Today's Blind Items - I Worked On A Yacht - Part Two

One day I was talking to my co-star about being on a yacht and a few short weeks later I was flying to France. It was a blur. She made a call and that night we went and had drinks with a woman who gets a fee for sending people to model. That's what she called it. She had some fake British accent which sometimes turned into a fake French accent. "You're there to look pretty. A yacht is elegant and so are you." The comparisons between myself and a yacht went on and one. Owners of yachts liked to have parties and needed to fill those parties with models. Again and again the word model. I guess that line would work with someone who was new to acting or modeling, but to me it sounded fake. Fake like the agents who will get you a part if you pay them a bunch of money and use their photographer to take your head shots. I think this woman's spiel probably worked best in small towns where she probably advertised in Craigslist. She would get a group of them in some Holiday Inn conference room and show them photos of yachts and parties on yachts. Sprinkle in a few pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio and other hot looking actors to really get them excited. Then dangle that money carrot and international travel and most of them were sold.

I saw Leonardo DiCaprio when I was there. He was at a restaurant having a drink surrounded by a bunch of guys. My reality was a bunch of sweaty, overweight guys who thought they could dance and had too much body hair. Oh, which they liked to show off.

Anyway, blah blah blah went the recruiter. I was already in. I knew what to expect and I also knew I needed the money. Oh, lets talk about the money for a second. First of all she promised to pay $10,000 per week. Each trip was one week. I would get $2500 upfront and then the other $7500 while I was there. Nope. My co-star already told me about this scam. Apparently the $7500 was what a model could expect to earn if she slept with a guy each night of the week long trip. $1000 a night was the going rate. The thing is though that wasn't guaranteed. I didn't want that kind of guarantee. My co-star said she learned from the models brought in that none of them were told they would have to earn the $1000 a night on their backs. They assumed that the whole thing was legit and would actually get paid the $7500 on the ship. The vast majority of the women my co-star encountered just partied on the yacht and never slept with anyone. They just took the $2500 and the airplane ticket and had fun. They would be where they needed to be, but never ended up having sex with any of the men. Those that did often got screwed over because they guys wouldn't pay them anything or would give them a fake Rolex or something similar as payment. There were boxes on the ships filled with fake French handbags and Chanel jewelry.

I told the woman I wanted my fee. I was treating this like an acting job. I would play the model part to a tee. People know my face. People know my work. My fee at the time was $25K per episode and each episode took a week to film, so I wanted $25K upfront. When I fly somewhere for work, I always hope for first class, but will settle for business class. I thought that was fair. The woman kept going on and on about some crap about how they could not afford to pay that. My co-star told me $25K is what she got so I knew I could get it. Plus, they use your name to recruit other women to go.

Two days after meeting the woman, the money was in my account. I didn't have to share it with my agent or manager or lawyer or anyone else. On my flight to Paris, I didn't notice any other women who looked like they were "models," but when I got to Paris that all changed.

My flight landed and I was met by a guy holding a sign just like any other limo driver would in the US. The only difference is this guy was herding everyone on to a bus. A flight would come in and four or five other models would get on the bus. I landed around 8am so I only had to wait on the bus for an hour. Some of the models had been there since 5am and waited and slept as the bus filled.

I guess I assumed I would get to Nice by plane or train but had been put off when I asked and only told that someone would meet me at the airport. A hundred women all on a bus. Most were wearing just regular clothes. Many though had obviously either gone straight from a club to their flight or they thought they were going to be put to work immediately upon landing. I'm not sure how some of the women could even sit because their dresses were so tight. Almost all of them left nothing to the imagination when they sat.

A guy with the most enormous pinky ring I have ever seen gave a welcoming speech in French and then in English. Then, another guy who looked like he beat people up for a living spoke in what I later learned was Russian and Polish. Well over half this bus was filled with women from Eastern Europe. My co-star told me more and more women from Eastern Europe were being brought in because they were willing to have sex every night. Less women from the US and other countries were being brought over because so many were not having sex. The men on the yachts either paid a fee to get on the yachts or in some cases were being wined and dined to write big checks. Especially with the fee paying guests, they expected sex for their fee. Apparently some companies charged as much as $2000 a night to these guys for all the liquor, food and women they could manage. If I was a guy on the ship, I would be ticked off even if I was going to get laid. First of all, if it is a dinner/night cruise you are actually cruising. There are very few places to actually have sex. You have to wait until 3am when the yacht docks and then take the woman back to your hotel or wherever else you are staying. Chances are though, she has to be back at the ship by noon for the afternoon cruises. those are where the guys go out on the yacht a mile or so off the coast and then everyone plays in the water. The models are all in the tiniest of bikinis. Most are topless. The guys are trying to slam their junk into the tightest Speedos they could find and look ridiculous. I hated the afternoon cruises. There was a lot more groping and staring. You would be in the water and some guy would grab you and touch you. They wanted to shower with you when you got out of the water. They wanted to rub oil on you and have you rub it on them. At night, guys wanted to dance and drink and eat and knew they had a long night ahead of them before they could try and get you to f**k them.

During the day, they only had three hours and they were on their worst behavior. It was drinking and hot sun and between the groping and comments and picture taking, you just felt like a piece of meat. I know that is an expression that is used loosely. Not in this case. Guys with cell phones and video cameras and cameras were in your face. If they saw some poor model passed out they would film her and grope her all while she was being filmed. For the most part it was a three hour sexual assault recorded. I hated it.

There was not enough hot water to make me feel clean after those day cruises. Almost all of the women had hotel rooms on shore. A couple who were favorites of the people running the tour would stay with those guys in the yacht. The rest of us were six to a room in a hotel. The routine went something like this. You would get up around 8 and there would be a hangover slow procession to the showers and then makeup in time to get to the yacht around 1130 for the noon cruise. You would cruise until 3 and then make your way back to the hotel where we would nap until 6 or 7 and then get some food. We would then do the procession thing again and get back to the ship about 10pm. We would then cruise until about 3am and head back to the hotels and sleep.

Some mornings we would get a call in the room and some model would be requested by a private yacht. These were the guys with the big money. These were the ones most of the models wanted to book. They would do anything to get on those yachts. Those were the Russian oligarchs and rappers and businessmen. They were the actors. The handlers hated sending women over to those gigs though because they never came back. That would be one less person for the cruises. By my last night there, half of the women were gone. Most of those had moved on to private yachts. Some had just quit. Some had ended up with some guy who they liked. At least one person from my week overdosed.

I get asked if I would ever do it again. Nope. Never. Not a chance. I stuck it out because I got paid to stick it out. I never walked away from a gig where I was paid and I treated it just like that. I have never felt more degraded in all my life. Some of the women there had been doing it for a year. They had moved from the Caribbean in the winter to the Med in the summer and never planned on quitting. I hated it. I cried for a f**king week when I got back. I got invited to go to Cannes to promote a show I was in. The only time in my life I begged off. I want no part of that city for awhile. I never slept with anyone while I was there. My co-star said most women don't, but in my experience, most did. In my opinion, half were looking to make as much money that week as possible and the other half wanted to find a husband. I will say that the week I was there, only two or three women I met were American. When my co-star had been, there were well over half. Did I mention how much I hated it there?

we are guessing what here today?

I am taking this as an informative post rather than a BI at this point.

You are supposed to guess the actress.

Derek Harvey said...

The actress was guessed yesterday as Vanessa Lengies and her co-star that introduced her to it was Naya Rivera. Excellent sleuthing-whomever guessed that---very tough one.

Looked at yesterday, think Canadian child actress. Guest runs on several tv shows it sounds like, possibly some cable movies or on demand.

"People know my face."
If so, she's wrong about being especially recognizable. Unless everyone who pays yacht girls watched Glee...and that'd be extraordinarily disappointing.
Overblown opinion of herself, in my opinion. She's definitely yacht girl material.

Derek Harvey said...

I didnt recognize the name (not a Glee fan) but DID recognize the face---however I AM Canadian--so maybe I am her demographic. I did watch her show Goosebumps as a kid and I remember her in The Perfect Man with Heather Locklear and Hilary Duff..

I am shamelessly addicted to these yachting stories!

Kno Won Uno said...

Oh, I get that....but how likely is it that every yacht customer would instantly recognize her & pay top dollar?
She's not a household name, not in magazines, on billboards, doesn't guest on chat shows...she might want to get over herself before her "career" is a dim memory.

Every time I see one of enty's endless yacht tales, I think of that old joke--guy sez to woman 'would you sleep with me for a million dollars?' Well, yeah she says 'would you do it for $20' she says 'what do you think I am?' Of course, his answer is 'I know what you are..we're just negotiating your price'. So in today's story, we learn her price for what she knows is shady and degrading..big deal...

I have found with Hollywood, that it never is what it is sold to be.

Glad this woman learned the hard way.

Women are property in other parts of the world.

Yes. +1. thanks for the info.
It sounded like a meat market but there's definetly much more of a factory side to it.
Poor Eastern European Woman.

More of an anecdote than a joke, really, because as we all know, whoring is No Laughing Matter.

Winston Churchill was overheard saying this to Lady What's Her Name. I'll look it up.

I think this is the first article (this is not a BI at all) that I have read here with the most attention in a very long time. I always wondered what happened in those yatchs and this has been very informative.
Thank you.

This is sadly yachting light. I can't imagine (actually sadly I can) what the girls do on the private yachts.... Sad, sad story.

I hope she really don't have to sex with anyone, although I have some doubts about that. I wonder about the the emotional damage she got though during the experience.

This is fascinating. Thank you so much for letting the victim tell it herself. When you do a deal with the devil, the devil ALWAYS wins.

I think the private boats are desired. Sure, sex is assured, but so is a big payday. Plus, it is probably more "respectful" as it were. A woman shows up as an employee with set duties, for which she will be paid a set price. Its unlikely that the folks on these boats would seriously damage one of these ladies, as these ladies are more famous. I mean, if even a b-lister just goes missing or is seriously injured, SOMEONE will ask some unfortunate questions. It can all go away, but only with serious money. Those daytime cruises are where things can go very wrong, very quickly. Guys with just enough money/clout to think they are special, but without enough money to be careful. When they get off shore they go crazy. Just like Rednecks in PCB, or NJ Gutter Trash on the Jersey Shore. They go crazy. When lesser known girls are there, the consequences go way down.

Patrick said...

She's famous. I had a crush on her when Stick It came out (and I was age appropriate, so its OK). Very cute and very hot. But she's got a little bit of Hayden P syndrome. She was great because she's so small that she could play younger. But there are not a lot of adult female roles for ladies under 5'2 once they can no longer play teens. Most adult working actresses are between 5'4 and 5'8, with a few notable outliers, and most of those being women taller than this. Vanessa, who is pretty and a decent actress, will have real trouble getting steady work going forward. She currently has a voice role on a Disney XD show Lego Star Wars. Its pretty good, but Disney doesn't usually let its shows go much above 88 eps, so there is not much chance of syndication money. And Disney writes into its contracts that the salaries cover airings on all Disney/ABC outlets. And Disney lowballs voice talent. Still, if this Lego show sticks, and its not bad, she could make a few hundred K over the next 4-5 years. It's good money for all of us, but it is merely upper middle class in major cities like LA or NYC. And perusing her IMDB page, I could see the time period when she did this. She was barely working, and the things she was doing were not paying that well. Certainly not enough to seriously offset her maintenance costs.

glly-yo said...

Yeah I don't know, I'm not particularly empathetic on this one...she basically knew what she was getting into and what the score was. And now she's clutching her pearls that she was made to feel like a piece of meat when that's the whole reason she was there. No one held a gun to her head and forced her to be an actress. I have a crappy day job and she could too.

I guess the real issue here is that...yeah, I recognize her from Glee, but she's not going to become some big A lister, right? I mean--right? I just don't see that in her future. She's a basically recognizable character actress and I think she might need to just accept that rather than waiting for that "big break." Just not gonna happen with that face. Harsh, but true.

Guesser said...

I agree, unlike the unknown models and Eastern European Women ,she knew exactly what to expect, and even was careful to get her payment upfront. The others probably did way worse for little money.

NoseyNeighbor said...

I'm American and I didn't recognize her name but I did recognize her face right away. She has a distinct face.

NoseyNeighbor said...

+1. Thank you for the info. The term yachting gets tossed around carelessly but I never knew what it actually entails.

Wendy said...

Yes, Stick It! It was bugging me because I thought she was in Make It or Break it, but it was the gymnastics movie, not the gymnastics tv show lol.

Muchlu said...

I actually liked reading this story. It's cool to know the details and the insight of her, but must b heel living it. And to think so many girls do it, and some love it.

Mooshki said...

She stole the show in Stick It. I think you're right it's probably hard for her "type" to get adult work. Too bad, because she has the talent and 'it factor.'

Muchlu said...

I know it sounds weird, but I went to check this Vanessas instagram. I also recognize her face I just didnt know where from, I googled but just wanted to see on instagram what shes been up to. Im on desktop and I could go all the way down very quickly until the very first posted pics she did in 2012, there is one the first 10 that has a caption of her in Paris "paris sleeps while i wait for the sun ship", but she has no posted pictures in Paris the city or in Nice, just at airport and hotel. Just a few weeks later has messages about pain and "letting go". I kind of think it backs up this guess.

This Naya Rivera sounds like one nasty classless soulless bitch not to mention not being that good looking I can only imagine how she gets any work at all on her knees ready to please I guess

inga said...

i don't like her: 1.her net worth is 7,5 ml & she cried out loud how poor she is;
2.she slept w/ a creepy rr for role...
3.not better then any prostitute...

I love these yachting stories! Name definitely didn't ring a bell but immediately recognized her from Stick It and HawthoRNe. Story is a bit flat though, but yachting stories get my attention!

Sorry, but someone has to say this. Has she reported those sexual assaults she witnessed to the police?

She is cute and I think it's sad she can't get more legit work without having to sleep with someone on a show/movie. I always thought Ryan Reynolds was smarmy, but I'll never look at him the same way again.

Good for her for demanding top dollar, but I think she's lucky that nothing worse happened to her on the trip.

Girls who would go on a private yacht are crazy - who knows what some of those powerful men feel entitled to do...how do you know you won't end up in a snuff film or gang bang?

Appreciate her being willing to share her story with us. Hope she gets some legit work.

Sgrace said...

If it's Vanessa, it's definitely Heather, not Naya. Naya only dated her now husband for about five minutes before marrying him and it was after Vanessa was gone from the show.

Check Lukas Haas instagram, he met a 16 year old model on a yacht in St Tropez.

Have more about this.

Patrick said...

It was a day cruise. Probably they went 7 miles off shore into international waters, where there is no legal jurisdiction.

this is the right answer for the actress? why does Vanessa follow him on Twitter if she says she cant stand him or watch anything he does?

Ryan Reynolds said...

Anyone else have the tea on him? I was disgusted by this blind item so I looked up some of the previous reveals and fan encounters, and I officially lost all respect for him. He seems to have a history of blackmailing actresses into sleeping with him or be fired from their jobs....not to mention being a prick to his fans...dude told his assistant that a kid in a wheelchair is faking it to get his autograph when she randomly saw him in a hotel lobby. LOL are you kidding?! Any friend of friends or former friends want to give me the dirt?

Morris Park said...

Finally we get a sanitized version of what goes on. The pressure to have sex, the drugs, the drinking, the rape drugs, this woman saw nothing of value. What goes on once your chosen to go the private route? So if not many "models" have sex, when an A-list supermodels charge six figures, exactly what is expected? And how is that divided up? The fixer gets what percentage? When its famous actresses, how does the photos and videos stay secret? If enty can blind item a supermodel making $500,000 plus, is it just to be shown off at a company dinner or, like the infamous pre-nup of Jackie Kennedy to Onassis, is every act stipulated by contract? Any up-sell? What is expected if the cost of having a big reality star on your boat is $1million,you must demand a happy star, willing to do whatever you want. Is there a guarantee clause?
