Sentencing Day For The Giudices And Their $13M Debt Is Back

Not only are Joe and Teresa Giudice getting sentenced today and facing years in jail, but they found out this week that the $13M in debt they thought was discharged by a bankruptcy trustee was overturned by the judge overseeing their bankruptcy. So, instead of having no debt, they now have $13M in debt and are looking at prison time. I still believe that Teresa will get no actual jail time and Joe probably will be given a couple of months before he has to show up for jail, it might even be until after the holidays. If Teresa is not sentenced it is going to be up to her to try and pay off that massive debt so you can be assured there will be lots of marketing herself and her products but does anyone want to buy things she is selling? She has taken a big fall in support and popularity from the days when she had a best selling cookbook and people would line up for an hour to meet her.

No underestimating how stupid people can be--waiting hours to meet her?

How do you blow 13 million ?

On the other hand love to know why they wouldn't grant the bankruptcy unless it was the criminal convictions. Wow so nice to know they actually decline bankruptcy applications from time to time.

ugh, these two. Bankruptcy is just too easy for people like them who clearly intentionally crossed a line at some point and made a career out of getting there.

I've been watching this season of RHONJ and actually like Teresa again. Joe needs to go to jail.

I know everyone thinks she's going to get no jail and just house arrest but those are some serious charges and the federal gov't don't mess around . . .I'd be shocked if she didn't have to serve something (see: Martha, Lauren Hill (who has like SIX kids), and a slew of other celebs indicted on federal charges).

I have a feeling she does 3-6 months and joe gets 8 years. Who's taking the bets?

They did bring this on themselves leaving high on the hog. I really couldn't stand her because of trying to pretend she was like Mrs. Trump. I do think they will likely be made even more of an example of because they are on tv. Part of me, though, says look at the thieves on Wall Street that literally brought this country to the brink and serving no jail time. Nothing happened to them over BILLIONS of dollars. And I do feel bad for Joe having just lost his Dad, who no doubt went to early grave from stress because of his son. It's just all really sad. I think she'll get house arrest and Joe is going away for at least a couple years.

Oh Missyrocks, you with your righteous indignation for those Wall St guys. They were fined silly. Just that the gov'mt got that money cuz you know, they were burned worse than anyone. (sarcasm of course)

I too am surprised about them denying the bankruptcy. You know what that means? They may just have to auction off everything. Does anyone know if in those cases they can also take their house? If it's because of I'll gotten gains I think they can.

If they hadn't been so greedy and declared bankruptcy they probably would have gotten away with their loan fraud. The bankruptcy drew intense scrutiny to their finances.

A lot of people lie on loan applications by stating income above what they earn, especially during the housing market boom years.

Joe still would have been in trouble for cheating his partner though.

However a broker friend of mine who never liked the subprime stuff and never peddled it to her clients and got some promotions for her wisdom, said she saw paperwork where Fanny Mae was giving mortgages to clients who were not even lying about their income for houses they CLEARLY could not afford.

I did not realize that this is what caused the fraud charges for the Giudices. Now that is funny and stupid.

On the other hand, people who have probably done a lot worse than this couple have been granted bankruptcy sometimes multiple times.

How many times has Donald Trump gone bankrupt? Just saying.

I agree about the thieves on Wall Street. From what I am reading these guys are not changing their ways even after all those huge huge fines and more still to come.

However that was the fault of the US government, both parties, who both get lots of political money from all the big banks and brokerage firms, for loosening or removing the rules that were put in place after the crash of 1929.

When we see more stock brokers going to jail, for a long time, call me.

Good. Fuck these two.

People can kill, abuse, shoot at, run over, or stab others and still walk free. You get funny with the money and you do time. I think Joe's going to the big house. I'm not sure about T. They could auction all of their tacky crap and not make a dent in their debt. There ain't enough cookbooks in the world to save them.

And Joe's results are in.
Nutshell: 41 months of prison, $414k restitution.

I hate them too, Kno. This not-blind item makes me smile. Especially the part about the 13 mil being reinstated by the trustee.

I think Joe's sentence is generous, and I hope Teresa can do house arrest or some other way--only because of their girls. They've said the girls would have to be split up and sent to multiple relatives if she has to go to prison.
I think in the end if she can do some kind of house arrest but be allowed out to work to pay of some of the debt it serves to make right the wrong they did. They need to pay some of the people they ripped off back and if Joe is in prison, she is the only shot.

Just read that Theresa got 15 months sentence.

Feel so bad for their daughters.

Rose said...

I thought I read they wouldn't have to serve at the same time because of their kids and Joe would were first. Not sure what would happen to the kids if Joe is deported when he gets out and Theresa has to go to jail.

Wendy said...

It says they're jail time will be served separately so one of them can be home with the kids. ALso said most likely Theresa will serve hers first

I can proudly say that until I heard Brian Williams taking about it on the news, I was pronouncing it "gweed-ice" in my head.

Cause I don't watch that show. I only skim articles on her here. LOL

Wwhl. Tonight should be interesting. .

Their daughters are the victims here. Looks like T is heading to jail first for 15 months, then Joe does his 41 months. That is a lot of trauma for those girls.

The judge threw out the case with his business partner because he (the partner) filed the lawsuit frivolously.

Now, let's see if real justice will prevail upon Chris and Jacqueline Laurita who ran a fraudulent business and bilked businesses/people out of real money by not paying their bills, etc. They used business money for houses, cars etc. Just this week his brother and sister in law agreed to a couple of million dollars to be paid back, no jail time for them. Let's see what happens to the Lauritas.

The Guidices had fraud on mortgage loans, to which a lot of people did the same thing, not that they should get in trouble they should, but when it is an example, let's make it a more even field, ie... Wall Street, Bankers, Stock Brokers etc., now some of those people were the real crooks.

Unknown said...

The best things to happen to those girls is to be away from their parents. The children are spoiled beyond belief. Melania, if you have seen her behavior on the show is out of control. The oldest daughter, in the midst of this, starts a music group. What people don't realize is most of the fraud they committed was before they even got on the show. They knowingly submitted false w-2's to get huge mortgages they never intended to pay back. They robbed banks, just in a different way. They lied up to and including to the point of their sentencing. They lied about money Teresa made off her book, they lied about buying two luxury cars after their bankruptcy.

i think the lauritas were a bi awhile back about their autism charity being a scam and them keeping all the money and bravo knew but looked the other way. they were selling t shirts and wrist bands and other stuff and taking donations but just keeping the money.. is charity fraud that big of a prosecuted crime??
