Woman Survives In Wilderness For 12 Days After Sex Attack

Stephanie Beaverbones was found by an oilfield worker this week after surviving for 12 days in the wilderness of Alberta. She survived by eating berries and drinking river water. Her ordeal began when her car broke down. Two of her friends went for help while Stephanie and a man she barely knew stayed with the car. That is when he made his move. She ran for it and during her escape broke her jaw and suffered a mild concussion, but kept right on going. She ran and ran and then realized she was lost and had no idea how to get back to the road or anywhere else. Police have charged her attacker with aggravated assault and sexual assault.

I just think focusing on her name when she's been through this kind of hell is pretty disrespectful and immature, as well as disrespectful of her heritage. When the Colonialists arrived, they couldn't work with that system. So they asked some people what they would like to be called, or just made up surnames to give to some people.

Today, some of those names 'sound cool'. Other of those names show the racial divide.

Sexual assault laws are contained within the federal Criminal Code, and prosecuted provincially. Yes, he will do some jail time, but nothing close to what most US sentences seem to be.; 10:18 PM

Am I to think that you are an expert on Northern Indigenous People? Because everything I wrote is basic, but true, and there was no discrimination or stereotyping, no offense made, nor intended. So, if you know more about: Athabascan (Dena), Athabascan (Yup'ik & Cup'ik), Inupiaq & Yupik, Aleut & Alutiiq, Eyak, Tlingit, Haida & Tsimshian, cultures than I do, and you very well may, or, if you are a member of one of these many proud tribes (which I highly doubt). That is the only excuse you have for that absurd comment regarding, stereotyping.
Just tone it down a lot and keep the offenses to a minimum.

2nd, and most importantly, she was attacked, fought him off, ran, survived, and found help. All of this takes knowledge that she was taught and she used. I know for fact, that staying calm is the most important key to survival. She was taught that as well, from her family. When you live a subsistence lifestyle, all of these skills are taught and taught, until it is second nature. One has to if they expect to survive on that land of extremes.; 12:20 AM
