How About Saving A Buck?

Entertainment Tonight Canada had an interview with JD Fortune. Do you remember him? He was the Canadian guy who won that INXS reality show competition and got to be their new lead singer. He was such a great story because before the contest he had been living out of his car and dead broke. Well, after he won the contest he toured with the band for about two years before they fired him and now he is broke and homeless and living in his car. He didn't indicate if it was the same car as before or if he has a different car he is calling home now.

Here's the thing about this. I think that homeless people have it rough and it is so hard to build any momentum to ever get out of your car or off the streets. The odds are stacked way against you. Homeless people who make it off the streets rarely let themselves go back. I don't know if we are supposed to feel sorry for this guy now or what. But, I will say that if I got paid the kind of salary he got paid for two years and had virtually no expenses I would not be living back in a car after it was over. What the hell did he spend all his money on? Did he think the gig would last a lifetime? Nothing lasts forever. It was such a cool story when he won the contest and I think everyone really wanted him to win. Now I think he is just some kind of idiot for letting himself get back into the same place again with no chance of winning the lottery a second time.

Ten Years Have Passed

Tomorrow is the 10 year anniversary of the death of Michael Hutchence. As you probably know, Michael left behind a daughter named Tiger Lily who he had with Paula Yates. Paula died of a drug overdose in 2000. At that time, Bob Geldof took in Tiger Lily because he was Paula Yates' ex. Now, it seems as if Bob wants to make the relationship more permanent as he has notified Michael's family that he intends to adopt Tiger Lily and change her name to Geldof.

Michael's mother Tina has been allowed to see Tiger Lily for only four days in the past seven years despite many pleas which have fallen on very deaf ears. The Hutchence family feels they should be the ones adopting Tiger Lily. I disagree. They had their chance in 2000 to do something and chose not to. They have made half hearted attempts since then, but nothing else. I agree that Bob Geldof should allow visits, but there is no way that I would uproot a child from the only home they probably remember and put them with people they have never seen, and a country they don't remember.

The Hutchence family should be grateful to Bob Geldof and his family, and eternally thankful that he couldn't think of another name that begins with P or he may have changed Tiger Lily to Pussy Willow Geldof.

Michael Hutchence Makes Another Appearance

Being Halloween and all, this is kind of starting to creep me out. So yesterday we had Simon LeBon coming out and saying that he believes Michael Hutchence was murdered. Today, Bono made a completely unexpected announcement that he was going to auction his Red Ducati motorcycle for the charity Riders For Health which provides health care workers in Africa with vehicles.

The bike previously belonged to his U2 bandmate Adam Clayton and originally to the late INXS star Michael Hutchence. Bono dedicated the bike to the singer and signed the fuel tank with the message "To Michael, Bono".

Michael Hutchence Didn't Kill Himself

Despite evidence to the contrary including a coroner's report, Duran Duran's Simon LeBon still thinks Michael Hutchence didn't kill himself back in November 1997. LeBon is convinced Hutchence was murdered or some other explanation exists for the death of the former INXS singer.

A belt found at the scene suggested the 37-year-old had hanged himself, and the coroner's report backed up the theory. But LeBon, who was once housemates with the late singer, is sure there is more to the story than people have been led to believe. He says, "He loved life, women and drugs."

"He lived it to the full - there is no way he'd have wanted to end it all".

As much as I love a great conspiracy theory like whether Suri is really Tom Cruise's baby, I just can't think of a reason why Hutchence would be murdered. I do think it is possible that because of the belt found at the scene, and the fact that he was found in the nude suggests that perhaps Hutchence was engaged in some type of auto-eroticism, but I can't believe he was murdered. The coroner in the case didn't mention anything about auto-eroticism, but that could have been just to make it look more palatable to the family.

Was someone there when it happened? I think that's possible. Kym Wilson and Andrew Reyment were the last people known to have seen Michael alive, but I think it's doubtful they were in the room when it happened, and even if they were, that they murdered him. Why would they?

The only real question I have ever had about his death, is what happened to his money. Yes, he loved drugs and women and wasn't shy about spending money on both, but after his death, no trace was found of his alleged fortune. Did he really spend that much, or did a relative find it and keep it for themselves and not tell anyone?
