Blind Item #4 - Himmmm

This blind is classic Himmmm. I thought I would leave it in situ so to speak just leaving the names blank and providing a brief clue about each.

Did you also know that _________________ (former child actress turned A lister turned doesn't act any longer) grandfather (actor) was given a s**t-ton of stock from Jack Warner as part of his profit-sharing deal in the late 1920s? It makes those family feuds they had and still have make much more sense now. And when ________________ (silent film actress) and the grandfather split up, SHE got the shares. And through ALL the sell-offs, mergers, buyouts, etc. those shares were NEVER sold! Jack Warner – who apparently f**ked the lovely silent film actress - had them converted to Seven Arts stock; then the family lawyers had them converted to Kinney National stock (aka Steve Ross' Mafia family); then those stocks were split and converted into Warner Communications stock.  The silent film actress was actually the third largest shareholder in Warner's back when Jack ripped off his brothers. And after the former A lister was legally emancipated her lawyers got control of those shares, which were split and given par value through the Time-Warner deals, AOL deals, etc.

Today, the former A lister is the majority owner of two shell companies that control those minority limited partnership shares and the voting stock power. Yet, she's not even involved in her production company having any deals at WB. Seems odd. So other people are proxies for her and her company. Proxies also representing other families. It's quite an amazing maze.  Oh yeah, those smart lawyers for the silent film actress and later for the former A lister? A legal legend named Sidney Korshak. Google him. Quite the legend himself. He greased the wheels for the mob in Hollywood.

Angelica Huston

Angelica made her first film when she was 18, so I don't think she qualifies as a child actress. and aside from a brief cameo in her uncle's "Easy Rider", Fonda didn't make her first movie until her 20s.

the barrymore clan probably makes the most sense, era-wise, and because the current/former a lister child actor has her own production company. but drew still acts. also, henry fonda didn't become a star in time for this blind to have been about him.

John Barrymore - GF. Dolores Costello - wife, silent film actress. Drew B - modern child actress. Dolores has many descendants, who would share the estate.

Henry Fonda was definitely of the right era to have dated a silent film actress. He was born in 1905.

I guess it's good to be a Barrymore.

Drew Barrymore has a show on Netflix right now. If the blind is about someone who doesn't act anymore, it's obviously not her.

Does Brew arrymore have a ton of money and the stock to this day? I guess that’s the question to me after reading this.

That's a very good question Danielle. Maybe it is not Drew? Maybe it is? And for the others guessing...perhaps some people don't consider a Netflix series to be acting anymore? lol. Then again, anything with Tim Oily-pants has to be good. He's a very underrated actor, and one hell of a great guy. One of those guys who never flaunts his helping others; does his job wonderfully; and on to the next project. Did you know he's part of the Vanderbilt clan? And related to Andy Cooper? I doubt they have family reunions with checkerboard tablecloths and sack races, but are related nonetheless.

Since you brought up Drew's name - whatever success she has (financial, personal, or otherwise) she deserves it. That young lady has been through the wringer and back and never turned her back on a friend. She's an inspiration and a hero to many. Nobody's perfect, but I hope whatever goes on in her life is good. She deserves it.

I suppose "acting" is subjective.

Hello.

Bridget Fonda's last credit on IMDB is 2002, and her first credit is "Child in Commune" in Easy Rider at age 5. Gotta be her.

I don't think it's the Fondas because Henry wasn't in Hollywood in the 20's to make the deal. John Barrymore was already a big star in the 20's.

It reads like the Barrymores but I tend to doubt that they actually have that stock/money. John Barrymore and Dolores Costello had two children, including John Drew Barrymore who was the father of Drew. If I remember the tabloid gossip, Drew basically grew up in poverty (and now financial supports her mother) and John Drew Barrymore ended up homeless on the streets. Admittedly there were substance and other issues but it doesn't exactly read like 50% share of a vast fortune.

It has to be Drew. The emancipation locks it in for me, also the comment about her production company. Can't think of any other actress with a family history like hers and a life like hers that fits?

Also, welcome back himmmmm!!

It's gotta be Drew. John Barrymore was HUGE back in the '20s and early '30s with the advent of sound. He was the premiere stage actor and matinee idol of that time. Don Juan, with synchronized sound, predates The Jazz Singer by a year and was a prestige picture and monster hit for Warner Brothers so it makes sense Jack Warner would give John Barrymore all that stock. And Drew's Flower Films has been around forever and she's been big into production for over twenty years. And Sidney Korshak's wife was great friends with Dinah Shore, which only I could possibly care about. Another fun blind!

Now that I read this again I think Brooke Shields, even though I have no idea about her family background.

brooke comes from a rich new york social family on her father's side, which includes some european royalty, but no hollywood heritage.
