Kanye & Lady GaGa Cancel Their Tour - Ticket Sale Issues Or Something Else?

I know this might come as a shock to you but I was actually looking forward to seeing Kanye & Lady GaGa on tour when they came through Los Angeles. As much as I dislike Kanye as a person, I do like his music, and I thought the combination of the two of them was a really good idea. Earlier this week I heard rumblings that Lady GaGa wanted off the tour because she wanted to go do her own thing and to me that was part of the attraction so I saw my own interest waning. I had a vision of them performing one or two songs together at the end of the night and now it didn't look like that was going to happen.

Still though I didn't expect the entire tour to be canceled which is what happened yesterday. Live Nation who was promoting the show won't give a reason. TMZ says it was due to poor ticket sales. I think that had something to do with it, but they had just started promoting the show and I'm not sure many people really knew about it. Lady GaGa and her people couldn't stand Kanye's people but that happens all the time and bands still make it work. I think what happened is that Lady GaGa is exhausted and didn't want to go on a however many city tour and then Kanye couldn't find someone as fun or decided he was going to fake a rehab appearance and so canceled it. It happens.

Maybe Live Nation failed to offer him any chicken.

I think MK hit in on the nose when he said there probably wasn't room enough for both egos on the stage. Sounds about right.

I'm thinking neither of them *really* wanted to do it, they got caught up in the moment and it was just one of those things that you say.

I'm a fan of both artists, and had tickets to this show. I'm sad that they canceled. =[

They were going to co-headline, with GAGA on one end of a long stage, and Kanye at the other. The Fame Kills show theme was that Kanye envied GAGA's home and family, and GAGA envied Kanye's fame. They would eventually meet in the middle of the stage and Lady GAGA tries to kill him.

Lady GAGA fan/gossip sites are predicting that she's going to tour without him. She's putting out new songs in Nov. The cd will be called Fame Monster. I can't wait to see her on SNL this week.

I think it's a shame. I loved Kanye's show last year, he really knows how to create a huge energy and a fervor with his sound and ideas (even the stupid ones) and I appreciate him as an artist, complete with his typical I-am-an-artist asshole personality. Lady Gaga I am less sure of, but they both seemed like artsy, persona driven, scandal driven acts and I liked the pairing. I won't see Gaga on her own, she's too unproven for me. Too bad, they probably are the only big, non-indie pop acts that interest me, besides the Jonas Brothers.

So, they were going to be singing different songs at the same time, like pretending the other wasn't there? And jealous of what? They're both jealous of something they both have? What? I am all sorts of confused over this.

IMO...which I admit is biased by the fact that I think he is a huge asshole...Kanye is not a good singer and an ever worse rapper. He is very monotone in the sense that he uses only one note and never varies the pitch or timber of his voice. He always sounds bored when he sings.

As I said, this is only my opinion and I respect that others like him. But I don't.

Lady GaGa on the other hand has one or two songs that I don't mind listening to.

That sounds like a neat idea. Too bad they couldn't pull it together and do it.

It was going to be like a stage play/musical with the songs telling the story.

The long stage was going to be on the floor, with Kanye at one end and GAGA at the other. They'd take turns doing songs as they fit into the storyline of the show. They'd be slowly moving closer to the middle, trying to get what they want(family-fame)from each other. When they finally meet at centerstage,GAGA tries to kill Kanye.

Lady GAGA did announce this morning that she WILL be touring soon!

With GaGa at one side of the stage and Kanya at the other where would Amber Rose be?!?!!? I don't think (s)he would get any attention at all with GaGa in the mix. There's more to all this than we know.

When I look at that picture of Lady Gaga in that position she reminds me of a puppet we had in our German version of Sesame Street. He is called Herr von Bödefeld.

What do you think?

Hum, you can say whatever you want about Kanye, but at least he makes his own music, he creates his songs and you can't really say that about other "artists" you see around. They just go to the recording studio and work some magic (auto tune or other softwares to make your voice sound better).

Of course his voice is not the best, but hey, the bands and artists I like were not famous because they carried a tune like Beyonce or Mariah Carey. This is hardly the point. If better singing meant better artist American Idol would have all the contestants in Billboard every week and they would be a huge success all over the world.

That said, I really like his music and think he's very talented (in a broader conception - one about creation - not in a "he uses only one note in his singing) and try to block the things he does. He's an ass, but he didn't beat anyone like Chris Brown.

It's a shame the tour got canceled.

I don't think that GAGA fans wanted to see her with Kanye. I'm guessing that she decided she could do better without him.

It's weird because GAGA just did a couple solo shows on Sept 28-29. It's an ego clash, but it's not like they were hanging out together.

Kanye's responsible for what he does. No need to bring up anyone else in that. Gaga is also someone who does her own writing as well.
I'd never see Kanye. I'd def see Gaga. Yes, I heard as well that she's going to tour on her own. She really doesn't need anyone else.

I can't see there being much in the ways of cross-over fans. I don't mind either artist but I wouldn't pay to see that show, even if it was in my city (and I'm travelling long distances this month to see U2 and Springsteen).
