Blind Item #1 - Kindness

I will just leave it in the tipster's own words.

My grandmother died in 2011. We planned her small ceremony at a Crematorium. My mum was in pieces and my sister too sad so the eulogy was left for me to write and perform. Terrifying. After the ceremony we went to the pub for her wake. One of the guests said to me “my daughter thought your eulogy was lovely and would like to talk to you.” I agreed of course. I recognised the woman as she approached me, she has been part of my extended family for many many years. She also happens to be a fairly big Hollywood star. Our Hollywood star began talking to me. She thanked me for such an incredible tribute I made to my grandmother. She was always fonder of my side of the family than her own. She always considered my grandmother to also be hers. It was an out of body experience. She took my number and found more details from other family members. A few days later she sent me a HUGE bouquet of flowers to my address. In the card she said how moving and touching my eulogy to “her adoptive grandmother” was. It was incredibly thoughtful. This lovely woman didn’t give her superstar name, she didn’t need to. She never spoke about being famous. Just was simply being a wonderful and sympathetic caring person with fame nowhere in her thoughts.

Very nice, but it's sad that a celebrity behaving kindly at a funeral is considered surprising and noteworthy.

Really not enough info to venture a guess. Could be anyone.

The blind is a bit confusing, at one point describing the woman as "fairly big" and later on writing "superstar name".

I assume she is British, and maybe somewhat estranged from her own family if that helps.

This is a nice story, but a little too short on clues. From "mum" and some other terms, it sounds like this is a British (maybe Irish?) film actress who uses a stage name?

Village Guru: Superstar name like using Fergie vs Stacy Ann Ferguson

Thanks for sharing the lovely story, Reader. If you are around, perhaps you can provide us a few more clues?

What a lovely story. It's nice to know that some of the big movie stars are kind people too and being an actor/actress is just their day job. I love how the UK has a pub culture where everyone gathers at the pub for life events. "Let's all meet at the pub after the funeral." How cool is that!

@Just Paige: No; not talking about naming but rather position in an industry. The writer says "fairly big ... star", then later "superstar".

This blind is obviously describing Goop.

Based on certain words spelling someone from the British Empire. So there are many countries to consider, making this BI extremely vague.

Kim Cattrall.

how did your grandmother get so close to superstars without anyone in the family knowing. It sounds like an intriguing story!

@Unknown NOT Julia Roberts! That was my first thought too!

I don’t know or care who it is; I just love this story. ❤️

I don't want to know who it is. It's enough that someone did a Nice Thing. And they obviously didn't want to be recognized for it (or their famous name), so having it be a blind is more than enough. Leave it be.

lots of people querying that she said 'fairly big star' and then said 'superstar name' - that isn't a contradiction - that is just English understatement. The post was written by a British person - not Irish in my opinion and makes total sense to me. - but nothing to indicate that the superstar is British.

I think the blind is not meant to be guessed but a reminder to show sympathy and kindness and respect for the deceased loved ones. Every funeral some one shows their ass, like the snide remarks regarding HIMMMM. ENTY is grieving but yet some one has to call out some one and start an argument. RIP HIMMMM

"Fairly big" is British for HUGE. Their adverbs work that way :)

That was DISGUSTING. Even after repeated attempts to get them to stop, their hatred overwhelmed their manners & they just kept on going. I have never seen such a tacky display of UGLY at such an inappropriate time. It truly was revolting.

Kate Winslet?

That's a nice story.

My first blind so sorry for the lack of detail. The flowers she sent included Roses. She was also a lead in one of the biggest grossing films ever made.

Kate Winslet.
