Elton John Hospitalized - Cancels Month Of Shows

Elton John has canceled all of his Vegas performances through next month due to an illness that forced him to be hospitalized, it was announced on Monday.

His entire performance schedule for the upcoming April/May run of “The Million Dollar Piano” at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace was canceled, as was his scheduled performance for Bakersfield, California, on May 6.

According to the statement from Rogers and Cowan, after his South American tour, John contracted a bacterial infection, and became “violently ill” on his flight home from Chile. He was admitted to the hospital when he returned home to the U.K., and spent two nights in intensive care.

He was released from the hospital on Saturday, and is now “comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice.” He is expected to make a full recovery, and is set to resume performing in Twickenham, England, on June 3.

His tour ended in Chile on April 10. The story says he was hospitalized immediately upon his return. But that's a gap of two weeks, not two days. Something doesn't add up.

It says he was in IC for 2days, but was still in the hospital until Saturday.

He must have got hold of a bad burrito. You know what that's like, right Candy?

Don't talk to me about bad burritos. Last time I ate at Ana Navarro's house, the burritos made my stomach feel like Mount Saint Helen's 2 minutes before she blew. And it's a good thing Ana's living room color scheme is browns.

Doubt it. He is pretty upfront about HIV and AIDs. I think that if he had it, he would certainly speak out about it.

You can be out there with your lifestyle and champion AIDS charities and NOT talk about your own status. For financial reasons, Elton cannot confirm he is HIV+. Touring insurance, performance insurance won't cover it. There are thousands of strains of HIV. If you have a certain strain and have sex with someone positive with another strain it can re-infect your body and you get very ill. The re-infection happens very quickly. Thus, his illness on the plane. I think before Christmas we are going to have a repeat of what happened to his friend George. Only a matter of time.
