No One Wants The Ashley Biden Drug Tape
Over the weekend I watched with some interest as an alleged tape of Ashley Biden snorting coke was shopped around to the tabloids. Of course, whether it is the Vice-President's daughter or not on the tape, the damage has been done. Of course, from the descriptions the tabloids have used, they all seem pretty convinced the tape was made using a hidden camera and shows Ashley snorting several lines of coke.
It also sounds like the tape was shot by her boyfriend, so I'm sure he is a real winner of a guy. The lawyer who was acting as the broker between the owner of the tape and all the tabloids suddenly quit representing the seller. He said he stopped because of the publicity. Uh huh. If you are a lawyer who is willing to broker this kind of a deal, you are probably not the kind of lawyer who minds a little free publicity.
The asking price for the tape was $250,000, but as of this morning there were no takers. I think it is embarrassing and scandalous, but I also think no one really knows who she is, and so it was deemed to not be worth the $250K tag. Unless you are from Delaware, you probably don't know she was arrested for possession of pot or a later arrest for obstructing a policeman outside of a bar. Now, if this was Bristol Palin who got taped snorting coke, then you would be talking about way more than $250K for the tape. I think eventually someone will spend $50K on the tape of Ashley and we will all watch it and then we can make comments about how she will probably lose her job as a social worker for children and get kicked off the board of the Delaware YWCA organization. She might even go to rehab.

haha. i'm not surprised that no one wanted this tape, and i think that SHE will resign from the YWCA not get kicked off. who's dumb enough to 'kick off' the current VP's offspring? i wouldn't.
I'm from Delaware and I don't give a flying fuck what she does. There are bigger and better things to worry about these days than whether Joe's kid likes to party. I DO want to know if the lawyer who was brokering the deal was local and if he/she was local-what their name is. I know a couple scumbag attorneys and I'm wondering if it's one of them. ENT, if you find the name of the lawyer please put in an edit!
It looks like it wasn't her boyfriend at the time who filmed it, but the boyfriend is shown on tape. This was just some douche and the party.
Phelps, Binden... don't people know that you're not supposed to do illegal drugs when there are cameras in the room?
It's not her boyfriend shopping the tape. It's her in the tape and it's not the only one. You are right though, if it was a high level republican's daughter the price would be higher.
If it was a Republican's daughter, the tape would already be 24/7 on the newsmagazines, not the tabloids.
It was probably withdrawn due to a late night "Chicago style phone call". Ask Harry Reid, he has gotten a few of those.

I dont care what party her father belongs to. I think she is not making the rounds because she has never been there before, and the vice presidents daughter just isnt exciting enough on her own. Had this been Chelsea, I think it would have been out there in a heartbeat.
I do think the media plays favorites, and this is one of them. The last thing anyone wants to do is to pay some $'s for something most people have no interest in, and then also lose favor with the White House. If it was a known Republican kid, or maybe even a known Democrat that the media didn't have to worry about angering, then you'd see the video and still shots everywhere.

if it's out there, we'll see it eventually. but she's 27 years old, for chrissake. so this hardly reflects on her parents. it's not like she's 16 and pregnant and has an 'abstinence only' mother who ran for VP.

If Bristol Palin had done anything remotely like this, every media outlet from People to NBC to NY Times would have been covering it like it is was a matter of national security. But because it is a Biden, there will be minimal to no coverage of the story. Anyone who thinks there is no bias in the mainstream media is naive. Christ, Bristol's breakup with her boyfriend was actually considered newsworthy by most of these so called journalists.

Sorry, the breakup was covered by People, CNN, and MSNBC. I don't read everything out there, but I saw that much. Of course, none of these outlets have mentioned the Biden thing and never will.
I'm staying away from the politics on this one, I just wanted to say I think her shoes are kinda cute.
maybe it has something to do with the way Repubs need to preach their standpoints on anything 'frowned upon' ie. drugs,abortion and premarital sex...therefor making it much easier to turn that judgment finger around when they or their family fail miserably.
if Biden's platform was D.A.R.E. they there would be interest. his daughter is 27. Bristol is a teen. apples and oranges.
Jax - Joe Biden has been an ARDENT anti-drug advocate, so yeah this is newsworthy. He coined the term "drug czar".
Actually, the newsworthiness of this is she is a social worker for troubled teens, employed by the state of Delaware. Cocaine is still illegal in the US, regardless of whether people think it shouldn't be. And yes, if this was a Cheney or Bush daughter, it would be on the front page of EVERY newspaper and magazine.
Honestly, who cares? Why should the actions of a child of a political figure matter, and furthermore why are people in general stupid enough to lump it into something it has no relevancy to: politics.
As much as I dislike Sarah Palin, the media (and people stupid enough to harp on and on about it as if it were pertinent to anything) were pretty quick to drag Bristol through the mud. Same goes for the Bush twins when they got busted for underage drinking or whatever. Who. Fucking. Cares?!
If it was a video of the Vice President himself railing a few lines I can see why it obviously would be a huge deal... but it's stupid and detracts from actual issues at hand when shit like this is thrown into a frenzy.
With Hilary Clinton and others talking about how illegal drug use in the US contributes to the drug trafficking (and related violence and deaths) in Mexico, this should be a BIG story. Not so much if she were smoking pot that she grew in her own closet or something, but cocaine? With all the border violence that's going on? Maybe hers didn't come from Mexico, though -- I'm sure she's one of those really responsible coke heads.
Yeah, I don't care, either. Didn't care about Kate Moss doing it, or Michael Phelps or anyone else doing drugs.
