Is the Met Gala a fashion event or an art event? I know last years was a tribute to punk but is that the case always? Just curious. I'm reading it as the A list co-host won't attend.
"Hosts" of fundraising galas usually don't attend them. They agree to lend their name to the cause to help sell tickets. It's only if they have nothing else to do, or if they are very passionate about the cause (i.e. it's their non-profit foundation) that they show up. The designer better get a backup plan.
Is Paltrow even invited to the Met Gala anymore? She shittalked it pretty hilariously in 2013. Maybe Enty just needed to make a blind item that she wouldn't be attending because of JLaw.
The Met Gala is not some mid range charity fundraiser. The Met Gala is THE fashion event of the year. Co-hosting is a huge honor/responsibility. This isn't some group of middle-aged socialites slapping their name on something to raise money.

JLaw is the only one (so far) announced as a co-host. And to be fair I wouldn't want to go either but then if Dior is paying me a shit load then perhaps I'd change my mind.
@Topper I'd agree most times but the MET gala is meticulous. You don't get mentioned as even possibly attending unless you're actually turning up, let alone announced as a co-host. This is Anna Wintour's thing, the co-host attends (has a theme) & sits with Anna at her table during the event I believe. Co-hosting the MET gala is a big deal even if you think fashion is ridiculous & overly-inflated. No way Anna and/or MET gala event would risk their co-host not turning up.
