No tree

Both.

Real tree in the living room.

A 1950's era silver tinsel tree, with the rotating color wheel, in the study.

No tree. Artificial if I did get a tree.

Artificial.

Artificial. When I was a kid up until about age 8 we used to always have two giant real trees but a fire scare one year caused to to switch to one fairly realistic looking fake tree.

We might have tried going with the realistic looking tree and a much lower quality smaller silver tree but nobody seemed to care for that one and we got rid of it.

The fun thing about the big fake tree is the branches were color coded and it was pretty fun to put together, especially for me who loved Tinker Toys and Legos and those sorts of things.

Real, but we keep an artificial down cellar in case we can't find a nice tree in a size manageable for two old people to put up

Got a balsam hill tree about 3 years ago. Word of caution, after couple of years prelit tree lights didn’t work anymore. So huge pain.

We have a "Charlie Brown" Christmas Tree.

So, I guess it's artificial.

=)

Oh man, Balsam Hill trees are expensive too!

Fake, but maybe when this one bites the dust, we'll start getting real ones. Or maybe at least a real wreath. I realized recently that my kids had no idea what a real pine tree smells like.

Both, but a real tree at minimum.

REAL - this is Maine. Sacrilege to have fake.

Artificial. @Simon we call our prelit tree possessed. The bottom half of the tree blinks at a different rate than the top. Abruptly it will switch back and forth between multi colored to white lights. Never a dull minute. It's much more fun to take bets on when the tree will do a specific trick. Keeps the fun in holiday.

Artificial. We started using one 3 years ago when chopping down a tree became a huge pain in the neck instead of a fun outing. It was prelit but it was too bright. So we carefully cutoff all of the lights and bought some nice LED's. I can't imagine going back to the needles in the house and watering the tree everyday.

Real tree, but only for the kids. Could give 2 shi#s about Christmas. Holiday of greed. It is a good time to get plastered and have a fist fight with the family. My mom karate chopped a Christmas tree when i was a newborn and my grandpa had to make a new one out of a broom stick. The story keeps changing, the amount of air mom got but the story still holds true. My dad also died (long ago) right before Christmas...If i had fat stacks i'd go stay to a country that doesn't celebrate this horrible awful season...like Vietnam or Thailand...somewhere with a warm sun and soft sand.

Depends on how much travel I'm doing. Sometimes real, sometimes fake. This year fake.

Artificial. The whole thing is gold glitter with LED lights. It is permanently in my living room because as soon as I move it, the glitter goes everywhere and it is a pain to get off from the carpet.

@Tuesdi - You are so lucky living in Maine! What a beautiful area. It's a place I've always wanted to visit.

I did artificial for a while and have determined they are way too much of a mess to deal with, especially when you have pets. Artificial one that looks just like a real one. One time purchase and they last a long time. I will, however, purchase an occasional fresh wreath or two, because I love the smell.

Artificial, made from recycled items. "Merry Christmas kill a tree" just wrong

I bought an 7.5 foot artificial about 5 years ago with 5/8 inch spherical lights that is flocked and glittered. It is big and beautiful, does not make a mess and holds all of my ornaments. I do real wreaths inside and out and burn piney candles. I will be very sad when this sucker finally dies.

Real. I spend so much time fluffing the fake one only for the cats to flatten it. Real trees spring back into place.

Expensive fake. Hubby's family tree went up in flames one year from a faulty set of lights. (Also, I am not allowed to have an electric blanket because he had one catch fire. I think his childhood home just had f'd up wiring.)

Artificial. We always had a real tree growing up, and they smell great but are otherwise just a huge PITA. My kids have never known a real tree indoors.

Brayson87 said...

I used to be a purist, but then I started feeling bad for the trees. Grow up just to be cut down and put in some asshole's living room for a month?

Got tired of vacuuming needles off the carpet in April, they never go away. Now: 1950s aluminum pom-pom tree.

Real this year after fake for the past decade.

When we were young it was real, but very messy and sometimes very sparse. So now it's perfect looking fake.

It used to live in its original cardboard box in the garage untill the box got wet one year and I ordered a Christmas tree bag on line, the very large green zip up waterproof canvas like bag arrived and it was perfect for the task, rather pleased with myself I showed it to my Dad who looked at me with a big smile on his face and said ...."You do know that's a body bag".

Nothing beats the fragrance of a real Christmas tree. Plus, who needs more plastic in their house?

T. W. said...

Fake.

I got allergies.

The tree was given to me.

Artificial. Be green, go artificial.
