Middle School Teacher Suspended For Starring In Porn
Apparently at parent teacher night, some of the dad's recognized Stacie Halas from her porn roles and word spread and the next thing you know the middle school teacher was suspended. Stacie teaches science and when not teaching is known as Tiffany Six. Many of the other teachers and administrators viewed her videos for hours and hours each day over the course of several weeks and then kept coming back to it just to make sure and would watch it repeatedly before finally deciding they needed to maybe watch it a little more in the privacy of their own home where they could really focus on the task at hand. Stacie has committed no crime, and she could probably make a great sex ed teacher. Do they actually have sex ed classes now or are they just part of another class?

Although I do believe it takes a very sad girl with a very sad history to want to be a porn star. This is what ultimately bums me out about porn.

This woman should have the right to privacy. What she does on her off hours is her business. Yeah these kids could have stumbled upon their teacher just like the parent did but is it really up to HER to prevent that?
I haven't seen her porn so I don't know the level of "nasty" she hits but I just have a really hard time throwing stones at someone for exercising the First Amendment.

If she teaches in a public school system, then she is most likely under a union contract. Perhaps there is some kind of morals clause in there and she was fired for violating it?? Just saying.

The people who are the most hurt by this are the 8th grade boys who now have to be taught science by someone that they haven't seen naked.
Most teachers I know who want to make some extra cash, bartend in the summer or work at camps or down the shore.

And not for nothing, I come from a family of teachers (my Mom was an art teacher for over 40 years, and they make great money and have great benefits.) Not to mention they get off for every stupid holiday under the sun. At least that's how it is in Jersey. I know they have to put up with a lot of bullshit - mostly from really annoying helicopter parents or parents who don't give a shit, but being a teacher is a great gig, IMO. But you have to love it to do it.
I would hope that my children's teachers were smart enough to know that having a second career as a porn start will get you fired...
I certainly hope middle school kids aren't watching porn. If their parents allow it, then it's the parents fault. I don't see the problem with Stacie doing her own little thing for extra money on the side. As long as it doesn't affect the children she teaching, I don't see a problem at all.
Some do make great money, with great benefits, and belong to a killer union.
What she does on her own time should be her own business, but the porn thing is iffy. Personally, I would be uncomfortable if she taught my child.

Teaching can be a difficult job and in most cases the pay isn't great, but I doubt she's doing porn to "support herself".

And I grew up with a guy who taught school, then made gay porn, then tried to get back into teaching, was recognized, and run out of town on a rail. So then he started making straight porn. (So, who was watching all that gay porn?) It was really kind of tragic.

I don't want to stir up a storm but I should point out that teachers are not underpaid. The average salary per hour for teachers is slightly below the average salary for people with similar education and experience. However the average benefits per hour enjoyed by teachers are substantively higher than equivalents in other sectors. Combined the total compensation per hour for teachers is approximately ten percent higher than equivalents in other sectors. Obviously having more vacation days or being able to retire a few years earlier than others twenty years down the road doesn't help with the rent payment due this month. However those are choices that are made when you enter teaching.
For the record, my brother is a teacher and I'm a taxpaper paying for him.

alot of teachers get paid very well and have really good benefits and pensions etc., so lets dismiss the notion of the poorly paid teacher. I'm sure they are out there, but its not all teachers.

this is just an IQ test. if they are not smart enough to know that if someone finds out - which they will eventually - about the porn they will be fired, then they shouldn't be teaching school.
I don't have kids, but I wouldn't be crazy about having someone who worked in the porn industry teaching them if I did. However, I don't know that I'd be upset enough to want to have her fired. While it's (to me) a disgusting and degrading way to make money, it isn't against the law nor does it mean that she'd be any more or less likely to engage in inappropriate behavior with a student. Usually, it seems to be the uber-religious or extreme do-gooder types that end up in dalliances with their students. However, if I had a child in that school, they DAMN sure would never go to that kid's house again!! That dad must have watched a lot of porn to recognize her!! He's the creepiest person in this story!
Im fairly certain that most teachers have some sort of moral turpitude clause in their contracts and im guessing "porn star" doesn't fall in line with that.
Your expectation of privacy ends when you film and distribute yourself having sex, in my opinion.
My middle schooler learns about sex ed in his Health class. It is just one portion of the curriculum. Ah the joy of seeing those cartoon, generic looking body parts in your school textbook. Which I might add is his only textbook he brings home every single night...hmmmm.....

My undergrad is in elementary education and when I was researching what I would make as a first year teacher in SC, it was in the low 20's. That coupled with what I went thru in my student teaching and the fact that my heart was not in it AT ALL, I chose another path. Some of my teacher friends in other states make double with just a B.A. than my sister (teacher) who has two masters. Location, location, location. No clue what teachers in Cali make.

as for this teacher, I dont see the problem with her "second job". I dont think it is the best way to make money, but that is my opinion. Why should it matter to the school/parents? she isnt doing it in front of the students or during school hours.

As long as what she was doing was not openly advertised at the school and did not interfere or conflict with it, then it was no one's fucking business. She wasn't laying spread eagled on her desk in class having sex in front of her students, for gods sake.
And yeah, teachers are way underpaid. We as a nation glorify and don't think twice about someone unessential to society, such as athletes and actors, making a boatload of cash for what they do. Teachers are essential to a thriving society, just like police and firefighters are. I don't fault anyone in public service trying to get by.

Was the porn done before she became a teacher or is she currently doing porn? I believe there are much better occupational choices she could have made being that she does work with kids but she didn't break the law. And it didn't affect the kids she taught at all. It's not like they were the ones watching it (I hope)
I get what you're all saying that filming porn is on her downtime and whatnot. But for reals. There is no way in hell I want a porn actor teaching my kid or helping my kid through life. Yeah, it's legal but it's an industry riddled with drugs, abuse, seediness and shit that ain't good for kids. Teachers are role models. Teachers impact the lives of our children. So I have to disagree with the argument that, "Well, her private time is her private time." That's bullshit, IMO.
Daveb...I can agree with you to a certain extent. It depends on where you live. For example. In the town I live in near NYC, Teacher are paid about $40K and $45K a year, and that's with a masters degree. My other friend is a teacher in the Westchester, NY. She makes $90K a year. I couldn't believe it. That's a lot of money. She said she is far from the highest paid too. Teachers also work 7 days a week for 9-1/2 months out of the year. Then they have 2-1/2 months off.
Again the hypocrisy between it being OK to watch porn, but not to star in it. If no-one watched, there wouldn't be an industry.
Someone, I suppose, found some pics somewhere, and then people looked some more. In my single search of a dirty picture aggregator site, I found basically half a dozen shoots. Most seemed pretty run-of-the-mill, one was gross (to me) in sort of a funny way, because it was obviously fake. And generally, she didn't look that into whatever she was doing. But I didn't watch motion (except that funny one), just some snapshots.
I hate the existence of porn, but I hate the hypocrisy of the father that watched her porn and then judged her for it. It only exists because it has an audience. He is the problem!
(a.) The average starting salary for public school teachers with a bachelor's degree is something like $45,000 a year. That is roughly $5,000 - $10,000 a year more than any other discipline requiring a bachelor's degree, including computer scientists and engineers. Let me tell you something -- engineers have to pass a rigorous exam to earn their license before they can begin working as engineers. No public school teachers have to pass a rigorous exam to earn any teaching license before they're allowed to teach.
(b.) A lot of these "poorly paid" public school teachers complain that their salaries are not commensurate with those of doctors, lawyers, or professional athletes. First off, if you want to be a doctor or lawyer you have to invest considerably more time and money toward further education than if you were to get into teaching. Then, if you want to be a lawyer, you have to pass a rigorous exam in order to be licensed, and then you'd either have to spend years as a lowly gofer type in an established firm still making less than what the average PS teacher makes in order to become a part of that firm, or you'd have to invest a lot of time and energy toward starting your own practice and thus run your own business on top of being a lawyer.
As for being a doctor -- you'd have to spend years in internship and residency duty, getting very little sleep, being demanded a whole lot, having people's lives in your hands, and then when you're done and can go into private practice you have to shell out tons and tons of money toward malpractice insurance and the other expenses incurred toward that practice (staff salaries, rent, supplies, etc.), before you can start paying yourself. And that's not even counting the crippling load of school loans you have to pay.
As for professional athletes: Sure, they can earn exorbitant sums of money if they're a "name" or have proven their mettle in the major leagues, but who you're talking about is less than 1% of the sum total of athletes considered good enough to make it to the varsity squad of their high school's team. A high school athlete stands a better chance of getting struck by lightning than of making it as a professional athlete in the NFL, NBA, NHL, or other similar leagues. Then when they get to college, they have to devote countless hours toward their athletics AND academics. All the college-level instructors I know have made this observation -- that, while there are college athletes who do take advantage of the fact that they could get an easy pass on courses if they so choose, the only college athletes who make it to the pros are those sober young athletes who not only put in the most practice time but also put in the most time toward their studies and EARN the grades they get. This means devoting nearly all their waking hours toward sports and studies, with maybe the odd occasional night they take off to engage in some kind of social life.
(Again, I must remind you that public school teachers need only a bachelor's degree, in a field that requires the easiest degree to take [i.e. it's hardly as rigorous as English or European history, say], where they don't incur even 1/10th the expenses as someone working toward the goal of being a doctor or a lawyer, in a field that has virtually no competition to speak of.)

(c.) If public school teachers have it so tough, they should talk to their Catholic school colleagues to realize how good they have it. When I was getting ready to graduate from my Catholic high school, my school librarian, whom I befriended, told me that he made what the teachers at my school made -- $18,000 a year. This was back in 1997, when the average public school teacher in my city made $32,000 a year. Catholic school teachers incur all the expenses public school teachers incur, have to rely on corporate and private donations to make up the rest (since Catholic schools are considerably more underfunded than public schools), put up with more outdated technologies and facilities than do their public school counterparts, and have to educate the same kids you'd encounter in the public schools. (And it's a myth that Catholic schools are easy to kick out students -- the way it worked at the ones in my archdiocese is that they dropped out before it escalated to the point where they were ejected from school. Plus, no students with learning disabilities got kicked out because steps were taken to ensure they'd learn at the same level as those students without learning disabilities, in ways that would allow them to learn effectively.)
(d.) Having said that, I find nothing wrong with a school teacher, public or non-public, being a former or current porn actor. What they do on their own time is their own concern and, unless it directly impacts the students at the school, should have no bearing on their standing at the school. If we're talking about a teacher who's making homemade porn tapes with a student, then that teacher should be fired, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. OTOH, if we're talking about a teacher making professional porn movies with consenting adults outside of their school universe, then why should it matter that this teacher has chosen to add to their income in this manner?
