Blind Item #2

It has been nearly three decades since this promising B list mostly television actor died of AIDS. He never got to see the project that would have given him his big break. He contracted the disease because of that manager/industry protected pedophile who passed around the actor and many others. Somehow that manager is still alive and is still being protected by the industry/union to which he belongs because they don't want to admit culpability or be forced to pay if sued.

Marty Weiss is as vile as they come.

If it's Butrick, what would be the big break?

Hollyweird is an awful place to be employed, sex is the key to everything..
People still wants their child to be the next big hit, and they will lose everything, to be that.
So sad

Calling Merrick Buttrick B list is a huge stretch, and neither of the two projects released the year he died are anything anybody has ever heard of, they're both Z list horror schlock. The only other 80s TV actor I can think of that died of AIDS is Tom Villard, but he didn't die until 94, and he was too old to be of any interest to the pedophiles by the 80s.

@Tricia
If this is meant to be Murphy, clearly Enty has never seen "Doing Time on Planet Earth". It's one of the absolute worst movies to exist, and would not be considered A big break by any standards.

I'm guessing that cause of death was not publicized as AIDS, or this would be easier to figure out.

Fucking Marty Weiss’ twitter bio literally says “both sides of #metoo” he’s legit bragging about sexually abusing others. Fucking asshole.

I can't think of who this is. I looked up Buttrick on IMDB to see if any of that z list schlock was actually considered cult classic stuff. I don't see anything that was memorable. And believe me, I actively seek these kinds of films out and I am not the only one.

He was in Fright Night 2. As well as Star Trek 2&3. But the Star Trek roles were years before his death.

As someone else said, maybe his death wasn't publicized as AIDS. Someone with another illness perhaps? Publicized as cancer or something? maybe even losing your life to pneumonia?

I'm trying to think of anyone who had a breakout role then died before they could benefit from it. But I'm drawing a blank tonight. I'm sure there's someone that fits the time frame.

Disgusting is there any line that won't be crossed? Anything that people won't turn their heads and ignore?

I know stage names can be hilarious (Peter O'Toole, anyone?) but a dead rent boy named Butrick? Who writes this stuff?

Merritt Butrick was really talented and should have had a great career ahead of him.

@Substance, about the names, I recall hearing some famous agent interviewed, and he gave his clients a lot of stupid names.

He bragged about forcing the name "Tab Hunter" on that actor, "because I couldn't get a tab on him."

He mentioned some others from that era (don't recall who now), but I remembered that one because it stood out for its idiocy and self-importance (of the agent, not the actor).

Yeah, sometimes a stage name is essential. Merritt's real name was Ben Dover but that doesn't have the same panache, does it?
