NY Post Blind Items

Which action star was lying when he said recently he'd never have plastic surgery? The actor has obviously had his eyes done in the last year or two, judging by the way his crow's feet magically disappeared .

WHICH best-selling, but slow-writing, author had some help finishing his latest novel? A translator for one of the potboiler's foreign editions noticed from the shifting syntax and sentence structure that the book was penned by at least two writers .

WHICH heiress who married a mob-connected artist years ago is now claiming to old friends that her husband is conspiring with shady lawyers and doctors to declare her insane and seize all her money?

Hugh Jackman? He looked different in last nights pictures.

Why is everyone guessing Dan Brown?

Definitely Bruce, but he hasn't messed up his face like Stallone has.

1. Bruce Willis (Just to throw out another name)

2. Steven King (Again just to throw out another name, but Dan Brown makes much more sense)

3. This could be juicy if I knew any heiress

Definitely NOT Stephen King. He's never been "slow-writing"! :-)

Looooved DaVinci Code. Didn't finish The Lost Symbol. Lost interest. It was due at the library before I finished and I didn't bother to re-order. Too much of the same from the last two books.

Love Dan Brown but he hasn't been exactly prolific....Still, you could also say George RR Martin. People have been waiting 4EVER for the next Fire and Ice.

#1 Definitely Bruce. See http://news.makemeheal.com/category/male-mens-plastic-surgery

#2 Dan Brown is a good guess.

#3 Carole Mallory, maybe?

1. Bruce Willis (amazing what keeping up with a new young wife will make you do)

2. Dan Brown (its long been rumored his wife writes his novels for him).

3. The L'Oreal ladies, the Bettancourts.

#1 I was going to guess RDJ but not sure if Iron Man could make him an "action star"; Hugh Jackman?

#2 ??? Dan Brown sounds feasible. My husband is reading his latest now. I will ask him what he thinks.

#3???

Concerning Dan Brown, I had heard that his wife was responsible for the plot and documentation but that she wasn't very interested to be in the spotlight or write the actual sentences. The book have always been co-written.

I was also thinking about James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia...): the third novel in the Underworld USA trilogy took more than five years to be completed. However, terms such as "shifting syntax" and "sentence structure" would suggest that his books are written by ten differnt guys.

I wanna see either Hugh or Bruce Willis for number one.

I like Dan Brown for number two, yes. There are some other names I'm trying to think of who it could be. James Patterson was one that leaped to mind, but isn't it somewhat well known that James Patterson works with "co-authors"?

I wanna *say, not see! I can type!

Yep someone above mentioned the longstanding rumor that Dan Brown didn't even write the DaVinci Code, his wife did. (Don't know about the earlier books.) Has to be him.

#1 Bruce Willis
#2 Thomas Harris
#3 ?

The term "potboiler" is usually used to describe a really badly written novel...would Lost Symbol be considered a 'bad' book? I dunno--the style is super simple, but the plot is engaging and complex so the style actually helps you "eat" the book instead of just read it.

I have heard, however, that critics really don't enjoy him for the same reason, so maybe it is him.

@nunaurbiz: stephen king's latest book took him over two decades to write. off and on. and getting hit by a bus. regardless, this could be consider a "slow-writing" process...

i agree 1 is prob Bruce, but first can we all agree that Tommy Girl had his whole lid lifted in the last year or so? he went from scrunchy faced constipated 80yo to fresh faced 25yo rentboy in Soho.

I hate Dan Brown. Anyone read Deception Point? I felt like I was reading a script. And I was surprised that DaVinci Code was pretty much from the same template.

janele said...

@BigMama: It can't be GRRM. I doubt he's even finished with DwD. Unless the BI is about AFFC, which is doubtful.

TONIc said...

Yes, Dan Brown. That stupid DaVinci Code was a huge sensation. They usually follow up quickly because of the momentum, but he's a slowpoke and everyone concerned was losing tons of cash.

Been researching #3 all evening and finding nothing. Liliane Bettencourt is a widow so it's not her. Am falling asleep.

@nancyface:
you're obviously not a king fan. he consistently puts out a book every year or two. he's been known to put things away and come back to them years later.
one of the most prolific authors around.
