Nightmare On Elm Street Trailer

The original Nightmare On Elm Street was one of the greatest horror movies at least to me. It was intense and scary and I remember being on the edge of my seat the entire time. Fast forward a bunch of years later and there is a remake. I didn't think they needed to remake it, but from what I hear it is pretty good and the preview looks incredible. The movie re-imagines Freddy Kruger as a guy who is not as evil or as bad as we all previously thought and has a very good reason for why he kills.

Its Michael Bay. How good could it be? Remember Texas Chainsaw?

Somewhere within the original and its sequels was the explanation for why Freddy was after the kids on Elm Street. For this version to have Kruger as "not as evil or bad" they would have had to cast someone other than Jackie Earle Hailey, though. That guy seriously creeped me out in Little Children.

Between Watchmen, Little Children, and this...Jackie Earle Haley rocks. I would've said "Hell no!" to a remake (I agree with what Enty said), but now knowing JEH's playing Freddie? Now I wanna see it (and I'm not much of a Michael Bay fan).

How much say does a producer have in the script and such? I read that Michael Bay was only producing it so it might not be an SFX-plot hole fest after all.

I thought Jason killed Freddy in Freddy vs Jason. Yes I saw it, don't judge.

So in this version Freddy is someone who needs a hug and a heartfelt apology?

I think the mindfuck, the existence of absolute evil made exponentially more powerful in the afterlife, is scarier than someone who is REALLY pissed off about being burned alive.

Though, the trailer did look scary and I do love a good, scary movie. (Watch it be rated Pg-13.)

That made me think of the youtube 'leave Britney alone' emo guy cast as Freddy.

I believe Kruger was going after the children of the parents who had killed him. IF I remember correctly. I saw all of the Kruger movies but it's been ages ago.

I wouldn't mind watching this one. Doesn't look bad.

Jackie Earle Haley and Clancy Brown? This might actually be worth watching. Good for JEH. Hope his career keeps going well.

Craven originally wrote Freddy as a child molester, but they changed him to a child killer in the movies. (I'm pretty sure anyway...)

I'm sorry, the movie looks kind of interesting, but there is no Freddy without Robert Englund. Seriously, this guy looks and sounds like a douche...his voice was effing killing me!

BTW...I hate how it seems they are trying to make it all PC and stuff now...you know, he "didn't really do anything" blah, blah, blah...ugh.

No way. The preview looks great but I don't like the idea of explaining Freddy's evilness away.

In the original movie it's clear he was a bad seed. His mother was a nun who was gang raped by prison inmates. He killed children as an adult, which is why the residents of Elm Street set his house on fire.

Making Freddy wrongfully murdered sounds stupid. It doesn't justify killing innocent teenagers.

Do they have to remake every single horror film these days. The original is fine, doesn't need reworking.

Look what they did to the Omen, the Fog, When A stranger Calls, and Halloween (all bad remakes).
