This foreign born A list singer who, despite a fairly short career is probably permanent A list at this point wants nothing more than to sit around and do nothing. Literally watch television and drink wine with some occasional shopping. At this point even if you offered her $100M a year she won't go play every night for a few months straight and would absolutely hate having to meet fans after. She loathes that and it is a very big requirement of a recent offer.

Adele is a phenomenal talent, who seems to be a bit of an arsehole.
monteverde - No, taking the $100 mil and treating her fans poorly because she didn't want to be there - would be an arsehole. She owes us nothing, if she wants to stay home and raise her kids - so be it. But it is not being an arsehole.
I've never, ever been a fan of hers. This does nothing to change that.
What's funny is that the writer of this little tidbit makes it sound as though it's a bad thing. Oh how you wish you could stay at home and indulge your hobbies. She owes no one nothing.
I love her music and hope she records again.
@Judith Brace is right, if she is not happy touring, she would put on a bad show anyway. She needs to take care of her mental and physical health, not be called out for not cashing in.
Agree, Judith and Guesser...touring and performing consecutive nights is an incredible physical and emotional strain - and not everyone is a people person. Of course it'd be a shame not to share her gift with the world but it's totally her choice...maybe decisions like this have allowed her to grow up in the business and not get (from appearances) totally effed by it like some of her peers and predecessors
This is an absolute bullshit blind, probably sent in by someone with an ax to grind or a fan bitter about missing the last show. She has damaged her vocal chords from her last tour, she may not record again. This is like a dancer having broken legs. She cannot sing, no matter how much she is offered, and she might have to have surgery again. She has a five year old son, she is plenty busy. Even before she cancelled the last shows she made it very clear that she would take at least a year off after the tour and not to expect another album for two years.
I don't blame her, she's already worth millions and wants to spend time with her little boy.
Your children are little for such a short time, and it flies by. She has the money to stay home and enjoy some leisure and spend time with her kid. Why would anyone act like that's a bad thing?
adele can do whatever she wants, far as i'm concerned. i think she's just kind of a hermit.
Anybody remember Enya? She would only make records and never toured. Adele should do the same thing she has the voice and fan base that will buy her records. It's not exactly a secret she is lazy, she is pretty open about it.

Just casting my opinion that Adele can do whatever she wants. She has a young child, she doesn't need more money, and she is an introvert. She's still young and phenomenally talented (and while I do like a few of her songs, I don't really consider myself a fan), and she'll get back to it again when she damn well feels like it.

I hadnt known she damaged her voice again but believe it because she screeches a lot.
Personally, I'm jealous. I mean I wish I could have an amazing enough talent to work a couple years, turn out enough bucks and then drink wine on my couch forever. Isn't that the dream?
She comes across as lazy, always has. Her looks reflect that, see her not all made up, looks like she just rolled out of bed. She is not lazy to be with her kid she lazy because she is lazy. Period.
The only reason she is so popular is because Amy Winehouse is dead and everyone else in todays music scene sucks.
She is not an amazing talent, she has an ok voice but she is not the phenom people make her out to be. Not by a long shot.
A musician/singer who doesn't like touring is like a window cleaner who is afraid of heights. WTF are you doing in this profession? Lazy and entitled woman. At least george michael had genuine reasons to step back from the limelight.

Yes, it's true Adele has had vocal damage, but it's hard to sympathize with her when she could work with a coach to avoid some of the damage that she causes to her cords.
She could also assert control over her tour and plan rest days, but probably wants to get it over with, putting more strain on her voice.
BUT, I agree that she doesn't owe us anything, though it's her loss not to continue performing, IMO.
LMAO I cannot even hate. If I had a million dollars, I'd do nothing too. Maybe personal projects, stuff for myself, but not to make a living. BOR-RING.
Actually really refreshing to see an entertainer that isn't so desperate to stay in the limelight they'll show up to the opening of an envelope. She seems to have her priorities in order.
The only thing Adele does is make me wish Eva Cassidy and Amy Winehouse were still alive.
