I watched twelve Burt Reynolds movies over the weekend. What is your favorite Burt Reynolds movie?

Smokey and the Bandit. Do you know that Burt had a clause in his contracts that his college Florida State had to be rfeferenced in every movie he made?

This - all dogs go to heaven shaped my childhood. Loved Charlie B Barkin

Also, twelve movies is a bit excessive.
I myself managed several episodes of Turd Furguson on Celebrity Jeopardy.

Anyone remember when he had a cameo role in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210?

It was awesome.

I agree with the Boogie Nights comment. He was fantastic in that movie. I'd legit *say* Deliverance, but I found that movie so damn disturbing...

Deliverance and Sharkey's Machine. I lived in Atlanta while Sharkey's Machine filmed. My Grandmother and I went to the film set one day. He was very pleasant to her and for that I'll ever be grateful. It was one of her fondest memories.

I won't say SATB because that's too obvious, so I'll go with The End. At it's time it was truly one of the first great dark comedies. Many people didn't know what to make of it. It wasn't typical serious Burt and it certainly wasn't funny Burt. But if you watch it, it's brilliant and biting and tragically funny. And in honor of International Suicide Awareness Day, I recommend everyone have a look. Maybe in doing so, one may learn to laugh at themselves just a little bit and maybe realize things aren't as bad as they may seem.

Best acting: Deliverance and Boogie Nights. I am old - I remember him on Gunsmoke!

Stroker Ace.

Fun fact: He did this film instead of accepting the lead in Terms of Endearment.

He was up for Shirley Maclaine's role??
I kid, I kid. But Nicholson was 3rd or 4th banana in Terms of Endearment. Probably why Burt took the other role. Whoops.

Boogie Nights!

He did a movie called "Best Friends" with Goldie Hawn in the 80's, I liked that one too.

Boogie Nights. He supposedly hated the movie and hated his role in it. Everyone else thought it was brilliant and especially his performance.

I think his best acting performance was in Deliverance, but my favourite Burt film was Smokey & the Bandit. The outtakes from that are quality.

I love Canonball Run. Burt and Dom just cracked me up.

The Longest Yard is my favorite Burt movie of all time. Probably my favorite football movie too.

Why choose? Too difficult. I will say that I loved Burt's walk-on star turn in Robert Altman's "The Player".

Smokey and the Bandit - major part of my childhood right there
Boogie Nights
Deliverance - can't really be sure about the order of 2 and 3 there.
Cannonball Run
Smokey and the Bandit 2
Cannonball Run 2 - phoning it in a bit there...

I honestly don't think I've seen any others, but I loved him in My Name is Earl - 'don't forget, sweatpants are allowed and truckers shower for free...'

Aaaaand Saints Row 3!

Smokey and the Bandit, Boogie Nights and Hooper as a black sheep favorite
It is too bad he hated working on Boogie Nights. I heard he tried to fire his agent after it came out. It was IMHO the last decent film he ever did. He was great in it. I rewatched parts this weekend. His presence in that role was something to behold. And that hair! The best money could buy!

Starting Over was pretty good too. The scene with Candice Bergen singing "Better Than Evah" is amazing.

I like Cannonball Run, but Burt Reynolds isn't really the reason for that.

Entry, you either live alone, or you have a man cave- that’s a whole lotta Burt! Anyhoo, I’d pick Cannonball Run for a funny movie.

Smokey and the Bandit! And Hooper.

I wasn't a fan. He was known to be a player. If this blog were happening in the seventies, you would've had plenty of blinds about Reynolds. He was very lucky to meet Sally Field and Jackie Gleason, who made Smokey/Bandit a hit.
