexa!!!!! Keep the spirits high!
I'm at cherrybomb now, lady H.
*Helene : sorry!
That's lovely Anjelicka!
*your
Walking around glaciers. It's coooooool! Sad that it's almost over.
The best part of the summer hasn't come yet, that happens when it's finally over and it starts cooling off. Fuck the heat of summer.
Then the worst part happens. The people who complained how hot it was and then complain that it's too cold. You can't have it both ways, especially when you go all winter saying "I can't wait for summer and the heat" then complain about it.
Remember, you can dress yourself warm, you can't dress yourself cool. I don't trust anyone who says they love summer, anyone who likes to be hot is obviously a demon borne from Hell taking human guise.
Nooooo fucking way!!! Put some X on for me. Josh used to keep them well stocked ;)
When my cat Romeo came home after being AWOL for a month--we knew he was in the area, and he showed up at the door that evening; he ran away at first, but after I propped the screen door open he poked his nose in the kitchen and then must have smelled something familiar, because he made a beeline under my bed! He's passed out snoozing on my bed right now, the little stinker...but I love him.
Oh, and Yoj, could you shoot me a message some time? I'm just about to start a Master's program in library science, also in archives, and what you're doing sounds like the kind of thing I'd be interested in. (And yes, Margaret Beaufort was a pistol back in the day, although I hear there's an Anne Neville biography out there I should read at some point, leaning more to the Richard III side of things myself...)
@Lexa
That's wonderful news, Lexa! I'm so happy for you.
@Susan
Your summer is my favourite. Three-year-old children are the best thing in the world (I'm obviously speaking as someone who's never had to parent one), their unique personalities emerge in full force and they haven't yet become self-conscious. My parents say that I changed virtually overnight when I started school. I went from a bossy, chatty little thing to a shy bookworm.
May you and your "little guy" have many more adventures together!
@RowdyRodimus
I'm with you! Can't stand the heat and as for humidity, urgh, NO. Why is it considered socially acceptable for people to strip off their shirts and sunbathe on public streets? The colder months are far more dignified.
@Robin the Mad Photographer
Yay about Romeo! I'm so happy for you. Being a cat owner (do you prefer human? Carer? Parent?) would turn me into a nervous wreck, they're so independent. Give me the co-dependency of a dog any day!
Congratulations on beginning your MA. Is it a one-year programme, like mine was? If so, it goes by so fast. Feel free to ask me any questions. I'm in the UK, though, so there may be differences.
I blame Shakespeare for the persistent caricature of Richard III as a malevolent cripple. He was no better or worse than the rest (the medieval world was no place for idealism or filial affection) and a formidable adversary.
Masters in library science! That is awesome. Good luck.
Yoj - Thank you.
