Today's Blind Items - The "Mentor" - Old Hollywood

Everyone always said that this director/producer/3D innovator/A list discoverer of talent was protective. What that really meant was that if you did as you were told and did who you were told to do, then he protected you. Our director discovered lots of actors, including a permanent A list actor who is very much alive and has multiple Oscar wins/nominations. The actors really didn't have to do anything other than act. The women on the other hand were cast in lots of movies, but they also had to help secure the financing for said movie. Our director would travel across the country with a handful of women who had been in movies and offer them up to rich men or bankers or whoever he could convince to give a few bucks to. He was very generous in paying the women, but he would happily sell one off if said banker or rich person wanted their very own movie actress as a wife or girlfriend.
